Just to say...[edit]

...that I was here. :-) Oh and share a precious link. Starting here. Sequel should be here when we've fixed the broken stuff. notafish }<';> 00:30, 1 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mindspillage. Have you heard anything further from the copyright holder on this material? If not I'm going to go ahead and delete the article within the next 24 hours. --Ngb ?!? 07:46, 1 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I've now deleted the article. --Ngb ?!? 06:38, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Help![edit]

Hi Mindspillage! Thanks for closing one of my recent AfD/copyvivo articles I posted. I recently added another one here, and I think I need some help with monitoring it. To say the least, it is a complete mess. An anonymous user is also changing its content inappropriately and in a very sneaky manner, very hard to keep track! If you could help out, please let me know, as I'm sensing that things are already on the brink of being precariously out of hand...--HappyCamper 22:57, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting back to me! I recently protected both pages undergoing deletion, and will be posting an explanation and rationale for it on the AfD. Once I'm done that, I'll head over to WP:AN and see what others have to say. WP:VIP doesn't seem to be an option because the edits are done very sporadically, and have been sucessfully reverted by other Wikipedians. However, recently there were a few rather very sneaky edits by sockpuppets to the images done in a manner to add pornographic material to the page. I've deleted those images on the grounds of incompatibility with the GFDL. Thanks for adding it to your watchlist - I really appreciate it! --HappyCamper 23:29, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your support[edit]

Hi Kat, just a quick note to thank you for your support on my RfA. Now that I am an administrator I will do my best to please the community’s expectations. Best regards, Sam Hocevar 17:13, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucratship[edit]

Hi, Mindspillage. Thank you so much for your support and kind words on my bureaucratship nomination. Unfortunately, it didn't pass, but I intend to run again soon. If you'd like to be informed next time around, please let me know on my talk page. Thanks again! Andre (talk) 05:22, September 4, 2005 (UTC)

thanks.[edit]

Kat, thank you very much for your compliments. It's a bit overwhelming to receive so much support, especially from users I trust so much. I'm very grateful for your kindness. — Dan | Talk 06:40, 4 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Homeschooling[edit]

Good luck trying to keep the links down on Homeschooling. As you can see on its talk page, I cut its links down to ten or so back in May. Since then people have been simply re-adding their pet favorites one at a time, until it's grown to huge again. And each time you revert, you get flamed. Almost all the links are of the "you can do it" how-to variety, or political advocacy sites. —Wahoofive (talk) 23:18, 5 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

There. See [1] somebody's already added back their favorite site. It's a finger in the dike. —Wahoofive (talk) 21:38, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya. Did you ever get a confirmation of permission on Caulbearer? Cheers, --Ngb ?!? 09:22, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Meta image[edit]

Thanks for the speedy (pun intended) response. I'll head back to info-en and make one Dutch person very happy. - Mgm|(talk) 19:45, September 7, 2005 (UTC)

  • BTW, weren't you the one planning a competition awhile back for which I volunteered as judge? What happened to that? - Mgm|(talk) 19:47, September 7, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks![edit]

That was genuinely touching! I really appreciate that! Unfortunately I'm at work so I can't enjoy it right now (and someone else reading this will think I mean something entirely different...) And likewise, I'm quite impressed that you continue to carry on, yourself, in spite of all the project's troubles. Cheers! Antandrus (talk) 21:30, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Joolz's RFA[edit]

Hey Mindspillage, thanks for your vote on my recent RFA, your support was appreciated :) -- Joolz 11:35, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Thanks for the support on my RfA, and for the enthusiastic comment. I was very pleasantly surprised to see so much support throughout the week. To receive such support from admins that I respect the opinion of was very reassuring. Nevertheless, please do keep an eye on me and my logs, especially while I'm learning the ropes with the new buttons. Thanks again! -Splash 23:38, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there![edit]

I don't do a whole lot of Wikiage, but e-mail me at ksanti at gmail dot com if you want to chat about Rebecca Clarke. I plan to update the article more when I get time...I know WAY too much about her. Oh, and I was born a couple hours after she died. Cool huh? Triangular 18:51, 10 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA[edit]

Hi, thanks for voting for me in my RFA. I was really touched at how many people voted for me! --Angr/tɔk mi 22:48, 10 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You and Gmaxwell[edit]

