I made a search some time ago but there was almost nothing about conception or reception (I have no idea where I can find conception of the art of fighting and fatal fury characters). The article I think it can be revived is the one from Joe Higashi, but I still couldnt get enough. I think that Billy Kane and Kim Kaphwan can have their reception sections expanded since I always find comments from them in reviews. I wanted to know if this is reliable source. This was added some time ago to the character list of KOF, but I removed it due to the weight issues and since there is already a general reception. I think both ranked high in a SNK USA poll (K9999 ranked 7th with 156 votes and Angel ranked 3rd with 2498 votes). There may be reception about them in reviews from KOF 2000-2001 and KOF 02-03 since they only appeared in 2001 and 2002 (and Angel in the PS2 version from KOF Neowave). I suppose there must be controversy from K9999 since he was even removed from the remake of 2002, but I have no idea where is such info. The characters that I think they could revive their articles are King (from Art of Fighting), Rock Howard (lead from Garou, and has appeared in several crossovers and few KOF) and Raiden (from Fatal Fury) since he is the only new one from KOF XII and he is mentioned several times some Fatal Fury reviews.Tintor2 (talk) 20:41, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

A small question? Why some characters from the fatal fury character list are only mentioned in the Garou article? Is it because they were playable only in that game? Some street fighter characters only appear in one game but they are featured in the list.Tintor2 (talk) 23:31, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Dead or Alive Characters

I've asked this before (it's in Archive 3 in case you were wondering) but since you didn't answer I'll ask again: Why have you removed almost all Dead or Alive character pages? The current list with short explanations for each character is ok for the newer characters, but some of the ones that have been around since DoA1 have long background stories that are hardly explained now (if at all). Hi, it's me, in the past we met over the Mewtwo and Mew (Pokémon) articles, and elsewhere in the WikiProject Video games. I'm planning to take Shadow the Hedgehog (video game), an article I have worked hard on in the past couple months, to WP:FAC as soon as its peer review is complete. I recently rewrote the whole reception section, as well as doing a bunch of things that Ashnard told me to. I did a little digging in the history and it seems there is a connection with the IP's and a user named Mines32 (User:Mines32)). Mines32 and the IP's are making the same exact edits to the article looking between 2 diffs. One on December 2, 2008 and on April 12, 2009. I think the user account should be questioned about this. RE:About the in literature bit

I remember I used the same heading in articles for the same reason you mentioned, I saw it other articles. When Axem Titanium suggested "Printed adaptations", it just felt like a better fit. Personally, I think it is more descriptive and focused on the scope of the content we normally write about in such sections. Well, this information was on the brazilian magazine "Nintendo World", in which included an interview with Shigeru. It would be extremely hard to find this source because it is on a very old edition. FF

I don't see how you say I was rushing. I posted it for discussion (except for the 2 subcategory blankings). Rushing would have been to impliment everything without talking about it. My concern is that practices and policy are not being implimented the same for FF series as other game series.

As for the famicom game, most of those are not considered blanket reliable sources. Other than the primary source you indicated, you have to be able to show that each and every source is reliable. Even then it could be called for relying to heavily on SPSs in an AfD discussion. I'm not going to do it now, but I am sorely tempted to if you can't find some independant secodnary sources (I would myself, but I have no idea where to look as they'd probably be mostly in Chinese. Doing a google search myself I find mostly blogs, forum posts and torrents...). As for Chrono Compendium, it was only as a lexicon of stuff from the game, ie a situational source, I claimed it could be used for.じんない 08:01, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

That's the problem...you need more than 1 reliable secondary source to show notability. 2 might be okay in most cases as a bare-bones, but considering this is unofficial game, its in Chinese only and the sources would all be SPS, more than 2 is probably necessary. The article could still pass as a notable section in the main FF article. Other series like Harry Potter talk about unofficial knockoffs if they have reliable coverage.じんない 08:17, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Concerning the merge, I did leave a section concerning the budokai merges on the Video Game Wikiproject. First and foremost, just because an article can be sourced does not mean it is notable enough to stand on its own. The game is very similar to previous entries, and does not warrent a seperate article. Any and all relevant information is already contained in the merged series article. There is no reason to talk the discussion to the VG talk page, as the discussion is already in a more relevant place (the Budokai article), and a notifyer concerning the merge was already posted earlier. You have not given any reason beyond the fact that the article is "well cited" that the article should not be merged. However, the fact that it is cited again does not mean it deserves its own article, the gameplay, story and characters all overlap with previous games in the franchise. Please point to the discussion that decided this, I would like it for future reference. Also, even taking that consensus into account, the current Infinite world article does not have enough information to justify its own article. The only unique things about the article are its reception and its development, both of which have been merged into the series article. RE:Tetris (arcade) and Tetris: The Soviet Mind Game

That's a tricky question, and one I'm not entirely certain about. I've read up about Tetris, but haven't done the full blown research for the article... yet. The original was produced for computers in Russia. Once its popularity broke out of Russia, developers basically ran over each other trying to get the licensing rights. Nintendo ended up getting the home console rights, while I believe Atari got the arcade rights (not sure about this, I've only read a little about the arcade release). Tengen, Atari's home console subsidiary, later released their own version based on the arcade version. Nintendo eventually sued and Atari argued Nintendo had a monopoly on the market by restricting who could create games for their system. Atari lost the lawsuit though, and the Tengen version has since become a rare collector's item.

