He has vacated his IBF title. I was going to re-do his lead but I had no idea how to word it, seeing as he is still WBA champion. --Mahussain06 (talk) 13:58, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of World Boxing Foundation

Hello Mac Dreamstate,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged World Boxing Foundation for deletion, because it seems to be an article that was previously deleted by a consensus decision.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Flagicons

That's totally understandable I wasn't aware of that, the discussion is quite a good read haha I wondered why Calzaghe had no flags among other fighters. thanks for taking the time to let me know pal Famalambreezy (talk) 10:39, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Edit: Regarding the issue with "Therefore, whenever there is a flag involving a fighter from the UK, there is a strong chance of someone going around and changing the flag to England/Scotland/Wales/NI or vice versa. Or if a fighter is American in birth and citizenship, but strongly identifies as Puerto Rican or Mexican, someone might be hellbent on their flag being either of the latter. I've seen both situations, repeatedly. Note that the most oft-used source for record tables, BoxRec, also does not display flags next to opponents"

I see a few of these around now and again namely Andy Ruiz Jr and Erislandy Lara who I think has become a full American citizen. When this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Parker_vs._Andy_Ruiz has what is written but boxrec says he is American nationality I have to go with the American flag. Manual Charr is another as he is listed German on Povetkin's page, Syrian & Lebannon on others.. Is it okay to stick to Boxrec nationality's? Even boxrec have his nationality's all over the place Famalambreezy (talk) 10:50, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Yeah I've fixed Charr's flag on others fighters pages ( I really like the lebannon flag tho I'm not gonna lie haha) and after quickly checking Charr vs Ustinov he "officially" fights with the german flag but I think the controversy only came out afterwards as people thought he was the first german heavyweight champ in 85 years. German fighters do seem to be rare I mean Abraham, Culcay-Keth, Huck and Charr, Rocchigiani, Sturm, Kabayel, Dimitrenko and many up and coming / fighters of old are all only german by residence its crazy. maybe it will be worse in 10-20 years after all the migrants Germany let in a couple years ago we will surely get a few boxers outta there with mixed nationalitys.

The situation with Frampton and Burnett is very annoying. I have dealt with very persistent "proud nationalists" I guess you can call them many times, all they want is some love for there forgotten northern irish flag i guess lol, i mean come on everybody knows Andy Murray is Scottish but we don't go on about it all the time do we lol if you're born in Great Britain imho you should fight under the British flag that's how I see it. If we break up the union then its a different story.

Regarding your case for the flags, I really like the flags. i like the look of them, the practicality of them.. i don't have to click on a fighters page and if the fighter doesn't have a wiki it makes it even more of a blessing and the only problem i understand is people changing them all the time its frustrating especially now i realise they do it the the location aswell. anyhoo now i know there is a discussion page feel free to let me know anything you have plans to.. well.. discuss haha sorry for the long message Famalambreezy (talk) 18:08, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Valley Arena vs Valley Arena Gardens

I piped the name in short because generally in boxing (see the BoxerRec external link in the article) if was known as the "Valley Arena"; as a venue for entertainment it was often appended with Gardens. In advertising with different events in sports and music, it alternated between the two, sometimes placing emphasis on one part of the name or the other. For this reason boxing historians are more likely to find it by its shorthand not unlike how the Rhode Island Auditorium is listed simply as "Auditorium, Providence". What're your thoughts on these naming conventions? Simtropolitan (talk) 18:11, 31 March 2018 (UTC) Simtropolitan

About Tony Macalpine's discography

Hi!

To resolve our little dispute, I went directly to Michael Mesker, Tony's Manager. In the letter, I noticed that on the official website of Tony's official biography, the album "Death of Roses" is named the 15th solo Studio album, and there is a certain contradiction. I also asked him if Tony himself considers the Eyes of the World album his official Studio album, or is it still a Studio album of the "MacAlpine"project. Here's Michael's answer:

Hi Igor,

Thanks for your email. Thanks also for bringing this to our attention. You are correct: the sentence «On September 1, Tony released his 15th solo album Death of Roses….» is innacurate. It should be Tony’s 12th. We have made a change to the website.

MacAlpine is a “band” project. Tony wrote most of the music but the lyrics were written by others.

Thanks - if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!

Michael Mesker tonymacalpine.com

As you can see, Tony himself does not consider the album "Eyes of the world" his solo Studio album. This is an album of the project, which lasted only a year, and then broke up. Tony took part in many projects and each of them has its own name. But he has 12 solo albums. I urge you to respect the opinion of the musician. Can I now bring Wikipedia pages into proper form based on this view?

Lineal etc

Hey man I've noticed someone has made some changes to - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_world_boxing_champions Which I actually like tbh but he has removed the Lineal box? I had a problem recently where a guy was linking both the ring and lineals together even tho they are separate organizations that are generally accepted as the only 2 lineal providers.. now TBRB has been completely removed just wondering your thoughts?

New Page Patrol?

Hi Mac Dreamstate,

I've recently been looking for editors to invite to join New Page Patrol, and after reviewing your editing history, I think you would be a good candidate. Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; we could use some additional help from an experienced user like yourself.

Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. If you choose to apply, you can drop an application over at WP:PERM/NPR.

Cheers, and hope to see you around, — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 12:18, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

List of longest ski jumps

Hi,

Thanks for your contributions on List of longest ski jumps which is a good article. A few days ago, I left a message on the talk page and you probably didn't see it. I found articles about Henry Hall's record. I think there is a mistake because at the Steamboat Springs 1918 ski festival the weather was bad and it seems there is a bad weather and that no world record were beaten that year.--Shev123 (talk) 14:34, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

GGG page update

Hi, I'm wondering why you have reverted back my change from Kazakh boxer to Kazakhstani? Can you explain what is your reason for that? Kazakhstan is Unitary State, all its citizens are KAZAKHS, might be of Russian, Korean origin etc. The same like French Zidane...? Even linguistically Kazakhstan is translated from Persian language as Country (Stan) of Kazakhs --Ulan (talk) 11:42, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

Tyson Fury is the lineal champion

Very simple. The lineal champion owns the lineage when he beats the man that beat the man and the lineage is not subject to other people's views.

Fury says he's the lineal champion. He doesn't say that he vacated the lineal title. Never did. He vacated the belts. Not the lineal title.

Until he actually gets beaten IN THE RING and/or OFFICIALLY retires from the sport, he will always be the lineal champion. Clearly, he's never been beaten. And clearly HE'S BACK.

Now, if in his absence, the consensus #1 and #2 fighters fought to replace him, there could be an argument and the winner could be shown to have replaced him, but the lineage would STILL be his when he came back. Just like when Muhammad Ali was suspended in 1967 and Joe Frazier fought the #2 guy to replace Ali. In the ensuing Fight Of The Century, Ali was STILL referred to as the lineal champion because he had never been beaten in the ring.

When you keep it simple, there really is no confusion. Tyson Fury owns the lineage until he's beaten or he says otherwise. If you want to control the lineage, YOU GET IN THE RING AND YOU BEAT HIM. Otherwise, it's not yours to control. Davidjohnadams (talk) 18:43, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

Post this at the Project page to garner responses from other editors, not just me. I've already posted an extensive rationale there. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 19:06, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Mayweather

Why did you revert my update of Floyd Mayweather? Ar558a (talk) 02:17, 1 January 2019 (UTC)

Mac Dreamstate.

I am interested to hear your opinion on Wiki's current "Lineal" definition.

To highlight the issue -

based on Wiki's current logic, Floyd Mayweather should actually be a single weight Lineal Champion (147lbs) - not 4. Which is clearly not true. Dawson/Pascal and Wlad/Chag wouldn't have filled Lineal vacancies either. Just a couple of examples off the top of my head.

Floyd didn't beat or become an Undisputed Champ at Super Feather, Lightweight or Light Middle.

The main reference being used is unheard of and contradicts Wiki's list of champions - even effectively saying Michael Spinks was stripped of his Lineal title! It is also different to the viewpoint of CBZ, LBC, TBRB, WBN, The Ring and Boxing Scene.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Tyson Fury Lineal

Dreamstate.

While the CBZ and one journalist at Boxing News say Fury vacated the Lineal title, the following state that Fury is the reigning Champion:

- ESPN, Dan Rafael - World Boxing News - Boxing Monthly - LinealBoxingChampion.com - former CBZ author and TBRB founder, Cliff Rold - TBRB founder Springs Toledo - Ring Magazine editor, Tom Gray

It seems as if your group are blocking the consensus opinion of boxing experts around the world.

I am simply highlighting this point, using good quality references.

Kind regards. Anthony Williams Boxing (talk) 20:30, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Youngest Heavyweight champions

Hey; given your reputation within Wikipedia-boxing, I'm curious what your thoughts would be with regard to adding Herbie Hide as one of the youngest champions, on the Heavyweight boxing championship records and statistics section, due to his possession of the WBO title; though someone disagreed with that due to the WBO title not having the status then as it does now; should Hide be added? Thanks--Bartallen2 (talk) 20:25, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Citizenship

Your comment about "former" citizenship is interesting. It's a construction I've never used. I rarely use the word "former", which is overused in Wikipedia and elsewhere and is usually unnecessary. Wikipedia exists in a kind of "eternal present". As you suggest, it's possible to renounce one's citizenship, but I don't know the rules about it. I'm wary of laying down any iron rule without sourcing it, because citizenship rules differ all over the world. As far as I know, no one has citizenship rules identical to the U.S. Anyone born in the U.S. is automatically a citizen. Pregnant women will often fly to America (or walk in...) to give birth to American children.

Help with AfC submission about a rock fusion guitarist!

Hello, I submitted a draft about Yiannis Papadopoulos (rock fusion guitarist) more than a month ago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Yiannis_Papadopoulos_(guitarist) and I've been working on it since then. Matti Nykänen

Matti Nykänen is one of the greatest ski jumpers of all time, but he cannot be called the greatest.

All the sources you have given here, which call him the greatest, were written before 2013, before Schlierenzauer broke his record of victories.

There are many sources that name Schlierenzauer as the greatest. To cite Nykänen as the greatest is not correct for an objective Wikipedia article. Marius70 (talk) 20:34, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
