DTB

Did you see my reply on DTB's talk page? If you can provide me with chronological names of all releases (albums/ep's/any singles etc) i can make a template for them, no need for the allman brothers template then. Its no biggie, its quick and easy to create. Suede67 (talk) 16:57, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

That would really be great. I've never tried to look it up though. I'll bet you could find the names of the albums or CDs in their website, in the info box on Derek Trucks-- click one of the categories on that website-- it's got tons of stuff; videos, interviews (some in video form) etc. Oh, and by the way, I found part of the reason there isn't a whole ton of information about this band on the web. They were in Newsweek magazine, and a bunch of major newspapers, plus there are lots of interviews and performances on our National Public Radio: "NPR"-- if you ever want to find more info for either of the Derek articles, it's there, in words and music! But for your idea to make a banner, the other places I would look would probably be All Music- I think they're most comprehensive, at least with some bands. Amazon.com is also pretty good at listing such things. Note that lead vocalist Mike Mattison is also part of a duo called Scrapomatic; Kofi Burbridge who plays flute and keyboards has been a member of a number of jam bands, plus his brother Oteil Burbridge is the bassist playing with Derek Trucks in The Allman Brothers Band. I would normally say that since the band isn't as old as the Rolling Stones, it wouldn't be too hard to find the names, but then Trucks was also a session musician from age 9 to age 20-- but now that I think of it, that would all belong on Derek's page, NOT the band page. Hmm. I really, really would also like to see articles begun on the various bandmates in the Derek Trucks Band (he uses the abbreviation of dTb, which I'll start using with you to cut down on the typing. It's your call.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:48, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Its better you start writing, and I'll help research. I'm quite busy nowadays to even tend to Snow Patrol articles, I couldnt possibly take on more. But allmusic is good, i'll take it from there. Suede67 (talk) 18:58, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Great! That'll work for me. I can't wait for my own computer to be fixed.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 19:16, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Deal then! Btw, just finished the template. I'm unsure about the singles and ep's though, there's no consistent info i could find. You can add yourself, as you know much more! I'll just add this template to every dTb related page, and remove the Allman Bros template. And any change you make will show on each of these pages, so no worries! Suede67 (talk) 19:24, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok, remember that some musicians have several banners from the bands they have played in- like Eric Clapton. Don't take the Allman Brothers Band banner from the Derek Trucks personal article, as he is still a current, performing member.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 19:28, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
yes, I did have that in mind, I did not remove it, all other albums articles now have the template. See ya! Btw, you really need to archive most of your talkpage! Suede67 (talk) 19:30, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

I can't figure out how to archive this talk page. Can you do it for me? Just leave the messages from the section that says Carter Beauford on down. I need the instructions for uploads, and some of the other new stuff, but all stuff dated before Carter Beauford needs archiving.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 19:36, 24 August 2009 (UTC)--Leahtwosaints (talk) 19:36, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

 Done okay? Suede67 (talk) 20:16, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Lisa Fischer

I had uploaded the audio clip to Whistle register but an editor removed it, calling it "original research" i'm not going to ask because i myself dont know what this vocal style is. You know better, perhaps you can ask him. Here is the page, see this edit summary. here (above suede67) In fact I dont even know what "head voice" means. Its better you do it. Suede67 (talk) 16:39, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Apparently, he has no taste for Rock and Roll, probably an Opera fan, plus the clip is from You Tube, thus, it isn't as clear as it should be. [shrug] to each his own. I left a note on the talk page there. Was Lisa Fischer's infobox just a bunch of crap with no photo when you placed the clip? Someone messed it up, and left it there. I have fixed it, and moved your clip lower. (BTW thanks for doing this- isn't the song amazing?) Take a look if you like!--Leahtwosaints (talk) 12:54, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Lisa's article was fine when I added the clip, someone must have vandalized it after that. The song is superb, and the live performance takes it to a higer level altogether! Suede67 (talk) 13:51, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm really happy you like it!! Thought you would, as we're both John Frusciante fans! That other editor just has no taste in music. What a shame we can't include entire songs!! BTW, that DVD is worth buying or borrowing.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 15:35, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
John is awesome! I love him! I wont say that editor has no taste, haha! Thats a bit too harsh I feel. His argument was valid indeed, it was original research in a way. Btw, I researched, and found that the performance of "Gimme Shelter" isnt actually from the the stripped album. The album does contain 2 songs recorded at the paradiso, but it doesnt include "Shelter" from that night. In fact, "Shelter" isnt even there on the album. Suede67 (talk) 16:18, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, it came from somewhere. And they picked the Paradiso purposely for the small audience (Mick Jagger prefers small "ballrooms", where people can dance, etc. I think it comes from a DVD. Fischer wasn't the original performer of the song, but once they found her-- and that was her first year with them, she remained, as did her male counterpart, Bernard Fowler, whose article I added photos. Both are amazing backup singers. See if you can find which album that's from if you can (or DVD, whatever). Thanks. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 16:45, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Yep, Merry Clayton sung it originally. Btw, I'm not sure if it is from an album, But as Stripped was a DVD, the paradiso gig must've been filmed fully, the "shelter" performance just didnt make the final album. Suede67 (talk) 22:49, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Your thanks is very sweet, but it was not me. You should be thanking user:Materialscientist instead. SpinningSpark 10:05, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Need help on a pic...