You wrote on an IP its either you or Gmaxwell logged out, so it must be a proxy. What company owns it? See also User talk:24.165.233.150#Vandalism. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:24, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I see you two live together. So it must've been NullC logged out. Nevermind then. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:27, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA[edit]

Thank you very kindly for your support for my nomination. I promise your trust will not be misplaced; I may occasionally be slightly buzzed with power, but never drunk. ;) · Katefan0(scribble) 22:24, September 12, 2005 (UTC)

Thank you…[edit]

…for the comment on my talk page. Unfortunately, the nature of my day job means my Wikibreak is not for reasons of relaxation - on the contrary, I am pleased to have been able to snatch some relaxation by doing some occasional RC patrol on the Wiki!

I hope I'm not reading too much into your message to take it as a kind offer of admin nomination; I'll give it some more thought and let you know after time pressures at work have diminished (next week I hope). I think the reversion tool would help me revert more vandalism (if you find it useful then I'm sure I would), and I can see other admin tasks around that I would gradually feel able to help with as my confidence grew.

In any case, you seeing me as admin material is a great fillip: I don't forget that you initially welcomed me, put up with some inconvenience brought on by my inexperience, and have helped see me through some Wiki-doldrums. (BTW, I admire your terrific work on articles, too!) --RobertGtalk 11:20, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've thought about your offer, and have decided that I agree to being nominated, with many thanks: I will dip my toe in the water with some trepidation and see how it goes! Do we need to liaise about times? For me, starting on a Mon, a Tue or a Wed would probably be most convenient. I'll leave it to your experience otherwise - and obviously, let me know what you do! --RobertGtalk 16:22, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Lol - looking at our contribution histories, our Wiki-timezones don't really overlap, do they?! You're in Florida, so I take it you're UTC minus 4? I'm UTC plus 1. I can't be around after the next half hour until tomorrow. I can be around the Wiki tomorrow morning from around 9 (that's 4am your time, if my calculations are right) - what about posting it last thing tonight? However, there's no hurry. Whatever you think best, and at your convenience. Thanks again, sorry to make life complicated! --RobertGtalk 16:12, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

I thank you for your support in my successful RfA. I hope I can live up to expectations. I will feel free to come to you to have the benefit of your experience. --Bhadani 09:46, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

yoyos[edit]

I don't really understand why you deleted the image of the yoyo on the yoyo wiki. Schalicto 16:14, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Picture vfd's[edit]

Well, thank you for warning me. Copyright affairs seem harsh sometimes... Can you tell me which pictures are on the line? I sometimes simply forget to write the tag. --Liberlogos 06:25, 19 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Impersonator account[edit]

I have blocked User:Mindspillage II indefinitely for impersonation of your user account. He/she created his/her userpage as a direct copy of yours, except for an admission of being a sock puppet at the top. He/she also vandalised User:Splash's user page by replacing it with his/her own. I just wanted to ask you if I did the right thing about this. JIP | Talk 12:08, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

your user name[edit]

You should lend your username to that Gordon Watts! Oww... I've got a splitting headache seeing him spam talk pages and my watchlist. PS I've not logged in as I don't want him tracking me.

WoW template[edit]

I removed a WoW template from your user page. If you really ARE a sockpuppet of Willy on Wheels, please accept my apologies and feel free to put it back. Friday (talk) 18:29, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You couldn't resist heh?[edit]

I can't believe you held that long not editing the article that needs improving ;-) *bzzz* notafish }<';> 18:47, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

I'd rather like to keep mine intact, thank you very much. My mind, I mean. I left you a present on your user page (not really). Anyway, just dropping by to say thanks for signing my user page. Very cool because I really like your style. (Were you implying I am a fad?) I worship Voting is Evil, by the way. Also, I just noticed at the top of this page that you have been graced with the presence of Andrew Lin/the Soda Vandal. I guess we have that in common; he struck at my user and talk pages today. Interestingly, if you care, I contacted his university a while ago and they closed off his access, but now they tell me he's graduated, and so he seems to be coming back with dynamic Comcast IPs now. Ah well. Take care and happy editing. Dmcdevit·t 07:26, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

WoW template[edit]

I believe this user to be a sockpuppet of Willy on Wheels. --The Bad Tax Man 11:29, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

