WikiProject edits

I'm curious to know if you proposed updates to WikiProject pages prior to making them. Your edits at WP:ACTOR, including spinning off membership list into its own page and archiving very recent talk page content was not by project consensus. Please don't impose your idea of order upon projects to which you don't belong and have not discussed changes. Thank you. Wildhartlivie (talk) 07:23, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In general, WikiProjects members take care of housekeeping at their own projects. We don't routinely archive talk page until at least a month has passed. Wildhartlivie (talk) 07:43, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits to WikiProject:Airsoft

Do you mind explaining exactly why you've made the edits to WikiProject:Airsoft including creating a separate members page? Some warning or at least a consensus being agreed would have been very nice indeed! As was mentioned above, Maintenance on a wikiproject is usually done by it's members, not by any random editor. RWJP (talk) 14:14, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your move of the page Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Jay Pritzker Pavilion/archive1 was incorrect; I have undone it. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:24, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject archival and member lists

Please stop going about and arbitrarily archiving WikiProject talk pages. In the case of WP:CRIME, auto-archival with Miszabot is already set up and active. The page did not need archiving and your edit removed the Miszabot archive system set up. Please stop spinning off member lists on to WikiProject subpages. Project members tend to their own housekeeping and make decisions about starting new subpages. I have already contacted you abou this before, and other projects have approached you about this before [1]. You are making arbitrary decisions about project pages without benefit of project consensus. If you continue, a complaint will be filed with WP:AN/I. Please stop. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography/Members and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography/Members during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Wildhartlivie (talk) 08:53, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I find your archiving of WT:GER a bit too aggressive (there are usually some old topics that are still worthy of discussion). Please let us do our own archiving. Thank you, —Кузьма討論 15:03, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I see you tried to archive the project talk page, but I dont see it in the archives. Do you know what happened to it? Sephiroth storm (talk) 13:33, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop archiving on pages that you don't edit

Your edits at Talk:Braille essentially hide interesting discussion from most viewers. Please do not do that. Archiving is not always useful, and sometimes harmful. If you don't know the difference, stop archiving talk pages or you will at some point be blocked. —Кузьма討論 09:33, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, stop ignoring these warnings or you may be blocked to prevent further disruption.— dαlus Contribs 11:48, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, please stop archiving pages altogether. You are creating many different archives for what could be served by a single archive. You will be blocked if you continue this disruptive behaviour. I understand you are trying to help, but please leave the archiving up to the editors of the page - and understand that archiving isn't always necessary for low-trafficked pages. –xenotalk 13:39, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

January 2010

You have been blocked 48 hours for disruptive editing, per the complaints at WP:ANI#Mikhailov Kusserow and WikiProject dabbling. You can be unblocked if you are willing to:

  • Stop all archiving of projects and article talk pages until you have consensus to do so, and
  • Will participate in the discussion of your edits at WP:ANI.

If you think this block is not correct, you may use {{unblock|Your reason here}} and a different admin will evaluate it. EdJohnston (talk) 07:06, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting Indonesia Project pages

There was no need for that tag at the top - the project is relatively inactive - but the top line on the page (that is already there) had the same info - so I reverted it - putting a tag like that gives it a sense it is even more inactive than it is! - cheers SatuSuro 08:34, 15 July 2010 (UTC) That tag is found at the top of more inactive projects than you can imagine.... Inefficient archiving

Can you please desist from inefficiently archiving article Talk pages? In particular, the series of archives you recently created as subpages for Talk:List of Watch Tower Society publications are unnecessarily brief, and this level of splitting is unnecessary. I understand that you were blocked for similar behaviour in January.--Jeffro77 (talk) 02:47, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You deleted this request without responding, under the guise of an "update". Whilst you are entitled to clear comments from your Talk page, please be advised if the unsolicited and inefficient archiving continues, your removal of this request will be included at the consequential admin board notice, along with a link to the same request made in January that resulted in your block.
If you believe there is good reason for your over-active archiving, please respond.--Jeffro77 (talk) 10:02, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Greetings Mikhailov, Thanks for the welcome and your generous suggestions! I particularly like the four waves and will incorporate that in my modus operandi. I wish I had more time to edit, although that is not my calling, yet I'd love to help. Here I am just trying to keep my two Cuba books (I'm the author) in the further reading sections... Yes, another self serving bastard. For me it is difficult to stay on top of this alone. I do have several questions that you certainly could answer, yet if you will is another matter entirely.

1) When there is no further reading section, should I A) create one or B) add the information in the reference section (I feel that may be a faux pas)or C) do something else like ... run Forrest run?

