Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Someone must have been lazy, as you have not been welcomed yet. Thank you for your contributions. Since you have been here for a while, we can pretty much assume you are not a troll, vandal, or clueless newbie. I hope you continue to like the place and don't get all grumpy and leave over nothing. Here are a few good links for newcomers, even though you aren't one:

I hope you still enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian, and won't get mad over something stupid and leave! By the way, please be sure to continue to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome, and sorry for your not being welcomed in the past! Ping-Pong virus edit[edit]

Hi, will you please not remove information from articles with the edit reason "what's the point?" This is an encyclopedia and must thus be complete and correct. Not listing the variants of such a virus would make it less complete. —msikma <user_talk:msikma> 05:51, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

French language[edit]

Hi, I'm not sure I agree with your changes. I don't see anything wrong with the example of pied-à-terre as it was before. Also, abbaye and pays can both be pronounced many ways. I think abbaye is a better example than pays because it also illustrates that the ending -aye is not necessarily pronounced [ɛj]. Here are two excerpts from the dictionary at [1].

  • Prononc. ET ORTH. 1. Forme phon. : [abei]. D'apr. NYROP Phonét. 1963, § 186, la graph. ay se prononce [ei] ou [eji] dans pays, paysan, abbaye. Enq. : /abei/.
  • Prononc. et Orth.: [pei], [pɛi]. Joeldl 08:16, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:150px €2 commemorative coin Italy 2005.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:150px €2 commemorative coin Italy 2005.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:43, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:A blacksmith at work from the early 1900 tweaked.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
