Good Luck Charlie

Thanks for the quick rv... I misread the dates in the episode list. Think I'm going to go find some caffeine... --ElHef (Meep?) 00:31, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

The same editor corrupted the episode numbering sequence in the list of episodes article and increased the count there. I undid that edit and put the count back to what has actually aired. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:34, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Invitation to comment

Hi Geraldo, I'm inviting you to contribute your thoughts at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television#Absent. The discussion involves the utility of including "Absent" cast members from television series episode lists. I used Shake It Up as an example article, and I know you lurk around those parts, so I thought I'd drop you a note. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:16, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

To both Katydidit and Geraldo Perez, please check out the Sam & Cat talk page.  Thanks.  Cheers, allixpeeke (talk) 20:28, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

RE: Salma Hayek and White Hispanic,

She is listed on the White Hispanic and Latino Americans page. User: Alcazar77

References that support bio categories must be on the page the reference is added to, not some other page. This type of categorization is potentially contentious and must be well-referenced, not just some editors opinion based on physical appearance of subject. If you consider this important, find the reference used on that other page, add a sentence to two to the Salma Hayek article giving that info and using the reference, THEN add the category. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:45, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

The bio category is supported by the information in the article itself ("Her father's surname, Hayek, is of Lebanese origin,[8] [9] and she also has Spanish ancestry."). There is no mention of non-White ancestry in the Hayek article. User: Alcazar77 —Preceding undated comment added 17:56, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Not really, the page gives partial ancestry, not a complete ancestry. We only mention in articles what we have references for. Lack of mention of something is not conclusive that that something does not exist. You would need some reference from some reliable source making that conclusion, not a WP:SYNTHESIS of incomplete information in an article to make that conclusion. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:03, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Dove Cameron

An editor with as much experience as you should already know: You don't revert all of an edit when it's only a small part that is wrong; the reason given was not valid for the total reversion; the way that the hidden note was written looked like it was done by someone who didn't know what they were doing and was a zealous fan, and it should have referred reader to the talk page (which I have added); and Twitter is not considered a reliable source alone, it needs to have a secondary source to support it; and finally, you could have left a message on my talk page. --Musdan77 (talk) 06:36, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

I find that a edit summary is sufficient communications for explaining why an edit was undone - additional messages on talk pages are superfluous. Beyond ignoring the instructional note that I added, references were removed/moved but I saw no content changes that needed integration, . A verified twitter account of the subject is sufficient to meet the requirements of WP:BLPPRIVACY for the type of private, but not self-serving, info being referenced. Geraldo Perez (talk) 14:16, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
We can't (and shouldn't) say everything in an edit summary -- hence the word "summary". Like I said, I didn't know that you (or any other experienced editor) wrote that note. I meant no disrespect to you, and you shouldn't disrespect me either. Thanks for the link. --Musdan77 (talk) 22:35, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
No disrespect intended and I do appreciate the work you have done to make the article better. I have been reverting additions of birth name from the infobox for a while now so I do have a bit of a hair trigger when I see something added there, yet again, from my perspective. That is the main reason the article is semi-protected. Your addition to the hidden note should work to better head off this issue recurring. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:06, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
All right; understandable. I don't think I had seen a situation quite like that before (birth/other name). --Musdan77 (talk) 02:34, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
I couldn't think of another way of handling this situation at the time. Probably could be moved from the infobox to the lede as her full name along with the reference. She says that is her name so I guess it is. Geraldo Perez (talk) 02:45, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Francesca Capaldi was really born on that date. Hello Geraldo, it is not controversial. If you want you can google it and add it. I didn't add the link as I don't know how to reference on Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shane Cyrus (talkcontribs) 15:58, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

See the note in the article that you deleted and ignored when you added that unreferenced info. There is info on the talk page that is relevent to this. Google searches are never reliable sources in of themselves, they can lead to references and one of them is what must be used. That reference must meet the requirements of WP:BLPPRIVACY to be used in the article to support birth info. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:10, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Infobox television episode

There are some issues with proposed parameters for {{Infobox television episode}}. I've left a message at WT:TV about this but unfortunately the templates used in the TV project draw little interest, even though they often cause us grief. Because of this I'm approaching experienced editors directly, with a view to getting some more input. The discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Infobox television episode provides an introduction to the issues. Your attention would be greatly appreciated. --AussieLegend () 02:22, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Geraldo has almost certainly forgotten but he created this account at 18:55:43 GMT - I leave you to find on what date! — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:00, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

I have once again corrected his name however this time using tv.com as the source. I don't think it is reliable to use an actor's self created bio page as it is just platform to self promote and shouldn't be used as the basis for a reference. There he can write only what he wants to present as his image, including only using his stage name, to his fans. Sean Flynn-Amir is not exactly rolling of your tongue nor does it have the connection to his famous grandfather Errol Flynn or uncle Sean Flynn, which everyone mentions when they write about him - great for publicity isn't it. I think you'll agree that the use of tv.com rather than my initial use of imdb.com is a good compromise to both our choices. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mimaroba (talkcontribs) 01:59, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

