Oresme's idea of fractional exponents was indeed ahead of his time. Oresme is credited with establishing rules for exponents that we find so useful today, for example: x^m x^n = x^m+n (x^m)^n = x^mn. Cruzdg1 (talk) 18:43, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