He's right, of course. I've been Willy all this time, while appearing to be a mild-mannered Wikipedian! I bet I've got everyone so fooled that no one will even believe this reply. I'm sure it just chaps your hide that I continue to get away with my evil misdeeds while appearing to be a trusted member of the Wikipedia community. New Enya album[edit]

Turns out the reports of a new album are in fact true as Roma Ryan announced it yesterday on the enya.com forum (I moderate the Enya Yahoo Group). I think where the confusion comes from is the fact that the main enya.com homepage hasn't been updated since sometime in 2004 - when there was indeed a false report of a new album coming out. Cheers! 23skidoo 05:07, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Mind. :) During the course of my normal wikistalking of you, I noticed that Susan Nigro was relegated to User:Mindspillage/silly rather than User:Mindspillage/not particularly silly, and it made me feel so sorry for Ms. Nigro that I am starting a charity drive in her honor, the Make Mindspillage Recognize Susan Nigro on her Non-Silly User Page!!! Association. Just letting you know. ;-) Func( t, c, @, ) 15:53, 26 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

blocked user Pazuzu413's images[edit]

Hi I see you blocked this user on the 18th Sept., I just came across two of this person's images at random both without sources noted which seems to be the case for all their images. Most of the images seem to come from googling, I tracked one Image:Zane.jpg down to [2] (via imdb) would this be considered fair use? I am wondering if it wouldn't just be easier to just delete all the images this user uploaded automatically (if that's possible). Arnie587 14:22, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I just picked one of their images at random Image:Shinz.jpg they have tagged it as fair use screenshot but again no source is given, I tracked it down to an image on imdb here [3] which states underneath "© 2002 - Paramount Pictures Corporation - All Rights Reserved" shall I tag this as fair use promo or put up for deletion? Arnie587 14:39, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto Image:Die2.jpg from Yahoo (Photo: Keith Hamshere) [[4]Arnie587 14:54, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto Image:Mfrost.jpg from imdb (Photo by Keith Hamshere - © 2002 DANJAQ, LLC AND UNITED ARTISTS CORPORATION. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED) [5]Arnie587 15:03, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto Image:Boris.jpg from official James Bond site again it's tagged as a screenshot [6]Arnie587 15:16, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pazuzu's images reply[edit]

Hi, thanks for your response... I will tag them as promo if I find the source... are all the images on imdb fair use (they include photos of stars at premieres etc. as well as posed shots from the movies)? Also what about associated press photos (non promo)? Arnie587 18:57, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I was just thinking about it and I'm not sure that all photos of stars at premieres could be considered promo as many are taken by independent photographers or agencies which aren't connected to the subject or their employer (movie or music company), so they are not promoted by the artist or artists employer but are offered for sale by private individuals or companies? Arnie587 19:22, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply, I have posted a message on the Fair Use project re: agency photos. Arnie587 20:09, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikibreak[edit]

Hey, thanks! I'll still pop in for a few minutes of RC patrol or whatever, whenever I need a break. Need to get this thing written ... :-) Antandrus (talk) 02:15, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re. requested articles[edit]

Hi! Thanks for your message about the requested articles page. Obviously the purpose didn't get through to me, so thanks for the explanation. Is there a way to revert to an older version of an article? Tulkas 04:56, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help! I've reverted the requested articles page.

AFD rule[edit]

Would you mind if I edited the 3month AFD rule on the Wikipedia:Article rescue contest? I wouldn't mind seeing very old AFD entries used in the contest. Also, how long do you think we should let this run? - Mgm|(talk) 20:02, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Dunno, sounds kinda short. How long did one of Danny's contests run for? - Mgm|(talk) 21:03, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RFA[edit]

Just a quick note to say thank you once again for nominating me. I was very gratified at the amount of support from the community. I'm sure I will enjoy being an admin once this bug is fixed ;-) --RobertGtalk 08:13, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I really didn't mind at all - I nearly joined in, (by writing that I had nothing to add to the discussion) but thought that "disrupting" my own RFA might not show the right spirit! I contented myself with making this comment to Michael Snow with my thanks for his support, after the RFA had finished. In fact - rofl - it has just occurred to me that this was very cagey of me. --RobertGtalk 14:43, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Messages like yours help me feel better about the place. I've come back at a lower level of activity for the moment, but I have plans. Filiocht | The kettle's on 13:58, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