See WP:BLPPRIVACY for what is generally required for birth info. TV.com is not considered a reliable source as it is edited by anonymous people and does not have a reputation for fact checking. Geraldo Perez (talk) 02:33, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Hey, if you disagree about the reference for his name, okay, although the fact is the guy is not using his real name and your continued use of the reference is no more reliable than imdb or tv.com.
However, you could have edited my post instead of being a dick and just undoing it because I also added information about him in relation to his uncle the actor and photojournalist Sean Flynn who has a wiki entry. Now I can't be fucked worrying about it. Well done, that's one less bit of factual information on wiki.
And like all personal info, that too requires a reference, which was not provided. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:05, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Firstly, wiki is the reference to itself with regard to Sean's mother's half brother being Sean Flynn, the actor and photojournalist as directed by the imbedded links. It states on his page that his maternal grandfather was Errol Flynn. Click on the link and look at Errol's marriage and family and you see it lists various wives and children including his only son Sean and daughter Rory (Sean's mum) but from different mothers (hence my addition to Sean's page). Note there is no references for any of the actress wives or children just embedded wiki links. If you go to Sean Flynn's page you will read that he was the only son of Errol Flynn. Note there is no reference for this just an embedded wiki link back to Errol Flynn.
This is often a normal way to do it, just look at the pages for Mickey Rooney and Kirk Douglas. Yes ideally it would be done like for Elizabeth Taylor with a million annotations but then wiki would only be 5% of its size.
I'm not about to go around correcting all of bloody wiki by searching out references for event and every error I find especially if I have to come across pedants like you who if you really had concerns should have gone searching for the information and updated the page yourself rather than just deleting info without a thought.
Anyone going to Sean's page could have had extra information him about his family background if you hadn't of deleted the info I added that may have educated them and triggered a further look into photojournalism or the Vietnam war. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mimaroba (talkcontribs) 04:32, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
First of all Wiki is NOT a reference to itself, Wiki articles cannot be used as a reliable source to support info that requires one in some other article. Articles stand alone and any info requiring references must have the reference in that article. If there is info in other articles you want to include then the reference that supported that info must also be included.
Also the article is about Sean Flynn (actor), not his relatives. He is notable for his own accomplishments, not because he is related to someone. Other than a mention (one short sentence), with reference, details about some other related person should not be in the article - the wikilink to that person's article is sufficient for anybody that wants the details.
If other articles don't have proper required references that does not set a precedent that some other article doesn't need them. Per WP:BLP policy personal info requires references. The other articles should be fixed if they don't comply with policy, not used to justify breaking policy for this one.
You added the info, it is your responsibility to provide the required references. Geraldo Perez (talk) 11:14, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

IMDb is not used as source for bio info, but curriculum vitaeXb2u7Zjzc32 (talk) 23:37, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
You are attempting to link two names as being the same person, the IMDb bio is the only place that link is made in that IMDb article. Find a better source such as TV Guide or People Magazine or even Getty Images - if what you say is correct there should be plenty of sources to support this. If you think it important, this should be easy to find. I think it is trivia since the article is not about him but don't really care as long as there is a good reference. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:43, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
"Allegra Leguizamo" was on John Leguizamo's wikipedia page, I added the "Allegra Leguizamo" IMDb link, what is the objection?Xb2u7Zjzc32 (talk) 23:49, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
It is IMDb being used as a reference and it is unnecessary as there are already two references in the article that establish that she is his daughter. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:56, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Then an external link to her IMDb page would not be a reference but a q.v., quod videre, "which to see"Xb2u7Zjzc32 (talk) 00:14, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
IMDb can be used as an external link when it adds to the article, just not as a reference. See Wikipedia:External links/Perennial websites#IMDb. WP:External links says external links should be in the article's external link section, not in the body of the article so in-line external links are discouraged. The proper inline format is [[IMDbName:3493797|Allegra Leguizamo]] for inline usage which looks like a regular wiki link - Allegra Leguizamo - but this use is contentious. She has 2 credits - I don't see how this adds much to her father's article. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:50, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Lab Rats (TV series) Infobox Attributes

Do you care to elaborate why you removed the attributes added. It makes the page look a little more unique to the show --Ians18 (talk) 05:11, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

The list of allowable attributes for a television series infobox is described at template:Infobox television/doc#Attributes - note that the attributes "bgcolour" and "colour text" are not listed. The fact that they work to change the colors is a side effect of how this template was implemented, but the documentation shows that they are not meant to be used. See also comments at Template talk:Infobox television#Colour. The overall reason to not permit color changes in most infoboxes is to maintain some consistency across all articles of the same type. Television series article have a color scheme, People articles have another. It is not considered desirable for most TV series to have a unique color scheme. Some do but that must be well justified and a special template, not this one, used to implement that scheme. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:02, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks for your response. Ians18 (talk) 00:34, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Noah Cyrus