So to answer your question, the Tengen version is a port of the arcade version, which is actually a port of the original computer version. I'm sure I have some sources you can use to cite this, but I'm not sure where. May take me a bit to find them. The Tengen version has a very interesting history because of the legal battles with Nintendo. Most reviewers also called it superior to Nintendo's, which only adds to it's value as a collector's item. It'll be an interesting article if you can flesh out the legal case info. You might want to contact Marty Goldberg as well. I normally go to him for fact checking of video game history.

On a side note, if you do keep working on the Tetris articles, I have a number of sources to make Tetris a quality article. I haven't done so because I have a lot of backlog already and the "Legacy" section will be a royal pain in butt to do; those sections are the most difficult for me. Same reason I've put off working on Pac-Man. Having articles like Tetris: The Soviet Mind Game already done will make it easier to do that section. Here's a timeline you can use as an outline for digging up info on the intricate mess that was the Tetris licensing. Probably can't use TSR's site itself as a reference, (though interviews he has up can be used) but it'll at least give you something to refer to instead of stabbing in the dark. There's also this documentary done by the BBC in 2006. Also, Ed worked on both the Arcade version and the Tengen version (see [http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3679/game_design_essentials_20_atari_.php?print=1 this article from gamasutra). So its more likely he saw it on the ST, petitioned for Atari Games to license it, then did the arcade version (released in '88) and then the NES version (released in '89). Its even possible one was started off the other to keep project momentum going. Tengen was just their workaround to be able to release their games on home consoles (Atari Corporation had rights to usage of the Atari name and logo on consoles and computers). Only having one box art shows that there is a bias

Wikipedia articles must be unbiased. Showing only one box art to a game (in this case, Pokemon Gold) shows that the editors are biased to that one version of the game. Books that mention Mew

Do any of the books like Media and the Make-believe Worlds of Children: When Harry Potter Meets Pokémon in Disneyland that you apparently own or have access to (you added them as references to Mew (Pokémon)) and that mention Mew source any of the following statements from the article?

WP:COI states it's feasible to cite oneself, as long as it's not done "excessively". Citing oneself like 50% of the time is badly pushing that IMO, but more importantly the fact that it's a minority viewpoint he was arguing so vociferously for, and then turns out to be the, erm, leading authority on, smacks of a conflict of interest to me. I'm inclined to remove most of the stuff he added and simply retain the mention of earlier, British, open-ended action adventures as an influence which is supported by the EuroGamer article. It might be worth bringing it up at WP:VG, but that would probably require notifying him as a courtesy which I can't really be arsed with, especially as he purports to have washed his hands of the article. bridies (talk) 10:41, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

The problem isn't how much you edit or whether or not you are special enough not to use edit summaries...the problem is that other editors are working on these articles as well, and using edit summaries makes it easier for people to review your additions and changes. United Kingdom eSports Association Assesement

Hi! Thanks for your assessment and advice to improve the article. I've got a questions to clarify what I should do, moving forward.

You should avoid direct links within the body of the text itself. Use references if you need to link to those sites (the Membership section being the biggest example).

Should I put it was a seperate section like the External Links section at the bottom of the page or should it go with the External Links section? Or would I have to add it in the References section -Ryoga3099 (talk) 16:21, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

RE: Just checking in

Wow! That's some awesome work you've done with Barret! You didn't sound condescending at all; actually, it really is a bit difficult with those two (ironic, considering they have their own games while Barret, etc don't). I haven't gone too far into finding reception for Vincent, but I think Zack may be just too new when it comes to "Top 10/etc Lists" and such. He didn't have much of a part in FFVII, appeared briefly in AC, was unlockable in Ehrgeiz, and BC never came to the US. CC had a large impact, so I'm almost positive he'll begin appearing like mad in lists and FF articles in the future. It'd be great if you could keep your eyes open for any reception while you're looking around! In the mean time, I'll continue with my search as well. I'll start with Vincent; maybe there'll be some blurbs in DoC reviews about how he is considered "iconic" and whatnot. WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 00:06, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

regarding this edit, your comments about your position "as being the primary article contributor" and the simple "no sir i don't like it" seem to suggest you might want to take a step back from the article and try to look at it objectively. Additionally, the wikiproject doesn't represent the end all of decisions regarding any article. you know, just for kicks, see if anyone outside the project comes along and makes a change... you forgot/didn't bother to change Pikachu back and it gets several times more views by the general public than Mewtwo, shockingly no one seemed to think the template was such an issue. at the project page you continually supported your viewpoint with examples of characters that i was immedatially able to show were different from the pokemon situation. when i asked for further feedback from editors on exactly what was wrong with the new template after the initial criticisms were addressed, i was ignored. wikipedia is not a beuracracy, and i don't need to be "getting approval" from wikiproject A or wikiproject B for every change i make, and certainly not for something that's not even really a content change. templates are there to make our lives as editors easier. I am as idiosyncratic as they come, and if i didn't have to have a real life i could spend hours bringing pages in different categories into consistent styles, so i can appreciate your desire to have the pokemon species articles follow some sort of style. this template clears up confusion about the voice actors and provides information on the anime, manga, and trading card game, it's obviously superior to the simple version of te VG character infobox. --ΖαππερΝαππερ ^Babel_Alexandria 21:10, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
