• Thank you very much for the response. I uplodaded 3 my own images of different kind of prominences: , and . Of course they are endlessly worse than Soho images, but they hav free licence and they represent 3 different kinds of prominences. The image, which is now displayed at the Solar prominence page is a great image of a flare, not of a prominence. Flare and prominences are very,very different solar events. In my opinion the page will be better off with no image at all, or with the images I've uploaded, than with a wrong image. I wonder what is your opinion about that? removing images

Hello, I'd like to ask you instead of removing the images I've posted to create a talk page to discuss the removal. I'd like this talk page to be present for 2 weeks and, if after that more people will vote for removal of an image, that's fine with me. I'm afraid there's huge difference between wikipedia editors and wikipedia viewers. I'd like to hear from wikipedia viewers. let's say you are a kid or a teen, who reads the book for the very first time? Would you have liked to see a picture of an amber, that books talks about? well maybe you would not, but I sure would. (I've always liked books with pictures). The book, the movie and the article all talk about amber. I'm sure everybody would benefit from seeing the picture and most of all school kids. Paul Henri Lecomte

With regard to your edit of 26 August of the Paul Henri Lecomte article, I agree that usually lower case in sentences is preferred. In this case Paul Henri Lecomte was not so much in charge of the plants (spermatophytes), so much as he was in charge of the department (Spermatophytes). I have rewritten the sentence to make it clear that a proper noun is intended and not a common one. --Bejnar 18:12, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Mola mola revert

Do you know that the total revert [2] that you did to the mola mola article was written by Tierney Thys, look at the ref list to see that she has written about 8 of the references, maybe the language was not that good, but to revert ALL and stating that it was uncited was not very nice, to do that for a ip editor that adds nonsens might be ok but if you really spent some time check the edits which you should if you revert you should have seen that there where good info there! Look at the revert again and tell me which parts that you really dispute, because I think that it was good additions to the page!!!! --Stefan ^talk 23:42, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

There are indeed some good changes. I just went over them thoroughly. But I don't think all changes and shuffles made sense. Some sentences can indeed be enhanced. For instance the Naming section now mentions Tetraodon and the recently reassigned Mola genus twice. The reference to Taiwanese Hualien city is replaced by Japanese city (I will find English references to Hualien soon - I know it to be truth; I am Taiwanese, but we do need real references for it). The introduction of parenthesized (which means rudder in Latin) breaks the flow of the sentence. The sentences that mentions 'Sluggish' and 'Breaching' don't really belong to that paragraph, and need inline reference. The changes to meters should match original cited references (I haven't checked). The "four-fused teeth" change looks wrong. Fred Hsu 04:22, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

I send Tierney Thys an email to review the article before it went FA, especially because of the breaching, she read the page and stated that it was very good and well researched, but she did not specifically confirm the breaching, she promised to review the page over the weekend, she did not, and got back to me NOW 2 months later! with a word document with track changes to her suggested changes. I am on a bussines trip and very busy but decided to add them even though I knew they needed some more work, it was a pretty big edit and I knew that the language needed some more work, but I decided to add it all in one go and then try to fix the parts in the next few days. I did NOT expect to be reverted in full 10 minutes later. I should probably have introduced the additions one at a time in a more controlled manner but did not, sorry. OK, but can you please point out the misstakes and what needs to be cited, you have spent quite a few hours editing since then with no effort to incorporate the added things to the article, does that mean that you think ALL was misstakes and things that HAS to be cited to be published? I do not do not want to waste time if you will just revert again. WHAT is the problems? is it only english? or do you argue with the content? or? Please advice. As far as i know you do not revert because of lack of citation, you add fact tags (did you even see the added fact tag that you reverted also?) and you do not revert bad english, you improve it, but maybe I am wrong? --Stefan ^talk 15:33, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Byblidaceae classification

Thanks for filling in those missing species articles with those stubs. Good work! A question for us to ponder, though, is which classification to use. Either way we should be consistent among species and with the genus page. It looks like APG II removed Byblidaceae from Rosales and placed it in Lamiales. Ah, yeah, I've been slowly cleaning up after Polbot. Some articles were a complete mess. I'm sure you noticed some; I've come across your contributions in some of the conifers. IUCN must still be using Coniferopsida. I'm pretty sure all CP articles have conformed to APG II, at least where it merits a taxonomy shift. University of Michigan Library

The search function on the library's website isn't working for me at the moment. Fortunately, I searched before and I remember two publications interested me:

• Macfarlane, J.M. 1908. Nepenthaceae. In: A. Engler Das Pflanzenreich IV, III, Heft 36, 1–91.
• Verrill, A.E. 1880. The cephalopods of the north-eastern coast of America. Part I. The gigantic squids (Architeuthis) and their allies; with observations on similar large species from foreign localities. Transactions of the Connecticut Academy of Sciences 5(5): 177–257.