More on the external images here. If a biography article doesn't have an image then why wouldn't all of them have that external image on there page? Because it goes against the images copyright. That image of Cyrus was from IMDb, which is an copyright website. LADY LOTUSTALK 20:53, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Other bio articles that don't have free-use images could and probably shoule have an external image as long as the image is not a copyright violation on the linked-to site. The external image I linked to is not a copyright violation on IMDb as IMDB has permission to use that image - we required free-use images, IMDB does not. It is a perfectly valid use of a the external media template used correctly, does not cause any copyright issues for Wiki, it is not linking to a copyright violation. The key phrase in WP:ELNEVER is "Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website has licensed the work, or uses the work in a way compliant with fair use." That is the case here. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:05, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
To add per WP:External_links/Perennial_websites#IMDb, IMDb is a permitted external link and the image I linked is hosted on IMDb. IMDb would not be permitted if content contained on that site were copyright violations. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:21, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't mean to be argumentative with the External Image thing. I really did think it was somehow like going against our policy but apparently not :) LADY LOTUSTALK 11:55, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

I don't see the need yet. I don't see a lot of vandalism, the article appears to be well-watched for now, and recent spurt of activity will probably be over after the first episode officially airs tonight. Right now just lots of people trying to jump the gun which is normal for new shows. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:57, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

The source given on Dove Cameron was provided by her social media and Ryan's social media. The first source was her confirming the relationship, the second was by Ryan confirming the relationship as well. Social medias have been used a sources many times on Wikipedia, such as Twitter and Instagram. For example, Fifty shades of Grey uses Instagram as a reliable source, especially if it's the official account. Social medias are known to be a reliable source when it's from an official account of the subject. I stand by my edit, because it is clearly stated in the sources provided. Until further notice that social medias aren't sources by rules of Wikipedia or mentioned by Wikipedia itself, I continue to write what I first wrote.

Callmemirela (talk) 01:34, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

See WP:RS and WP:SPS - you are required to show the sources are owned and controlled by the principals named - otherwise you can't use them. See also WP:BLP as a policy. Geraldo Perez (talk) 01:40, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

You undid my edit without reviewing what I edited. I added Twitter accounts instead of Instagram. I am undoing your edit, so you can review before undoing my edit before reviewing. Callmemirela (talk) 01:47, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Edit summary said you just reverted - add better edit summaries in future so there is no confusion. Geraldo Perez (talk) 01:48, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Thank you. And learn that other pages have Instagram as reliable sources. So accept the truth when someone adds Instagram, especially if someone mentions another Instagram account (double confirmation), and when the twitter account is revealed, it's a reliable source. Goodbye.

I stand by my understanding of WP:SPS - Instagram can only be used if it is validated from some reliable source. If it is not validated, it can't be used. A link from a reliable source like from a validated twitter account is required for all social media accounts or personal web sites. Geraldo Perez (talk) 01:53, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Disney Channel Celebrity Birth dates

Hello, I noticed you deleted the birthday of Sarah Gilman. Why? Last time, I tried putting Francesca Capaldi's brith date, which WAS official, but you deleted it. And I guess some other lucky guy decided to get away with it instead. I am only trying to fill in missing information that places such as Wikia deems official. I am a pretty smart guy and I pay close attention to these stars' birth dates and I even look at many websites like Disney confirming these are their real birth dates. If I make an edit and add say "May 4, 2014" to Fred Hutchinson or something, I know it's for real because I looked. Do you think I make this stuff up? You're wrong to think that I imagine this all in my head, it would be like saying the United States doesn't have an official date for the Declaration of Independence, and instead of July 4, 1776, YOU would put ca. 1776. By the way, I didn't come here to complain about birth dates fake or real. I only wish to contribute to Wikipedia and that's all I'm here to do. So if you think my help is not needed, then search Disney Channel Wikia sites yourself for proof, and I mean PROOF, for these so mentioned actors/actresses like Sarah Gilman whose profiles fully reveal the day and month they were born that year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marino13 (talkcontribs) 05:39, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