...you took permission for me. this one. Can you ask the author if they could give permission for the license used here? Especially the GNU one. If it happens i have an idea. If not, no problem, I asked another friend for a pic, and I might get it if its available. Suede67 (talk) 01:51, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Well, I'm not sure what it is you are asking of me. I thought that you told me not to look for any new Snow Patrol photos for you. What exactly do you need and for what? I've seen a few good Quinn photos before, yet passed them, and photos for Little Doses by, after somehow coming to the conclusion that you did not feel they were necessary. Just let me know what you wish me to do, OK? --Leahtwosaints (talk) 13:52, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Haha sorry, maybe I'm not clear. yes, I do not want you to look for any Snow Patrol/Little Doses pic. I was asking you if you can ask the author, which gave you this pic ([this one). See it now has some licence. But if the author can allow you to use the licence (GDFL, or GNU free documentation licence), whch is being used in this pic, that would help me in a potential idea I have. Am i clear? :)) Suede67 (talk) 19:24, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Did the authour get back to you yet? Getting restless! Suede67 (talk) 18:20, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Whoops. Sorry I forgot-- I still have troubles with the computer, and have uploaded photos etc. and done piecemeal work on a couple of things in WP when I found time and it was possible. I'm really sorry. I needed to ask you- what did you need it to have the license changed for? Either way, they generally want to see their name in LIGHTS! --when they give up their photos, so it's like trying to pull their teeth with your bare hands, you know? I'll ask today, but unless it's someone in a sweet mood-- and I need to tell them WHY they have to give up any rights at all to their photo, (you can tell me why either on your talk page or email), but even so, after they give permission and change the license, probably I'll have to ask SpinningSpark how that can be done. Wow I am sorry..! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:30, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
You've got mail! Suede67 (talk) 18:46, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Five Boroughs

Like many WP articles it could do with a little copyediting, also the coloured text in the picture caption is not good. But apart from that, was there something you had in mind? Rich Farmbrough, 17:08, 19 September 2009 (UTC).

Well, I know nothing of the subject, so I suppose it wasn't that far out. I thought the "See Also: the song by the Beastie Boys" pretty far out when I looked at that article too. [shrug] I suppose I was wrong. I do agree with coloured text being bad form as well. Mainly I edit biography pages, typically musician's biographies with an emphasis on guitar articles, create infoboxes, find and upload photos for any that are lacking them, with lots of cleanup and editing, required when I do so. There are maybe a dozen articles I work on -Derek Trucks, Cat Stevens, Jaco Pastorius, etc. But I easily bore, so I end up fixing up all kinds of things. Thanks Rich for answering me. If I ever have a tough question, is it OK to visit your talk page? Often I can't find anyone with answers or suggestions, although I don't really try anything too fancy, but I do know you are kept busy.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 14:35, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Total Stranger No More

