Welcome!

Hello, MeganMarkVerveLabelGroup, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!--Biografer (talk) 15:51, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, MeganMarkVerveLabelGroup. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 15:54, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia! I've been a Wikipedian since 2005 and first started contributing to the project because of my love for Ella Fitzgerald and Betty Carter. I've written hundreds of the articles in the Category:Verve Records albums category, and would be pleased to help you if you need any assistance. Thank you for all the music! November 2017[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Verve Records, you may be blocked from editing. Theroadislong (talk) 19:07, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • To be clear: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and articles should be written from neutral point of view and in a neutral tone. Editors with a close connection to a subject—like employees of the company—often have difficulty maintaining neutral tone because of their conflict of interest. It's clear that this is the situation with the Verve Records article. If you would like to recommend a change, you may suggest it at Talk:Verve Records. However, you should not edit the article directly because of your conflict of interest. —C.Fred (talk) 20:50, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