All personal info must have a reference per Wikipedia policy - see WP:BLP. You added personal info without providing the required reference. You got the info from somewhere, say where. If that source meets the standards of being a reliable source, see WP:RS, then it would be properly referenced. Lots of unusable info sources, though, such as all fan sites, wikias, and IMDb, that can't be used. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:56, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I see no point in your tagging these two pages with Wikia attribution templates. I've been watching them since they were created and saw that at first they were basically copied from Wikia, but after that other editors expanded the article with their own research and the articles now have nothing in common with the ones on Wikia. While Wikia articles consists of mostly fanmade content and plot explanation, our articles cite sources from people who are internally involved explaining how the characters were developed, etc. The article "Elsa (Disney)" on Wikia, actually, attribute to the corresponding article on this Wikipedia. I don't mind the attribution, but we cannot attribute things we don't copy to others. I haven't removed the template yet to wait for your responses. ALittleQuenhi (talk to me) 09:16, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

The attribution is pretty much required by the creative commons licensing requirements even if both articles have evolved well beyond the state they were at the time of the copy and have little or nothing in common now. It is part of the attribution history of the article which also must be maintained for the same CC reasons. Both the Wikia and Wiki articles were or are using content from the other in a somewhat collaborative manner so it is appropriate for both to give attribution to the other. Since we do know that the article was originally a copy what has followed is a derivative work that still needs to credit the original source. Geraldo Perez (talk) 09:41, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
So we have to attribute even past content? I'm asking because I developed one of the two articles and I had to rewrite everything from scrap without any references from Wikia; it's a bit weird that I have to attribute content that I wrote myself to someone I was nothing related to. ALittleQuenhi (talk to me) 09:51, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
In my opinion, if you assert the above in a message on the article talk page that all the content from Wikia was removed by you at some given date and that you are the sole author of the replacement as of that date, then the attribution could be removed (others may disagree). Basically the same effect as if the old article was deleted and started over from scratch. Geraldo Perez (talk) 10:02, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

Sam and Cat cancellation

Sam and and cat was Cancelled on Thursday July 17,2014 at 7:30 PM and aired with it's last episode titled #Gettinwiggy. It was the 36 episode of the 1 season. Audience members thought there was going to be another season, but there wasn't due to Jennette McCurdy leak of inappropriate pictures and she states that Nickelodeon treated her poorly because of her co-member Ariana Grande has a higher salary then her. This is why McCurdy did not show up to the Nickelodedoen kids choice awards in 2014.

Can you please put this on the sam and cat page and change the June 8 2013-preasent and changed it to June 8 2013- July 17 2014 It would be kindly appreciated Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.166.70.186 (talk) 14:32, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

July 17 is in the future (today is July 13) so nothing can be stated in the past tense as you are proposing. We are still waiting for some reliable source that says the show is "cancelled". Best info we know is already in the article. See discussion at Talk:List of Sam & Cat episodes#"series finale" for more about this. We are in no hurry to add stuff on Wikipedia, the articles (includes List of Sam & Cat episodes) will evolve as we get more well-referenced info to add to them. The articles will likely be updated after the final episode has actually aired, which it hasn't yet. Geraldo Perez (talk) 14:44, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

I removed the section at the bottom, but then you put it back several minutes later. Is it ok if I remove the section at the bottom, because it already says the same thing at the top. Paul Badillo (talk) 23:09, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

I apologize, you're right, I missed that. I removed the redundant entry again. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:13, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

This seems to be a marginal case for Prod or for keeping. I added an image with him in it. Perhaps userfy? Bearian (talk) 22:50, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

That image is not free-use so can't be used to illustrate the appearance of a living person. The image is justified to illustrate the appearance of the characters of the TV series he is in but this is the only non-free-use justification possible for that image. I'll probably AfD the article if the PROD is removed - I did look for sources to justify WP:GNG but couldn't find any. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:49, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Sarah Gilman's Birthday

Okay, I give up. I searched and searched for good sources that confirm January 18, 1996 as her official birthdate. It's like the internet is purposefully trying to hinder my chances of finding it. I guess her Wikipedia profile will forever be empty of a month and day, what a shame. No matter how hard I try, I guess some other user will have better luck finding it. I'm abandoning my editing works on Disney Channel stars and shows for good. Hope you're happy Mr. Perez, you've left me a miserable person. Marino13 (talk) 02:22, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

See WP:BLPPRIVACY for what is required. Private info such as birthdays needs real good references. Geraldo Perez (talk) 02:26, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Laura Marano's Picture

Is it possible for you to add a picture of Laura Marano for her Wikipedia page and not an external image. It has been picture less for a long time now and she has been active for a while now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kate5510 (talkcontribs) 15:55, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

It would be great to find a free-use image that we could use. So far there isn't one that anyone can find so the external image link is all we have for now. Free-use images are hard to find - generally they show up on flickr but the photographer must give a free-use license for us to use it. Professional photographers rarely do that. Sometimes amateur photographers do give the release. Almost all images on the web have restrictive copyrights so can't be used in a bio article. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:09, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Here is a link to tumblr where I think there might be some free to use, unedited pictures of Laura http://lauramaranosource.tumblr.com/page/4