From Leah to Marcia Wright:
You wrote a very kind note to me, signing it, from a total stranger, having migrated from Mudwater's page. I hope this intrusion is welcome! I just wanted you to know my computer (of which I'm hardly literate) was offline for a couple of months, so this is a very tardy introduction. I am trying to find some editors to whom I can turn with questions since I edit, make infoboxes, and provide photos, but actually am clueless about many things here (even after a couple years) so, can I turn to you when I need info, or instructions? It would be well appreciated.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 21:48, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Hey Leah!
Glad to have you here on Wikipedia-its our addiction/habitat/escape/etc. Please do ask me any questions you have, either here or through my e-mail address. Mudwater is also a very good resource, especially when it comes to a proper attitude in dealing with other editors who may "rub you the wrong way". I consider him my "advisor".
Again Welcome Aboard and Happy Editing!!! Marcia Wright (talk) 17:42, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Lots of love and thanks! If you need somebody to look for photos for pages or whatever, I've turned myself into "janitorial cleanup person" making infoboxes and so forth-- no aspirations here!! So, let me know if I can help, (doubtful, but just in case) and I'll surely contact you for stuff when I've no idea what I'm doing (frequently). :) --Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:07, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

No, usually captions do not use a period in them. Is that the question? --Leahtwosaints (talk) 13:05, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
yes that IS the question. So suppose if the caption is "i like cake. cake is good.", it should be "i like cake. cake is good", right? Suede67 (talk) 13:09, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
I believe you'd follow the same rules as you would for the titles of each section of the Wikipedia, you know? But to be safe, check the Manual of Style in the WP. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 13:26, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
I do, but never thought about these small things. I'll check if theres anything on this. Suede67 (talk) 13:27, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
WP:CAP doesnt mention anything about not putting a dot. So i guess i'll continue to use one. Suede67 (talk) 13:39, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Commons Categories

I just add the category to the image - if it is new, it will be a red link. Then you click on it and add a brief description and a cat for it to fit into. I made a new cat at Commons for "Allman Brothers Band" - see here. More later, in a rush, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:44, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

PS If the cat name is wrong - please let me know and we can get the right name cat made and have this one deleted. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:45, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
  • ::Oh, you are a Prince! Here are questions quick then. There is either a category or subcategory ... Southern Rock Bands) How can I move photos I uploaded, like those of Oteil Burbridge (who, since I didn't know about the category, and no Allman Brothers Band category yet existed, got uploaded as just "African American musicians" or "Bass guitarists from the United States", (really lame if you ask me, but I couldn't find much better); and Derek Trucks has his own category; but I think maybe a few of the dozen photos of him should be placed outside just his category and that of The Derek Trucks Band-- the latter doesn't belong in the Allman Brothers Band, but would qualify for Southern Rock. How can I move them? When should I move them? How can I edit/move a photo whose categories were picked poorly during uploading b/c there wasn't anything better at the time to get it in a more appropriate category or subcategory? And, last of all, when I find something that doesn't belong in a category, how do I get it out of there?
I guess I'm asking if it's like a tree, what would be the base? Biography of Musicians? Then maybe Rock musicians? Then Jam Bands, (Phish, Derek Trucks, Dave Matthews Band, Grateful Dead, etc.) Then Southern Rock? And then Allman Brothers, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, The Derek Trucks Band, etc.? I need lessons!
Last, I really think there should be a category for session musicians (Waddy Wachtel, David Lindley, Steve Jordan, Pino Palladino) they are all rock musicians.. many more exist. Also a category for Slide guitarists (Lowell George, Mick Taylor, Sonny Landreth, Duane Allman, Warren Haynes, Ry Cooder, Derek Trucks, etc. So, where do I start, and how now?--Leahtwosaints (talk) 23:00, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I did not think to check here (thought you'd reply on my talk page). Anyway, to move a category you just change it in the file on Commons (and to remove it, just remove the cat). So if "File:A" is in category "Southern Rock" and you would rather have it in "Allman Brothers Band", then just change to . There are several things to be aware of - categories on the English Wikipedia are not the same as those on Commons. Also, if something belongs only to a subcategory, it does not also have to be put in any of the possible parent categories (so a picture of a dachsund could go in the "Dachsunds" category, but would not also belong in the "Dogs" or "Mammals" or "Animals" categories. If something belongs in two categories, that is OK too - for example I work on Pennsylvania State Parks which often are in more than one county and so the category for the park is in the "Pennsylvania State Parks" catgory on Commons, but also in the categories for the counties it is located in. I think of categories as more like a web - my guess is Phish would be in Jam Bands, but not Southern Rock, but the Allman Brothers would be in both. The other thing I have noticed about Commons is that there are people who are very good at finding categories - so I usually add one or two cats and then find later someone has added or refined the categories. So if a photo of a musician belongs in catgories for their band(s) and for session musicians and for guitarists (or slide guitarists), then add all three (and make the categories as needed). The basic idea is that categories exist to help people find things on Commons (or here) - so "left handed slide guitarists" might be a bit too refined ;-) Hope this helps, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 11:49, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
PS Do you know about having someone send photos to Wikipedia:OTRS? If someone else has a lot of photos to upload, that would be the best way to submit them. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 11:51, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