2) Unfortunately I have not had anyone write a bio for me... yet. I'm afraid I am responding at a poor time because while I usually dominate Google searches with my books, interviews, and my Blog at Sulekha, at the moment I am a distant second on the first page. Sadly, I share the name of Charles Spencer King with the inventor of the Range Rover.... This confuses many a seeker as you might imagine. Regrettably, Mr. King (the other) died in the last month, and that has thrown the proverbial monkey wrench into the rankings (Addendum: I assure you I am alive and well).

I would love to at the very least get into the Disambiguation section, however I am afraid I would need a bio for that.... Am I correct?
3) For some reason my ISBN does not seem to work here despite the fact I am on everything from Amazon through the Library Thing....and everything between. Odd, yet I would be delighted if at the very least I could get this to go to either the individual page at Amazon or the title page ( this one:) http://www.amazon.com/Charles-Spencer-King/e/B002ELIWKI/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_1

Thank you in advance for your valuable time and expertise. I look forward to our next adventure that undoubtedly is awaiting our attention.

Creative Pedagogy

Hi,

Thank you for your greetings and comments on Creative Pedagogy.

It is marked for deletion on the ground of

"Neologism"

Could you please explain? Neologism, as we all know, is a new word.

For example, "nylon" (when it was invented), "genetics" (when it was offered) were neologisms for some time. Neologisms are the words that are made up, coined and introduced to name the new object, phenomena, or concept.

None of the words used in the term Creative Pedagogy is new. The word "creative" is used everywhere: - Creative writing - Creative speech - Creative approach

and the word Pedagogy is also a very well-known word.

Wiki editors probably mean something else by marking it for deletion as "neologism"

Also, if Creative Pedagogy is marked, then why the wiki article on Critical Pedagogy is not marked in the same manner?

Why then Creative thinking is not marked as neologism? Why then Critical thinking is not marked as neologism?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Question about Discussion View

Hi Mikhailov ~ Thank you for sharing the useful tips to Wikipedia! I'll be sure to spend some time reading it thoroughly to understand the proper do's and don'ts. However, I do have a question though as it seems as though the discussion view has changed on my account. I can no longer see all of the categories previously up for discussion, including where I added a point of concern. Do you know why this may be or how I can get it back? I'm curious to see if anyone has responded to my point that I raised.

Look forward to hearing from you. Best ~ Molly —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmcwhinnie (talkcontribs) 18:37, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Sociology Newsletter: III (December 2010)

Sociology ProjectNews • December 2010
Spreading the meme since August 2006

The Sociology WikiProject third newsletter is out!

According to our April mini-census, we have 15 active members, 6 semi-active ones and 45 inactive. Out of those, 4 active, 3 semi-active and 1 inactive members have added themselves to corresponding categories since the mini-census. The next one is planned, roughly, for sometime next year. The membership list has been kept since 2004.

On that note, nobody has ever studied WikiProjects from the sociological perspective... if you are interesting in researching Wikipedia, see Wikipedia:Research and wiki-research-l listerv.

Moving from research to teaching, did you know that many teachers and instructors are teaching classes with Wikipedia? This idea is getting support from the Wikimedia Foundation, and some really useful tools have been created recently. I have experience with that, having taught several undergad classes, so feel free to ask me questions on that!

And as long as I am talking about professional issues, if any of you is going to any sociological conferences, do post that to our project - perhaps other members are going there too?

In other news: the a automated to do listing reported in the April issue went down shortly afterwards, but seems to be on the path to reactivation. We still have an active tag and assess project, and comparing the numbers to the April report, we have identified about 350 more sociology-related articles (from 1,800 to 2,150) and assessed about 100 (from 1,300 to 1,400).

We now have a listing of most popular sociology-related pages. It is updated on the 1st of every month, starting with August, and reports which of our sociology-tagged articles are most frequently read. Of course, GIGO holds true, so after looking at it right now and trying to determine what is our most popular article, my first action was to shake my head and remove Criminal Minds (which, perhaps not too surprisingly, outranks all sociology articles in period tested). Second item I noticed it this month's Industrial Revolution, beating Criminal Minds, that moved from close to 30th position in August/September, to 9th in October and 2nd in November. If you'd like to discuss this or any other trends, please visit WT:SOCIOLOGY!

Finally, with the reactivation of Article Alerts, we are getting our own here. Bookmark that page so you can keep track of sociology related deletion debates, move debates, good and feature article discussions, and more.

Our first task force (Wikipedia:WikiProject Sociology/Social movements task force) was created (1 June 2010).

If you have basic or better graphic skills, our projects needs a dedicated barnstar (award) (currently the closest we can get is the Society Barnstar.

As always, I highly recommend watchlisting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Sociology page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions.