The person who owns that account is saying that all the pictures there are free to use but that person does not own the pictures so any release statement of that sort is meaningless. I checked on some of them and some are from magazine photoshoots which are obviously not free for all uses - the magazine will definitely own the copyright. See commons:Licensing for a bit more on what is required for an image to be used on wikipedia projects. We need a pretty explicit statement from the actual photographer that permits unrestricted use of that photographer's image before we can upload it and use it. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:12, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

I have found a few pictures (I think) with a commons licence https://www.flickr.com/search/?q=Laura+marano&l=comm&ct=0&mt=all&adv=1 If the photos are right then I suggest this one: https://www.flickr.com/photos/disneyabc/14002311446/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kate5510 (talkcontribs) 21:09, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

I uploaded the file to Commons as Commons:File:Laura Marano 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards.jpg it immediately got tagged for deletion because "The original licence is CC-by-ND which does not allow for derivative works." All uploads on wiki must permit any use including derivative works. All the files at that page are licensed that way so looks like they can't be used. I noticed as I planned to crop the image for use in the article and that is not permitted by the license. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:00, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Seasons in Web Shows

Hello! I noticed that on What's Next for Sarah? one of the things you said were "Does the concept of "season" even apply to a web series..." I just wanted to say that there are many web shows that have seasons. Take Red vs. Blue or RWBY for example. Red vs. Blue has done 12 season and I believe RWBY is on season 2 (and they are web shows).

I hope I am not coming off as rude or a know it all, I just wanted to clarify this for you :D -- RiMiEg007 (talk) 15:56, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Good to know, thanks for the info. Still we need an announced season 2 to know if this particular show will have seasons. Not every show, TV series included, get to a second season and articles shouldn't presume multiple seasons until it happens. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:05, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Dove Cameron.jpg

The image is Creative Commons, I'm sure of it. The bot has seem not to be able to link to it. Check the flickr sie: disneyabc

https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/disneyabc/9479403863/in/set-72157634358081093/

I am almost positive the Creative Commons is correct on it.

Again, if I am wrong, I am sorry, but I am pretty sure it's the same logos used for other images.

ZydrateSupporter (talk) 03:44, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Right at the bottom of the photo it says "© 2013 Disney". Disney did not give a free-use release and they never do for promotional photos. A free-use release would explicitly say something like creative commons, attribution required. See example at bottom of this page for a free-use release CC BY-SA 3.0, need something like that on flickr for use images there. It is very rare that a pro-level photo will have free-use so most of us get really suspicious when we see a pro photo on a bio article. Most flickr images we can use are candids taken by fans, not posed promo pictures. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:59, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
Under the copyright it shows the Creative Commons logos that when clicked, shows the 2.0 license, which I am sure images on here have used. I thought 2.0 could be used as well? Unless I'm missing something. Or does it have to be 3.0?

ZydrateSupporter (talk) 4:13, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

The licence used is "Attribution-NoDerivs 2.0 Generic (CC BY-ND 2.0)" - The term that makes that license not free-use is "NoDerivatives — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you may not distribute the modified material." Images hosted on Wiki Commons must allow all uses including derivative works - that license does not permit that so we can't use it. What we look for is a license that permits use with attribution. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:22, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
I understand entirely now. Thanks for clearing that up. Sorry for keeping you so busy with this. Hopefully I can find a proper image soon.

ZydrateSupporter (talk) 04:29, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Look at top message on this talk page. I just went through this attempting to get a picture of Laura Marano and flickr review on Commons kicked it out because of the CC BY-ND 2.0 license. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:34, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

I saw that you said that Prescott officially is her last name on Medianet. But it never was. And the message was from twitter, right. But what about Bertram Winkle. Trish De la Rosa. Dez Wade. Garrett Spenger. Delia Delfano. This expands it right. CHall2002 (talk) 00:12, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

No, the reference for "Prescott" is http://www.webcitation.org/66YLUHwap a copy of a Disney press release. The quote there that supports that that name is official is "Disney Consumer Products debuted the D-Signed Jessie Prescott Collection, a line of tween apparel inspired by the Jessie character." The other last names are in-universe plot trivia and are not how the characters are officially credited. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:31, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

User persistenly changing episode numbering in List of Victorious episodes

Hi Geraldo,

Here's the current history of the article [2], and after your reverting edits from user 2.25.148.136 on August 28, the user came back again and changed the episode numbering again, and this time also added the "iParty with Victorious" episode. I reverted the latest edits from the user, and then issued a level 3 warning, indicating that it's the second time in less than a day that the user has done this. I am tempted to go to administration with this one, but have passed for now. Just thought I'd inform you.

With that user wanting to add the "iParty with Victorious" episode, I am attempting to revive discussion on that article's talk page about its inclusion. The title of the episode in itself suggests that it would go exclusively with iCarly, but as the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its cover. For me, though, I'm not sure whether the episode should be in the Victorious list, and I'm inclined to leave the current episode list without it.

