Edit warring

Thanks for the info. Since I'm new to Wikipedia there is a lot I still have to learn. Just to clarify, tough, I was trying to remove libelous content which I clearly stated in the edit summary. If you have any ideas on the correct way to do that in the future, I'd like to know. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oknevermind (talkcontribs) 21:50, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

@Oknevermind: Generally, libellous content would be covered under WP:BLP. However, since the article factually mentioned that there were reports reports, and the existence of the reports was well-sourced, the content in the article does not appear problematic to me. If you think the content should be removed, you should discuss that on the article's talk page. — Lauritz Thomsen (talk) 21:58, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
Furthermore, this page is also under discretionary sanctions from the Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee because it's in the post-1992 politics topic. @Oknevermind, please don't revert anymore because this page is Wikipedia:1RR due to their ruling. Philipnelson99 (talk) 22:11, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
I was unaware of the 1992 ruling. Thanks for the heads up — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oknevermind (talkcontribs) 22:17, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Regarding the birthplace of Connie Ferguson

She is very much alive and just like her husband they're both from Botswana — Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.167.80.240 (talkcontribs) 22:59, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

That is incorrect according to the sources in the article. Please provide sources that are better than the ones in the article to support your claim. — Lauritz Thomsen (talk) 23:03, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Adding References

Hello!

I just tried to fix my edit and add a reference. I'm just curious if I need to reference the experts in the article that are stating what I've added, and if so how do I do that? I've just referenced the entire article and I want to make sure that I am following the editing rules.

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dillinger69 (talkcontribs) 23:32, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

@Dillinger69: Hello, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia and for working to correct your edit.
The reference you added is missing a URL, which makes the template complain and makes it more difficult to verify (it might be easiest to edit with the visual editor).
However, more problematically, the source does not appear to fully support your edit. It's probably better to state in the article that she has been described as a cult leader, rather than stating that she is a cult leader as fact, both because that's what the article you sourced appears to state, but also per WP:DUE.

Thats a great idea! Thank you. I'll do that instead. Appreciate your help very much!

Thank you!

User:R&J Ski School & Rental

By nominating that page for deletion before the talk page was deleted, and making a note on the talk page, it becomes a lot less likely that the talk page will get deleted now. –MJLTalk 17:36, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

@MJL: Hi. Surely the promotional section on the talk page can just be removed per WP:TPO? — LauritzT (talk) 17:42, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
[Thank you for the ping] Well, yes, but I was hoping to have it completely deleted. Now it will live on in the edit history when it otherwise didn't have to. –MJLTalk 17:45, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
Actually, nevermind. TNT has fixed the situation. MJLTalk 17:46, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

Adding Music

Looking to add a 10 second music sample of a music track mp3 to an artist page. Is this possible or can you lead me to the pages so I can get further instruction and make sure it is ok to do so? Sarahalohi (talk) 20:01, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

@Sarahalohi: Hi. You may find the Help:Creation and usage of media files page useful. However, copyright is a key issue here:

Deaf and Dumb Institution

Thank you for your comments. The reference I noted stated the building was "well-designed and expensively-executed institutional building" - I withdrew this from Walker & Dixon 1984 and rephrased it a little. If you think it should be deleted I will not be offended! As to lodging the photograph - Oh I could not do that! However I will read your notes again.Morton1945 (talk) 15:39, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

@Morton1945: Hi. Regarding adding the picture: The key issue is determining its copyright status. Do you know when the picture was taken, or (ideally) who the photographer was or when they died? — LauritzT (talk) 16:29, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

Sex Trafficking Position on Kyrsten Sinema Page

Hello LauritzT, please detail how the factual post on Sinema's public comments regarding SB1268 is "less than neutral" so I can address your concerns specifically. FreedomFries2021 (talk) 19:06, 17 September 2021 (UTC)

@FreedomFries2021: Hi. I have replied on the article's talk page. If have any questions or otherwise need a reply from me, please notify me here or ping me. Thank you. — LauritzT (talk) 08:17, 18 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi Lauritz. You have not provided any specific feedback on how my post is "less than neutral." Are you a paid editor of wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by FreedomFries2021 (talkcontribs) 01:53, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

@FreedomFries2021: My comment was meant as a supplement to the comments left by other editors, though you did not include anything about the persons response to the accusation, even though the sources provided did, which at least makes it seem that the edit does not reflect how reliable sources presented the situation seems pretty specific to me. And no, I have not been paid – I have only made a single edit to the page. I simply saw your edit as I was patrolling recent changes. — LauritzT (talk) 08:32, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

Article Submission

If I create the Article with another name ... Can you move it to the main space ??? Onukrit (talk) 11:02, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

@Onukrit: Hi. Creating articles under different names because the primary name is protected might be considered disruptive, but if you have not been blocked or banned from editing Wikipedia and genuinely want to create the article, I'm not sure in this case, as it seems to have been protected after multiple requests from the only contributor to delete the draft, followed by recreation and so on. The draft would also have to go through Articles for Creation review, which is a process that I'm not particularly familiar with. @Bradv: Perhaps you could provide some guidance here, as you protected the page? — LauritzT (talk) 11:10, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
The user has been blocked as a sock puppet. — LauritzT (talk) 13:00, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

Please help

Can you block a user for me. He is creating an edit war, using bad words in his language and abusing other editors. He is a Sockpuppet. I didn't know how to block/report a person, because I'm new in here. He semi-protect many pages, but those pages now not updated. Please help Leif Eriksson VV (talk) 12:43, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

@Leif Eriksson VV: Hi. WP:AN/EW would be the place to report blatant edit warring beyond 3 reverts to the same article in 24 hours (WP:3RR), WP:AN/I may be relevant for other long-term issues (such as personal attacks). Please read the instructions for these pages carefully before posting there. Thank you. — LauritzT (talk) 12:54, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

UPA

I recreated a somewhat revised description of the organization for the disambiguation page. However, personally I wouldn't consider it a point-of-controversy to name as war criminals, seeing that the article on the formation isn't exactly short (presently 133,582 bytes), but mentions the Volhynia and Eastern Galicia massacres as early as in its sixth sentence. --84.248.71.202 (talk) 19:48, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Nazis in Inglourious Basterds

Thank you for your feedback. There is nothing illogical about what I said. The Nazis are the villains in the film. They are called Nazis throughout the film. Nazi is not only appropriate and accurate here but also the language used in the plot of the film and so the language that should be used in the synopsis.