(out) OK< I fixed the Mick Taylor image by just manually adding categories - see this diff. Once a file is set up, the categories are editable like almost everything else - if want to add to the picture, just type that in and save it.

There is also a service to upload images from Flickr with a bot here. It automatically checks the licens on FLickr and I believe it will not upload something without the correct license. Hope this helps, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 18:54, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for trying to help me. I think I'm just stupid. I loved that bot but it broke down a few months ago when my problems began. The user, Bryan who made it is no longer working with the Wikipedia which is why I was told to manually do it all, but for some reason, I don't understand it. I TRIED TO MOVE IMAGES. I CAN'T FIND HOW TO GET AT THEM ONCE THEY ARE IN ANOTHER CATEGORY.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 19:04, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

about them photos ...

heya Leahtwosaints. i see you worked out the photo puzzle - brava! - and i hope you saw my reply to you here. Dina Regine's photos of Keith and Mick T are almost certainly from the 1972 tour, and i'd like to finetune the captions to reflect that, but could you ask the photographer so that we can be doubly sure? if she doesn't recall the year, it will suffice if she recalls what continent she took them on - or island, as the case may be! thanks Sssoul (talk) 05:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

THE PHOTO PUZZLE. DO YOU MEAN HOW THINGS WORK IN COMMONS? You certainly have me MIXED UP WITH SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS STUFF THERE. I hate doing anything there, and would have been GREAT just doing shit work but I don't "get" any of it. I upload all those Stones photos choose the Category: Rolling Stones, and they are still tagged as uncategorized. The Lisa Fischer photo I uploaded by accident with a non commercial symbol on it was in danger of deletion. After a week of emailing the photographer to fix that, (and he doesn't speak English) I was told it was all fine, only to find it's got a deletion sign around it. Makes me want to rip down the couple hundred photos I posted. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:57, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Commons

I did a lot of stuff today, which I hope will make things a bit easier:

1. A proper commons page for the DTB, which can be found here. I linked the page directly from the band's wiki page too. To see all images of the band, need to see the category, which can be found at the bottom of the commons band page.

2. Same for the Allman Brothers. link to commons from wiki page, page on commons. Again all images can be found in the category, link at the bottom of the band page.

3. Since there is only one pic of Duane Allman, I tagged his category for deletion, its quite unneeded, unlike Derek, where there are about 15 pics that feature only him.

4. Did the same for DT himself. link to commons from wiki page, page on commons. Again all images can be found in the category, link at the bottom of the band page.

5. I also sorted categories for Derek, I put only 'Derek Trucks' as the category where theres only Derek showing in the pic (though he is playing with the DTB). Or else all solo Derek pics would also be have to put in the DTB category, which would have made it unnecessarily large.

6. I DID keep Derek's pics with Susan in the 'Derek Trucks' category though.

7. There was a duplicate pic of Count M'Butu, of a lower resolution (upload by yourself), i've tagged it for deletion.

Any thoughts, suggestions?

1. Thanks thanks thanks. I truly think my attention deficit disorder is messing with me.

OK, One of the admins --see my contribs --the guy besides Sssoul who also deserves an apology, cause I was so damned stressed out over Commons still being such a mystery that there are Admins here in WP who have NEVER used it-- you can follow today what I had to say. The Admin is : -Ruhrfisch ><>°°-- and he was nice enough to make a Category for the Allman Brothers Band (which is where Gregg Allman should go, along with Oteil Burbridge], Jai Johanny Johanson aka Jaimoe, Warren Haynes, Butch Trucks and even maybe at least one of Derek Trucks.

