I have to ask the question, do you read articles before you demote them? A class articles are not usually treated the way GAs and FAs are. Someone with expertise in the subject who has not majorly contributed (beyond tweaks) reads it and rates it.

You demoted it without giving any reason whatsoever, beyond a purely beaurocratic one. If you disagree with the editor who saw fit to promote it, then please state in what way it fails to meet the criteria.

Amandajm (talk) 10:27, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

A Class requires "having been reviewed by impartial reviewers from a WikiProject or elsewhere" per WP:ASSESS, which didn't happen. Hekerui (talk) 10:38, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
What form is this review expected to take? I imagine that an impartial reviewer read it before promoting it? It doesn't have to go through the same assessment process as a GA. It doesn't have to be submitted for a A, like a GA. It only takes one person to decide on a A. Where do you look for evidence that it has/hasn't been reviewed?

langugae policy Marathi Language Wikipedia

Dear User:Hekerui,

Thanks for your support at Marathi language wikipedia. At the same time I need to bring your attention to the fact that Marathi Language Wikipedia has local Indiapendant language and translation and maintainance policies, This specialy to note that it would have been preferable to leave en content as is.For your information I am making following clarification

  1. Article name has to be in Marathi Language Devnagari script(excluding certain specific exceptions which are related to support) created by Marathi Language wikipedian ,not even by a sister languge Hindi Wikipedians
  2. When an article is forked for translation,a translation temeplate and after completion a translated temlate is used
  3. translation of section heads is only done immidiately rest of the translation are done over period of time by various users
  4. Marathi Langugae Wikipedia is and needs to be a lot flexible (compared to many other language wikipedias) in giving quite a long time to editors to do write or translate any article (since we are already short of editorial man hours secondly many times our editors need time to look for or to employ apropriate wording).

Thanks again for your active support.

Hekerui's good map

I like the map you made for the Referendum 71 Washington State election page. Do you often make maps? I often want to make maps, and it seems easy enough, but I have not yet taken the leap and started doing it. Could you tell me something about how you made this map? Did you take someone else's division of the counties, and then just fill them in with color according to the election results? Blue Rasberry 18:07, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

BTW, do you have a view as to whether the article should be kept or deleted? If so, you might want to weigh in, whatever that view may be.--Epeefleche (talk) 18:50, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
W/regard to your deletion of categories that reflected where she lived, on the basis that she was not born there, I had not understood the reference to "people from" to denote place of birth -- but actually that the person had lived in the place in question. See Wikipedia:Categorization of people ("People are sometimes categorized by notable residence, in the form People from Foo (not "Natives of Foo"), regardless of ethnicity, heritage, or nationality. Residential categories should not be used to record people who have never resided in that place. Nationality is reflected by the occupation category (above), not country or county or city of residence."). Was wondering if you might take a second look, and share your thoughts. Best.--Epeefleche (talk) 18:58, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Arabic

Hi Supertouch, I have a question about Arabic and Epeefleche told me I could perhaps ask you. I see you're also a member of WikiProject Biography, so I wanted to ask for help in starting an article about Ram Narayan on the Arabic Wikipedia. Perhaps you could be so kind and translate the introduction? I'm not sure how the name is written but it's رام نارایان in Nastaʿlīq for the Farsi Wikipedia. Thank you very much! Hekerui (talk) 22:42, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I really must decline to translate Ram's bio into Arabic. There are two reasons for this: the first, after a quick Google search I was unable to ascertain a proper spelling of his name in Arabic - although it seems somewhat intuitive that it be spelled in Arabic as it is in Farsi; and the second is my limited vocabulary of musical instruments and music in general in Arabic. From my experience, I heard English terms used in the midst of Arabic - as opposed to translated... Supertouch (talk) 16:06, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

While I can comfortably translate text from Arabic into English, doing to opposite is a bit of challenge for me. My classical arabic skills are limited. I am native colloquial speaker but was educated in english. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. You might want to ask User:Fjmustak, whose classical skills are much better than mine. Cheers. GA Sweeps update

Thanks to everyone's efforts to the GA Sweeps process, we are currently over 90% done with only 226 articles remain to be swept! As always, I want to thank you for using your time to ensure the quality of the older GAs. With over 50 members participating in Sweeps, that averages out to about 4 articles per person! If each member reviews an article once a week this month (or several!), we'll be completely finished. At that point, awards will be handed out to reviewers. As an added incentive, if we complete over 100 articles reviewed this month, I will donate $100 to Wikipedia Forever on behalf of all GA Sweeps participants. I hope that this incentive will help to increase our motivation for completing Sweeps while supporting Wikipedia in the process. If you have any questions about reviews or Sweeps let me know and I'll be happy to get back to you. Again, thank you for taking the time to help with the process, I appreciate your efforts! --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 00:06, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Hello there! I saw your recent edits to Ennappadam Venkatarama Bhagavatar. I declined speedy on this article because it seemed to make some kind of claim to notability, though I hadn't noticed the copyright issue. Having done a bit of searching for more information, all I can find are references to this single conference paper, so I am concluding that this musician (singer? instrumentalist? — even that's not clear) is probably not worth keeping as an article. Re: Hawaii House Bill 444

Hi, I'm just monitoring the progress of Hawaii House Bill 444. Regarding your recent upmerge and split of content from the background section, do we have content, per WP:SS that points to it? Don't you think a background section for this article is appropriate? Viriditas (talk) 00:56, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

The thing is, for a FAC, it will need background. That's my only concern. Redundancy is expected and encouraged whenever we are working with series articles or narrow topics contained within a broad context. Viriditas (talk) 01:59, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
This is far from FA level, I think. Hekerui (talk) 02:07, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
My understanding was that User:The Obento Musubi was working on bringing it from GA to FA. I also think it is important to keep as much background information in the article as necessary, provided it can be sourced to subjects about the House Bill. How near or how far it is from FA should not have any influence. Viriditas (talk) 02:10, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
That was more a general comment with regard to copyediting etc. Hekerui (talk) 02:14, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Guten Morgen, Herr Hekerui. You've recently reversed the article ja:ラーム・ナーラーヤン to ja:ラム・ナラヤン on the basis of the Google search results. Yes, definitely the latter gets much higher number of hits than the former. But, its total results are ONLY 850 or so at the present, and that contains so many explicitly meaningless pages that are automatically copied from the original article in Wikipedia, so I'm afraid that the number doesn't make sense as an evidence for the proper wording and Google results can't hold any validity in this context. On the other hand, the former ラーム・ナーラーヤン can not be said an incorrect or irrelevant Japanese wording for the artist's name, because it properly reflects the discrimination between long/short vowels in the original Indian languages, as you may know. In many cases, such vowel distinctions easily get neglected in trasliterating process of Romanized Indian names into Japanese language due to lack of the knowledge, although adequacy in linguistic terms must be required and that fact can not be denied in any way, such as by Google results.
