Anorexia Page[edit]

WOW I just wanted to say how sorry I was that you got accused of starting an edit war. that was my fault. I deleted my own information because I was worried of being criticized and all you wanted to do was let me know it was good. I guess when something gets deleted and then reinstated it must get flagged as an edit war or that moron who dominates the site must have just reported it that way instead of looking to see who'd material was deleted and why you reinstated it. I am so so so sorry and I understand why you aren't bothering to edit anymore but I just wanted you to know that your comments were really important. They have so many things not cited there that your citations were a total improvement, some can always be better than none and if they aren't willing to put any in then they should just put yours in. I think Mayo clinic is perfectly fine until we fine better sources and I see your point that its about improvement over time. Anyway, thanks I really appreciate it. You can come edit my pages any time. Tovegrant (talk) 15:27, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No problem[edit]

I know this is years later but I literally haven't been in Wikipedia until now so I just saw them. I honestly can't be bothered to have a fight with a giant baby that calls edit war without any understanding of what happened or any regard for the rules. People like that boss you around behind the scenes to get their narrative on the internet, it doesn't matter if you're using approved sources or not. They'll just wait around until you arent there anymore and restore everything as they want it. Why bother. I think as long as sources meet requirements that people should be able to make changes.

edit war warning[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on anorexia nervosa. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Jytdog (talk) 12:54, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I asked what they wanted to do and they said as long as it went along with the page they cited so I made the edits, how do I improve communication other than just asking and following direction?Jinandtonicpark (talk) 13:19, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

in general...[edit]

when content is being discussed on Talk, it is a very bad idea to just try to jam it into the article. we work by WP:CONSENSUS here - we discuss things! Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 12:56, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I asked what to do and then followed instruction13:19, 20 November 2014 (UTC)

False accusation[edit]

I think you are misunderstanding the situation. Tove put in some changes and then removed them because she wanted to ask us what we thought, I just reinstated them for her because they were good. I even asked on the talk page first and they said that as long as they conform to medical posting regulations. There was no way. Tove only removed her parts because she wanted to ask people int he talk part before putting them back in. Please let me know how I could avoid it. Tove wanted her changes put back in. Jinandtonicpark (talk) 13:19, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

if you look at the Talk page you see that SandyGeorgia - a very experienced editor of health-related content, had several objections. You didn't deal with them...and you did this right after an IP editor had also added them, and I had reverted. You have to pay attention to the contenxt. Please discuss on the talk page. Jytdog (talk) 13:27, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
and please don't be offended. nothing is personal, it is just about doing things correctly! Jytdog (talk) 13:29, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am very offended, I did exactly what was asked of me. That experienced editor said I should read that page on guidelines so I did and it says: "Peer-reviewed medical information resources such as WebMD, UpToDate, Mayo Clinic, and eMedicine are usually acceptable sources" I thought your objection was to breaking the rules. I was also in the process of touching up the citations but when I went to save my edit I couldn't and I'd been accused of starting an edit war. I am really offended at your behavior. I didn't add anything about the DSM which would need APA, how can you say I didn't fix APA request...its not DSM...again I was int humidly of fixing her edits to conform, I just reverted them so I didn't have to start overJinandtonicpark (talk) 13:33, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

first, some clarification. are you the same as the IP editor who added the content earlier this morning? Jytdog (talk) 13:28, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I did try to make my edit earlier and realized I wasn't logged in and then posted it so I may have posted accidentally. I was not trying to do anything bad, just trying tomato it work Jinandtonicpark (talk) 13:33, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

again, please don't take anything that happens in WP personally. that is a huge mistake and will make your work here very unpleasant and unproductive. please focus on the issues at hand. also, please discuss issues related to the article on the article Talk page. it is fine to discuss issues related to behavior or other issues not specific to an article on editor talk pages, but discussion related to the article should remain on the article Talk page. Also, it is very bad form' to copy something and paste it elsewhere, as you did with my comment above, which makes it look like I posted that question here, when I did not - I asked that question on the article Talk page in this dif. That discuss belongs on the article Talk page. Please strike that (the markup looks like this (this), and please respond on the article Talk page. thanks Jytdog (talk) 13:40, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
and btw, I reckoned that you were the IP editor, and inserted the content a second time, after I had reverted you, is the very definition of edit warring. See WP:EDITWAR. the right thing to do, is discuss. Please read WP:BRD. thanks. Jytdog (talk) 13:41, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not accuse me, I can't see why you don't think of that as offensive. I dd not see any revert because I was editing the article, I put my edits below so you could see why I was engrossed int he project and not intending to war. Again, I believe the definition of edit war would mean that the person had intent and was just busy working. Jinandtonicpark (talk) 13:46, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I responded here because it seemed like a more private place to talk to you than infront of others, i can respond there too if you prefer. You couldn't see that i was trying to be discrete? would it have been a bad thing if you asked me that here, I didn't do anything to make you look bad. If I did accidentally I apologize because that was into my intent, I hope you are not offended Jinandtonicpark (talk) 13:43, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
All of this stuff was going on while I was looking for citations and grouping like symptoms (I was going to try to so APA too but maybe this whole confusion was going on while I was editing). Jinandtonicpark (talk) 13:46, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Symptoms of a person with anorexia nervosa may include:

  • Food restriction or refusal to maintain a normal body mass index for their age, to maintain weight or regain lost weight.[1][2]
  • Fear of weight gain or measures to avoid weight gain[1]
  • Obvious, rapid, dramatic weight loss, 15% under normal body weight[3]
  • Use of weight loss techniques: missing meals, exercising, count calories, petite suppressants, vomiting [4], drinking hot water [5]
  • Thin appearance including emaciation. May not, however, have visible weight loss [6]
  • Perception of self as overweight despite being told by others they are too thin
  • Eliminating food groups: fats, carbs, sugars, proteins [7]
  • Loss of hunger, may be psychological or physical in nature. Sometimes caused by hormone depletion. Decreased Leptin levels can result in weight destabilization and how your brain tells your body to start and stop eating or how to burn fat.[8]
  • Denial of hunger [9], includes excuse for lack of hunger, sickness, use stomach, nervous, anxious, planning of eating later
  • Obsession with calories and fat content of food. Can include fixation on 'health' and 'good' and 'bad' foods. Definition of 'good' foods may be so limited that malnutrition occurs or individuals would rather not eat than eat something less nutritious.
  • Preoccupation with food, recipes, or cooking; may cook elaborate dinners for others, but not eat the food themselves[10]
  • Food rituals, such as cutting food into tiny pieces, refusing to eat around others, or hiding or discarding food, eating around others but restricting in private
  • Purging: May use laxatives, diet pills, ipecac syrup, or water pills; may engage in self-induced vomiting; may run to the bathroom after eating in order to vomit and quickly get rid of ingested calories[11][12] (see also bulimia nervosa)
  • Use of laxatives [13] including foods, medications and herbals
  • Use of diuretics[14] including tea, coffee, herbals
  • Dental discoloration, from vomiting or from insufficient food intake to remove the stains caused by dark liquids, especially tea and coffee
  • Halitosis (from vomiting or starvation-induced ketosis), chewing gum or using breath mints
  • Secretive behaviors including hiding food, eating and toilet habits or binding and purging actions, wearing baggy clothing to cover weight loss (anorexics may hide or display weight loss depending on motivations)
  • May engage in frequent, strenuous, or compulsive exercise[15]
  • Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar, feelings of fainting [16]
  • Dehydration, a large portion of our daily liquids come from food [17]
  • Low electrolytes from drinking too much [18]
  • Intolerance to cold and frequent complaints of being cold; body temperature may lower (hypothermia) in an effort to conserve energy[19]
  • Fatigue[20]
  • Dizziness or fainting [21]
  • Trouble sleeping, bags under eyes [22]
  • Depression: may frequently be in a sad, lethargic state[23]
  • Anxiety[24][25] and or mood swings
  • Obsessive compulsive behaviors [26] including but not limited to an obsession with health, exercise or food.
  • Cheeks may become swollen because of enlargement of the salivary glands caused by excessive vomiting[27]
  • Swollen joints[28]
  • Digestive issues, stomach pains, constipation, diarrhea (made worse by laxatives and purging) [29]
  • Abdominal distension or seeming weight around the midsection in relation to the rest of the body.
  • Dry hair and skin, as well as hair thinning[30][31]
  • Lanugo: soft, fine hair growing on the face and body[32] – one theory is that this is related to hypothyroidism, as there are several reports of a similar hypertrichosis occurring in hypothyroidism[33][34]
  • Loss of menses or monthly cycle[1] May not effect women on birth control [35]
  • Amenorrhea, a symptom that occurs after prolonged weight loss; causes menses to stop, hair becomes brittle, and skin becomes yellow and unhealthy[1] May not effect women on birth control [36]
  • Bluish coloration to finger tips[37]
  • Hypotension and/or orthostatic hypotension
  • Bradycardia or tachycardia<ref?http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24436590</ref> or irregular heart rhythms [38]
  • Low blood pressure [39]
  • Image Orientation and seeming preoccupation with aesthetics including clothing or hair. Fixation on types of clothes they will wear, taking the perfect self portrait, posting very thin social media selfies, wearing revealing clothing to exhibit size
  • Preoccupation with social acceptance (from friends, family, coworkers, significant other), may include desire to act or dress a certain way, meet image demands or demands for time and energy (work over time, volunteer, conform).
  • Solitude: may avoid friends and family; becomes withdrawn and secretive, unwilling to discuss the disorder. May include loss of friends.

why are you drilling this at me, I know that, i put it here so you could see that I was just bust editing the article when the revision took place so I could show you I wasn't intending to war with you. Please stop accusing me, I really did not have that intent. I'm not on here for a power trip, I've just battled with anorexia my whole life and my husband is a doctor and I wanted to make a contribution. I really don't understand how there are things in this list which the people include dint he past which have NO citations which are not an issue. If you want to look at context when look at this list and tell me these things aren't important (way more important than things not cited)Jinandtonicpark (talk) 13:52, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