MPFitz1968 (talk) 13:51, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Editor is trying to resurrect old settled issues and doesn't even try to explain why. Episode renumbering is highly disruptive as the episode numbers are anchors for inbound links (form #epnn) and there are a lot of links inbound to individual episodes to this list article from other articles that break when the list is renumbered like this. Geraldo Perez (talk) 14:15, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

User CNBFries

Hi Geraldo,

User CNBFries went on and moved the contents of the episode list for Girl Meets World into another article titled List of Girl Meets World (TV series) episodes, in violation of WP:CWW. I've restored the main article's contents, but the other article still remains, with the content that was moved there; article needs to be deleted or be another redirect to the main article. Thanks. MPFitz1968 (talk) 22:26, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Redirected this version as I did the other minor spelling variation he created previously. Still wrong location for the list article. A split might be indicated if the main article gets too unbalanced with episode content but if it is done it must be at the proper title after an unprotect request as that title has full protection now to prevent creation. Copyright Vio

I see you marked my uploads as copyright infringements,I believe what you did was the right thing to do,I just don't understand why Wikipedia is so concerned about copyright violation of images.I've seen lots of ordinary people uploading content to Wikipedia from Flickr claiming that they own copyrights(Clearly they don't).Anyway my point is I didn't mean to break copyright laws on purpose,I just live in a counry where copyright laws doesn't apply(surprisingly).I understand the necessity of removing those images.I assure you that I won't upload copyrighted content without prior permission.Thank you!--ChamithN (talk) 04:18, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia is very serious about copyrights for text and images. There is potential legal liability to the Wikipedia Foundation based on US law. Wiki makes all its contents available for free and basically warrants that what we release is all free-use including images (with the major exception images with valid non-free-use justifications on WIki but all Commons images must be free-use). There are a lot of copyright violations on flickr - flickr doesn't seem to care unless the copyright owner complains. I get very suspicious about pro-level photos added to bio articles, they are usually copyright violations with the major exception of a few profession photographers who will release their images. These usually have a real name on Flickr and the photos are full-sized with a valid EXIF. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:36, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
@Geraldo Perez: I'm not familiar with Copyright laws,I wouldn't add those photos if I knew copyright violation is punishable by law.I currently resides out of US,So Copyright laws aren't applicable over where I live.Your information gave me a good insight to copyright laws.Thank you again--ChamithN (talk) 04:47, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Wiki Foundation is legally liable (can be sued by the copyright owner) and it is in the US and governed by US laws. Individual contributors are pretty much immune from any legal consequences for copyright violations other than being blocked from editing Wiki for repeated violations after warnings. IPs

Sometimes I wonder why we let IPs edit. Most seem to need a "Wikipedia drivers course". After the dramas with 99.170.244.84 yesterday, I see he's back to his tricks. I'm having an unrelated problem with an IP at Two and a Half Men (season 11) who thinks the image he added looks fine, despite numerous obvious problems. *sigh* --AussieLegend () 14:12, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

There a some IPs that are constructive, but don't seem to be many on the articles I watch. At least with static IPs like 99.... there is a history and some chance that messages will be read, although this one looks to either ignore notes about our standards or more likely, based on actions, to just disdain them.

I think the image added to that season page strongly overemphasizes one of the cast members, is a pointless decoration and adds nothing to the article. Geraldo Perez (talk) 14:37, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

I agree about the image but I was willing to let it slide, even though it doesn't look like her. --AussieLegend () 14:54, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Because I don't know how to add pictures on Wikipedia yet. -- Zach 22:43, 28 September 2014 (UTC) WanderIsAwesome2001

Article does not meet WP:GNG guidelines as there is no significant coverage in third party sources independent of the subject, just an interview with the creator which is not a third party source. Needs news articles and evaluations in other sources to be notable. Article will likely get tagged for deletion for those reasons. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:03, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
I've nominated both character articles, the remaining episode article and the two categories for deletion. None of these should survive XfD. --AussieLegend () 00:06, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Olivia Holt

Hello Geraldo. Considering the quotes you wrote in your recent editions in Olivia Holt This page (which, as a coincidence, this reference appears in the article) or this page (That says more or less the same as in the other... but more complete.) can be counted as independent sources or not? Greetings and good luck! --Mega-buses (discusión / Talk) 17:22, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

http://www.popstaronline.com/olivia-holt-signs-to-hollywood-records/ is better as Mio Vukovic is the one making that announcement - he is a Disney official therefore he is making an official announcement. That site is a bit soft as a reliable source, though, but OK in my opinion for this info if added as an additional source that what is already in the article. If would be best if a press release was used as the source if one could be found. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:32, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your help! --Mega-buses (discusión / Talk) 18:17, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Would appreciate your opinion