Yes, some Derek Photos should be in the Allman Bros category, you can add them yourself, which ones you like? Just add on the image you want, and it'll show.

2. I don't know if there is a Category for Southern rock bands but there really should be- the Allman Brothers Band, Dave Matthews Band, Derek Trucks Band, Widespread Panic, and more would belong, because most of them really don't have a category, (possibly alternative rock-- but I'm not even sure that one is a category, and I end up putting them ALL in "rock musicians" Category, which is insane.

There IS a category for southern rock, I know the Allmans is a Sou. Rock band, so I have already added that category to their page. You can find it here. See the Allmans' page is linked.

3. Any idea why Lisa Fischer, who has a SA-BY license now in Flickr, still has a huge red box all around her photo in Commons looking like they're going to do some bad thing, maybe delete her photo? Because the man who took the photo can hardly write more than one bad sentence in English, but did change to Creative Commons but told me using Flickr Mail. I think too, that both Lisa Fischer and Bernard Fowler belong in the Category: Rolling Stones. So should Mick Taylor, and Keith Richards unless you want Keith in the Category: Keith Richards.

Red box on this one?! Haha dont worry, the pic itself is like that. It has that border, if you want I can crop it for you.

4. I made a lot of accidental doubles of photos when I was just starting. I've kept making notes on the "extra" photos in Commons, saying please delete it, but I doubt anybody has tried. I've looked from time to time, using the "check usage" feature there, and the "extras" are always there still. As you probably know, my username in Commons is the same as in WP.

--Leahtwosaints (talk) 00:35, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Just making a note, or leving a message on the talk page will do NOTHING. You MUST tag it for deletion, with an appropriate reason. Choose your template from this page. Paste this tag on the page of the image itself, not its talk page (as I have always got it to work when I placed it on the main image page). If you want, make a note of all these tidbits somewhere to help you in future. Suede67 (talk) 01:26, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
I don't know how to tag. I don't know how to move. I don't know how to do anything there. But it's the weirdest thing. There were red angry delete signs all around the photo I like of Lisa Fischer in Commons and now, they're just gone!..
Cmon! Tagging isnt hard. you just have to PASTE the damn tag that applies in the scenario!

S--??? Will you forgive my frustration? It is gonna take me a while to get to understand these things that come so easily to you in Commons. If you'll help me slowly with my questions over the next couple of days, I will try to do my best to understand things, OK? I'm so sorry I vented. Now I need to apologize to Sssoul and everyone. Thanks. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 02:01, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Feel FREE to ask questions! Suede67 (talk) 02:31, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Uh-huh...

Again you're doing this...Gregg Allman, I cautioned you before, NO photgrapher names on the article page, only on the image desciption page. Suede67 (talk) 03:51, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

And I told you; it's not written in STONE, and some photographers are nervous that they won't get attribution. To at least see it, makes them happy for the first couple of weeks or whatever. Not to mention that the REAL travesty is that the articles like Gregg Allman, have such bad form, and are poorly referenced. Also, a couple of Admins have said they themselves put the photographer's name with the photograph. If it's good enough for major newspapers who use Creative Commons, it's damn well good enough for me. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 07:34, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Its not that they arent getting credit for their photos, they ARE, bt not ON the article page, but on the image description page. Yes its not written in stone, but it IS in the guidelines, I gave a heads up to you before, when I faced this problem after an editor started removing the credits from all the photos you had gotten permission for. I didnt mean to make you mad, just warn you. If you dont want to remove them, fine dont. But if some other editor without warning removed them, I know you will lose tour head and cry like a baby. See this: Wikipedia:CAP#Credits. Peace. Suede67 (talk) 14:14, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Well, I'm touchy on the subject. Leave it alone. And for Chrissakes, don't advertize this on my talk page. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:25, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Use of attention flag