They're on the list. I was thinking of eliminating the photocopier by just bringing the laptop and scanner. So the images will be high-resolution and I won't have to bring five pounds of coins. Correcting data without a published reference

I have one for you - on the Nepenthes mantalingajanensis page, the year of discovery is quoted as 1998. In fact, when I lasted visited the Kew Herbarium, I noted that this species was first collected by Argent and Romero from Mt. Mantalingahan in 1992 (sheet 25438 - unidentified as the species in question, but the same, nonetheless), therefore perpetuating W's erroneous claim of 1998 on Wikipedia is misleading. I have an idea of what I'd like to replace it with, but wasn't sure how best to go about it. The sheet in question may feature in an upcoming publication, but that's several months away. Hmmm... In this case, I would suggest removing the sentence in question. The correct year of discovery/first collection can be added when it is published. Alternatively, we could state that the describers of the species first came across it in 1998, or something to that effect. What workaround did you have in mind? I think it would work to do either of the above, but, since a herbarium sheet is a deposited record that is accessible to any member of public wishing to take a look at it, I wondered whether one couldn't refer to that as a reference in that same way that one does a paper article? The lack of online accessibility is no different from that of an older manuscript, or modern journals that are so prohibitively expensive that people have to look them up in person in a reference library anyway. Thus: Herbarium record, N. mantalingajanensis: Palawan, Mount Mantalingahan, 1700 m, 2.iii.1992, G. C. G. Argent & E. M. Romero 92114 (K). or similar. I wonder if there is such a precedent on Wikipedia? The collection of articles is so expansive that it might be hard to find out... Attenboroughii (talk) 08:56, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

The distribution map shows the species in West Bengal and Jharkhand, but should show Meghalaya (just north of Bangladesh) only. Animal templates

Hello, Mgiganteus1! I noticed you edited a template I created and was wondering if I can ask for your assistance. In looking at your contributions, it appears you watchlist a lot of animal pages, so I figured you are a subject matter expert in the field (my background is economics!). I have decided to tackle a rather large project that has been in the back of my mind for awhile and try to link together all of the animal articles via templates. I have already done most of the carnivores. Now I would like some feedback to ensure I am not totally screwing up these articles. For your reference, I am keeping track of these templates at User:Old Hoss/Animal templates. I would appreciate any improvements you can make to these, and would value any suggestions. Terminator merges

All these articles are stubs. They are about the same subject - Terminator film licence games - and should have started on their parent article page. According to Wikipedia guidelines fictional topics should generally work out as such:- 1) The main article is formed (in this case the film article) with section on games. 2) The games section cannot hold the expanding section 3) A games article is formed 4) Certain games sections grow too large and expand into their own article (as long as they have enough real world information). This process is ignored too often, it should be utilized here.

Examples of film franchise video games stubs in the same article:

• Ghostbusters (franchise)#Video games
• Batman computer and video games
  

The articles that you reverted were stubs, they fail notability and should belong in the merged page. Please see above process for creating articles. This has not been followed. A stub article can not stand on its own. I suggest that if the articles are to be separate then they need to be up to the standard of B-class status with appropriate references. Hi Mgiganteus1, thank you for replying. In reply to your issues:

• Real world aspect - I realise that in leaving the Infoboxes out that the developer and publishers etc would be missing, but these should be written in the game's article - in prose. I considered leaving the infoboxes in, but this looked very messy, especially when most of the infoboxes were actually longer than the original article stub. Although this real world information is unverifiable without reliable citations.
• Cover images - are not gone yet. If you feel it's necessary to have a certain cover image in one of the sections then include it as a thumb image, as opposed to an infobox style.
• External links - there was far too many links that I didn't recognise. Rather than have a long list of unknown links, I left the Moby Games links in as that appeared to be the only notable link I could see.
• Merge a step backwards - I don't believe this is the case. Admittedly merges always cause issues, especially one so large, but I believe it is a step in the right direction and as an experienced user surely you realise that the original 17-odd stubs couldn't exist on their own right.
• Notability - Both article guidelines and notability state the guidelines for article notability, merging and deleting. I chose to merge rather than delete as I think this merged article can, over time, become greater than its former stubs.
• Sources - as for finding reliable references I suggest digging out some old games magazines or checking out the games magazine project page for the appropriate contact info. -- Nreive (talk) 09:54, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me. A merge tag was placed on every Terminator game article - which were all stubs with every one failing notability. There was silence, so as per Articles not satisfying the notability guidelines and Merging and moving pages I went ahead with the merge.

Lost Monarch Redwood

Howdy. I noticed that you helped with some clean-up edit in the article Lost Monarch (tree)

At one point, it looks like you added a "citation needed" comment for the weight of the epiphyte fern mats. You probably are not going to get one. As the article says, information is being withheld by people who have seen the tree, and you may have to get it indirectly through another profession besides the scientist.

There are just a handful of people who have the documents or know where to find them. The documents list some clues about locations, and for that reason, the documents won't be freely distributed.

Any suggestions on alternatives for a citation, when nobody wants to disclose it? Not as a file anyway. Thanks ThreeWikiteers (talk) 06:32, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Predator 2 Spectrum.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Predator 2 Spectrum.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
