Hi, I've just expanded this article to show the competitions that should be included, and to separate out league stats to make it easier to understand the breakdown of the figures, but have a few queries that you may be able to help with.

  • The entries already had Total figures listed without any source being provided for these. I am assuming they are mostly right, but can you check against any book sources you have, and then add that as a listed reference.
  • For players from the 1990s on I have filled in their stats based on their Soccerbase summary pages. They mostly tallied with what was already there, but there were a few minor differences, and these may be because Soccerbase sometimes includes play-off figures within the league totals.
  • The list of notable competitions is taken from the Records and statistics page. The only one I would potentially have excluded is the Tennent Caledonian Cup, but I am aware some clubs seem to include this tournament, and do the WBA books you have include this?
  • I guess in the very early days other tournaments, such as county cups, may have been deemed notable, but stats for these are not generally available? Also, there is the issue of when these competitions were treated less seriously by the clubs.
  • I have not checked any of the dates of careers that were already there, but assume they are correct.

I hope you'll be able to have a look into the above at some point. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 15:56, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

I was aware of the list but have deliberately left it alone, as I viewed as something that I would prefer to do in its entirety than chip away at. I am in the process of trying to get all WBA players and stats into a database so that the table could ultimately be produced by an automated method. I am up to 'R' surnames but unfortunately I haven't done much on it for a while (or much else wiki-related for that matter), however I will try to get back to it soon! If someone else creates the list in the meantime then the stats I compile will still be useful for cross-checking. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 18:34, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. I assume your database will be produced in such a way that you will be able to rank all those players with 100+ senior games and copy those into the Wikipedia list, with other notable players then being added manually? For info, I have now gone back through the 1990s onwards list players and checked their league stats against Neil Brown, and corrected some errors which resulted from Soccerbase including play-off games in the player league summaries. However, there are still one or two discrepancies, and I generally went with Neil Brown. Anyway, your books/database should confirm the figures. I will probably not add many more to this list if you are intending to add all players, but will keep an eye via watchlist. Regards.Eldumpo (talk) 10:39, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Main template in tennis draws

I know my revert [1] is against the documentation at Template:Main but it has become a possibly unwritten convention used by a large number (maybe thousands) of tennis draw articles and maybe other sports. It gives easy access to the main article about the whole tournament that year, and many tennis-interested readers probably expect the link after seeing it many times. If you want to change this practice then I suggest you bring it up at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tennis. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:37, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Assessment for Radim Nečas

Hi Jameboy and thank you for your recent rating of the Radim Nečas article I recently created at Wikipedia. Looking at the B-Class criteria, I wonder where you think the article could be improved at the moment in order to meet the criteria. Thank you. -Cloudz679 05:32, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. First B-class article! - Cloudz679 05:51, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Assessment of Crespo article

Although little of the work on the Hernán Crespo is my work, I thank you for taking the time to assess it. Should you have time, could you also assess the articles in the this category? There are 12 articles in all, but Parma F.C. is the one in greatest need of assessment.  Omg †  osh  00:03, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Finnish League and Cup articles

Hi Jameboy. I am making contact with those Editors that take an active interest in Finnish football on English Wikipedia.

For a long time I have been happy to work on Finnish football on Wikipedia without making contact with other Finnish football enthusiasts - basically I like preparing articles / undertaking tasks that interest me and contact with others has not been important. However recently some of my work was changed by a Wikipedia Reviewer and this has led me to question what approach I should be following and indeed what approach would other Finnish football enthusiasts wish to adopt?

The current issue I face is the naming of Finnish Football League and Cup pages. I have adopted the approach that we should always be using the Finnish name in the title, for example 2007 Ykkönen and 2001 Veikkausliiga. However, I am aware that words like Mestaruussarja mean very little to most English speaking Wikipedia users. I therefore have included the English name in the title as well in recent pages, for example,1936 Mestaruussarja – Finnish League Championship, 1938 Suomensarja – Finnish League Division 2 and2000 Kakkonen – Finnish League Division 2. I thought that this approach might be a suitable naming convention until the Reviewer changed "2012 Suomen Cup - Finnish Cup" back to 2012 Finnish Cup.

The basic question I am asking is whether Finnish League and Cup articles should have a Finnish or English title or some form of hybrid?