Since you voted for it , I would appreciate your opinion on how to best resolve this discussion. Even though the discography is now a separate article, there are occasionally attempts to restore it to Selena Gomez, usually in an ineffective way such as this, and I don't know how to resolve it once and for all. Adding hidden notes really doesn't help. --AussieLegend () 17:26, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

Some amount of selective detail could be left - see The Beatles#Discography for a FA example. I personally don't like article sections with just a link and I think at least something should be left after a split. WP:SPLIT suggests that for size splits. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:43, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
I'm with you on article sections with just a link. If there's nothing but a link, then it should be in the "See also" section, which was the problem with this article. But, the ideal article would have no "See also" or "External links" sections. I was thinking a short summary as you've indicated on Thewormsplayer's talk page but I wasn't sure what should go there. Thanks for The Beatles suggestion. I'll have a look. --AussieLegend () 18:53, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
Oh, I see you've already done it. Good work and thanks. I've expanded the section with a paragraph from Selena Gomez & the Scene discography. That should be enough. --AussieLegend () 19:28, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
Despite our efforts, the summary was removed a short while ago.[3] I've restored it and added a note, but..... --AussieLegend () 16:38, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
That seemed kind of random. Different editor. I wish people would at least try to justify making major changes to articles. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:42, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
Deletion of the summary was out of the blue, but adding only Stars Dance to the article is the norm. --AussieLegend () 17:48, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
I don't think it would be overlinking to link to the key articles in the summary. Readers may go directly to this section from the TOC and links here would be useful. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:03, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

List of Jessie episodes — SonicJTT/Instajosh

That latest edit made by Instajosh is along the same lines as what SonicJTT had done to get blocked due to violating WP:3RR. I don't know if this is a sockpuppet, but I am suspicious. MPFitz1968 (talk) 22:33, 1 November 2014 (UTC)

Unfriendly warning (unwarranted?)

I landed on the page "The Monkees (album)" to find a yellow band at the top of the page saying "You have a new message (last change)." When I followed the link I found a very unfriendly message saying "Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Liv and Maddie." I followed the link to Liv and Maddie to find a page that did not look at all familiar. A page on which I would not make any change because I am unfamiliar with the topic. I rarely make changes and they are usually just very minor changes to grammar, punctuation (extremely rare), or some point of which I am sure and have verified with a reliable source before making the change. I'm curious as to why this message would display on a page that I am viewing that has nothing to do with the page that was "unconstructively" edited and NOT by me. A glitch? Should I just ignore it? I'm just curious.

Ferdw Ferdw (talk) 23:24, 1 November 2014 (UTC)

Is Son of the Bronx a reliable source?

Is Son of the Bronx a reliable source? I have been using it to add ratings to articles. The WP:TVFAQ says that there is no consensus within the community if it's reliable or not. A pro is that it has a history of accuracy, and the data usually comes straight from Nielsen. The website has been referenced by other publications. A con is that it's on Blogspot, and the author isn't well known. Dcbanners (talk) 22:30, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Comes up on new ones each time editing. Frequents the "20xx in American television" articles adding some good info and a lot a bad info mostly about cancellation dates of TV series. It takes a lot of effort to sort out the good from the bad on these articles as there is a lot of somewhat complex tables involved. Blocks probably won't help at all on a single IP. It would be nice to find a way to block those edits. So far protects on the target pages seem to be the only cure. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:23, 20 November 2014 (UTC)

I have requested another protect on 2014 in American television (on WP:RPP now) as the previous protect did quell most of the disruption. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:29, 20 November 2014 (UTC)

It's been protected - let's see how that holds up. Let me know if you see it resume. m.o.p 14:49, 20 November 2014 (UTC)

Invitation to RfC

Cyphoidbomb has opened an RfC at Talk:Phineas and Ferb (season 4) aimed at resolving an issue with episode numbering. We're hoping that other experienced editors like you will drop in and leave appropriate comments. Thanks. --AussieLegend () 04:11, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Blue's clues episode Hide and Seek is a season 3 episode and Blue's room videos are considered Blue's Clues videos. The way I edit is more relevant. --174.88.30.93 (talk) 22:09, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Find a source of info that meets WP:RS standards to support your changes to the article. Anything you get from Wikia is suspect as Wikia is a fan-site with anonymous editors and no fact checking. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:03, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Hub Television Networks' first acquisition

i gonna to acquire Wikipedia from Wikimedia because my division company will not only have TV channels, also, my division will acquire some of Wikimedia assets, and adding it to Hub Television Networks division company, Sorry, Wikimedia assets will acquired by me. 186.31.6.247 (talk) 16:23, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