Hey there! Thanks for all your hard work placing the WikiProject Guitarists template on guitarist articles. I noticed several times you used parameters for the "attention" flag that don't exist in our template (such as "low", "mid", etc.). It is just a yes or no flag. If marked yes, it places the article in Category:Guitarists articles needing attention, which we actually want to use very sparingly for serious BLP issues, etc. If you do set that flag, please specify on the article Talk page what needs attention. Thanks! --Spike Wilbury talk 19:31, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Howdy. Yeah, there are many guitarists to work on here, almost too many! I wish we had more volunteers in the project, but we are just getting it off the ground again so hopefully we can attract some new members. I would be happy to mentor that user you mentioned, or you could ask Anger22 (talk · contribs), who is an experienced and capable user. All the centralized discussion for the Guitarists WikiProject just would take place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Guitarists. So, if you have general questions about guitarist articles or the project, you can ask there. Our project banner doesn't have an Importance parameter. If you look at Template:WikiProject Guitarists/doc, it tells you what options are available and how to use them. There is "class" and "attention", and then two optional task forces you can set to "yes" if they apply. I'd be happy to look at Derek Trucks but I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. --Spike Wilbury talk 16:29, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Computer was down but back up

It's been unable to connect to the Internet-- has something to do with the wireless ethernet system here. Unfortunately it has other problems and limitations (and I don'r know zip about these things! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 20:12, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

No worries

No apologies necessary and glad to hear that things are going better here and on Commons (and hopefully in real life too).

To delete a picture that is a duplicate or has a bad file name on Commons, add the "bad name" template to the file there. The first part is {{bad name|, and after the vertical line (or pipe character) you add the name of the file it is a duplicate of (but without the word "File:"). On your example, I just added Jeff Martin and the Armada.jpg to File:Jeff Martin and the Armada2.jpg and in a day or two or three an admin at Commons will delete the image. I do this myself on occasion (have had two bad name deletions in the past week or so).

Please ask if you need more information or have other questions and thanks for your kind words. These are great pictures - thanks for finding and adding them to Commons. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:27, 21 October 2009 (UTC) o

Thanks. Do I need to click edit on the photo, and put it in a section there? Where on the photo do I put the little JOHNDOE.jpg notice? --Leahtwosaints (talk) 04:43, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes, go to Commons and edit the file there. I always put the bad name template at the top of the file. Here is a diff of my edit to the picture above. I also note that if two files are exact duplicates of each other on Commons, it will say so at the bottom of the file. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 10:49, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

XTC Photos

Hi Leahtwosaints. Firstly, many thanks for getting permission for the photo that is currently featured in the XTC article (I hate to see band/artist articles with no infobox photo). And as to your request, I would be happy to help. All the best. Memphisto (talk) 11:19, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Cropped pictures

Hi Leah,

not sure what you wanted doing with the Rhett Butler picture, but if you meant you want the legend removed, that is quite a difficult thing to do. Can I bring your attention to Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Photography workshop who specialise in editing photographs, that is a much better place to ask than random editors. I am sure they will also crop pictures for you, even though it is a stupidly simple thing to do and you will wonder what all the fuss was about after doing it for yourself the first time. Ah, that bullet hit me right in the spot! Yes, I know, although I'm slow to figure things out (partly from ADD, I'm afraid of things I know nothing about! I screwed up the name of Rhett Butler, unless you want the movie re-written so you can take the role yourself ;) (OK bad joke! :)) I meant a photo of Rhett Miller. Also forgot about one of Georgie Fame.

However, in this case, this computer has some weird issues. I don't know why, but aside from being disconnected from the internet-- during the summer for two months (I was in computer withdrawal!), there are some stupid notes the computer has on the screen full time, one about Microsoft imaging asking me to put the disk in. The damn disk. I haven't used it since I bought this thing 3 years ago. The messages have been here blocking my view and a horrible annoyance since the last "computer technician" supposedly installed the "Open Office" software, and I've been told not to mess with new things I don't know about till we can get a new tech to come look at the computer. But I will check out the graphic lab people. Thanks very much once again. You might not realize it, but quite a few faster, talented editors have read your various instructions from my talk page and have learned a lot from reading you here! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 21:46, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Have you got experience of 'featured pictures'? I'm wondering about this shot; I've asked here. Let me know (on my talk), cheers,  Chzz  ►  00:18, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
Re. pics - I was specifically asking about that one, for now - but I do like the others. You can definitely nominate your own pics in WP:FPC - lots and lots of candidates are nominated by the author.  Chzz  ►  15:54, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