I provide examples below:

Finnish Title English Title Hybrid Title
2012 Veikkausliiga 2012 Finnish Championship 2012 Finnish Veikkausliiga
2012 Kolmonen 2012 Finnish Division 3 2012 Finnish Kolmonen
2012 Suomen Cup 2012 Finnish Cup 2012 Finnish Suomen Cup
2012 Suomen Liigacup 2012 Finnish League Cup 2012 Finnish Liigacup
1938 Maakuntasarja 1938 Finnish Division 3 1938 Finnish Maakuntasarja
1954 Suomensarja 1954 Finnish Division 2 1954 Finnish Suomensarja
1970 II divisioona 1970 Finnish Division 2 1970 Finnish II divisioona
1986 III divisioona 1986 Finnish Division 3 1986 Finnish III divisioona
1997 Ykkönen 1997 Finnish Division 1 1997 Finnish Ykkönen

I have read Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English) and Wikipedia:Article titles but have not reached a firm conclusion yet on the best way forward in establishing a consistent approach. The issue does matter with respect to the corrections I must make to existing pages and the tens of pages yet to be prepared. It could also carry implications for some of the articles that you currently contribute to.

I think that the matter would best be addressed on a proper basis and encourage that the issue is considered on the Talk Page of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Finland task force. If the matter is of concern to you as well, please add your name to the list ofparticipants on the main page.

You may also wish to comment on the project structure that I have prepared.

Kind regards - (Finnish Gas (Finnish Gas 13:29, 23 February 2012 (UTC)).

Birmingham Charity Cup

Hello, long time no speak. The venue is my mistake, my cited source says "at Small Heath" quite clearly. However, both that source and another newspaper that just gives the score call it the semi-final, and Walsall had a league match on the day your book says West Brom played them in the s/f. Will investigate further, but not now as I'm just about to have my tea... Thanks for the attendance/venue. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:04, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Your lot played Walsall on the 27th, not 26th, in the semi-final, which clearly was the semi-final, as Walsall went on to lose to the team down the road in the final. In which case I'm happy to believe Mr Matthews calling the Small Heath match round 1. Presumably someone got it wrong on whatever was sent in to the papers and they just printed what they were given. Thanks again, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 21:00, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Your article assessment question

You may notice that I raised this same concern three threads above under Classification and categorization. You are correct that a discography should be list or FL class. I have corrected many of these myself and I am certain your assistance would be appreciated. I wanted to invite you to join the Record Production WikiProject if you think you would be interested in that topic. In any regard, if you have any questions about assessments or navigating an article class, feel free to ask. You may notice that my question went unanswered so I am not optimistic that they will answer yours. So I did. Cheers. 76Strat String da Broke da (talk) 16:25, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Watcher needed

A while back you some unsourced opinion to Ryan G. Moore. Some anon keeps adding the same paragraph back in, using shifting IP addresses. I have been reverting him, but another pair of eyes would help, if you don't mind adding this to your watch list. Thanks. •••Life of Riley (TC) 01:34, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Merge request for List of computer viruses (all) page.

Hi, I can see that you have been editing the above page and was wondering what your thoughts would be on merging it with the List of computer viruses page.

Both articles are dealing with essentially the same subject, but have filtered their lists differently. TheList of computer viruses (all) has a more complete "Notable viruses section", and I believe that by merging the two would be of enormous benefit.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. The talk page on this subject is as follows:

Thanks for the message. If you have any feedback on the merged page, please let me know.

Match reports

Thanks, didn't realise. However, I do think that it might be more objective to use match reports from a neutral source rather than the official club website. Just my thoughts. Imlikeaboss (talk) 23:47, 13 October 2012 (UTC)

Monday Night NRL results (2007-Present):

Hi James. I appreciate your effort on my article but I really would like to keep the original title. The title is similar to used in the result lists for Monday Night Football and Sunday Night Football i.e. Monday Night Football results (1970-1989), Monday Night Football results (1990-2009) etc. Also I feel the word 'list' in the title downgrades the article somewhat, even though it is technically classified as a list article. If you could change it back to the original title it would be most appreciated, regards MNF. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MNF Magician (talkcontribs) 01:09, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Making up the numbers

Still makes me snigger that the big question going into the 2011 League Cup final was whether the injured Fabregas would be allowed to go up and collect the trophy alongside van Persie or not... I fancy an FA Cup/relegation double this year, except that clubs in administration don't get to play in Europe. I liked Europe :-) Keep up the good work, Struway2 (talk) 16:30, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