That makes no sense. Delusional at best. Keep your fantasies out of Wiki. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:29, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
What is another company that will acquire Wikimedia, Comcast will possibly acquire this company, i dont know the possible sale for Wikimedia. 190.25.67.85 (talk) 16:39, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
Wiki is not for sale. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:00, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
Why, why Wikipedia is an independent company, why.. 186.29.115.2 (talk) 17:38, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
Read Wikimedia Foundation for why. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:40, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

Farkle (Girl Meets World)

Farkle's not even credited anymore in the guest starring spot. Corey Fogelmanis is now credited as "also starring" without his character's name being shown. If you watch, they don't put the last names of barely ANY guest star. So that's most likely why. His name was confirmed in the show and should be reflected here. If you want anymore confirmation, tweet the Degrassi writers if you must (they have their own Twitter account btw). His father (mind you) is Stuart Minkus (whom he lives with). I mean come on now! I just thoroughly believe his last name should be added.

Also while I'm here, may I fix the episode list with him being credited as "also starring" then the list switches him back to "guest star" two or three episodes later (when he's credited as "also starring" still.

I know, I know. I sound a little crazy with this but I just believe its kind of weird that he can't have his last name credited since you guys are going by the crediting system which is for mainly all guest stars (to reduce the space). Just consider it, please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ijoshiexo (talkcontribs) 03:15, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Ijoshiexo: There is a discussion about this very issue on the article talk page, please add to the discussion and see my comments there. Also see http://www.disneychannelmedianet.com/web/showpage/showpage.aspx?program_id=3158326&type=lead for where the official names of the other main characters came from. Also there is a discussion on the talk page about how Fogelmanis should be credited in the episodes as he changes between guest and also starring. I have also commented on that issue as well there. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:27, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

It's showing up perfectly for me. Maybe we should check with others too to make sure of it and see if it is just you or if it is a problem with the table itself. Signing out, A Clockwork Orange From the Future | Ask me anything. 22:48, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

AClockworkOrange2: I tried with 3 different browsers, my DSL connection, cell data connections and a VPN using fresh searches each time. I got back 24 results keyword searching for "Disney Wander Over Yonder" - 101-113 and 115 are all that I see. I am in US, my VPN outlet is in California, Cell data in Kansas, DSL in Colorado. Weird. I'd like to see verification from someone else. Maybe get different results outside of US. Geraldo Perez (talk) 22:57, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

I set my VPN outlet to UK (London) and Japan (Tokyo) and get same results. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:08, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

Singing posts

About the singing post thing, I know how to do it, I just kept forgetting. -- Joseph Prasad (talk) 20:40, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Just a reminder. I see you went back and fixed it. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:53, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Happy Holidays!

A bit of a form letter from me to you (don't go poking around in my edit history or it'll get even more obvious how much of a form letter it is!) to wish you happy holidays, a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, a Happy December, Happy Snow, Happy Sunshine, and an otherwise generally happy end to 2014. Thanks for all the constructive editing, support and civil discourse. Here's to another year of assuming good faith of one another. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:38, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

Girl Meets World sock

Question

Why did you change everything I did back to the way it was before I even touched it. I mean, I don't think I did that much difference. I even feel I kinda improved it a little. Just asking, could you tell me why it needed to be changed.

Sincerely, Zachary A. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zachie102 (talkcontribs) 00:43, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

@Zachie102:: You were capitalizing words that shouldn't be capitalized - see MOS:CAPS for more. You were also replacing the correct formal referrals to the subject "Lynch" with the much too familiar for an encyclopedia "Ross". We only use last names or full names in articles, never just a first name. Geraldo Perez (talk) 02:46, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
Roger - Ok thank you so much for your answer, by the way the resources that I took away was by accident I was using my iPad, it kept messing up, sorry about that... :( ~~Zachary A~~
Yeah, I find editing with my iPad a bit iffy sometimes as well. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:50, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Character information split

The page for Austin and Ally has become too long and unorganized. The Character Page needs to be created and other data reorganized. A good example of how to do this can be found on Phineas and Ferb, a page once as disorganized as Austin and Ally currently is. Rhatsa26X (talk) 04:13, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

I don't oppose this anymore - let's see what consensus says. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:50, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Hoax or not hoax?

Hey GP, got any thoughts about Phibian Mike? Looks hoaxy to me. I get the sense that this project has been "in the works" for a bunch of years, but has never materialized, and some kids are trying to make this vapor project appear real. The references in the article don't mention Phibian Mike, so I'm suspicious. Thought I'd run it past you since you seem to know stuff. :) Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:00, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

I say hoax based on a failed development project. I put up for AfD. Other edits by same person are also suspicious. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:32, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: I am also suspicious that the article creator is a sock of KuhnstylePro. I found a wikia page on the same subject created by another of his socks. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:24, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
Oh, interesting! I was hopeful that he was getting help at his school and was finally mellowing out. Too bad. I've got dox on him, although it didn't take much but following some of his sock accounts around the internet a little bit. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:32, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
