User:GS1921/sandbox[edit]

Hi. Just a friendly reminder about user page categorization.

I've noticed your user sandbox page (linked above) is appearing in regular content categories. This is discouraged. See WP:DRAFTNOCAT and WP:USERNOCAT for additional information.

Usually the situation is remedied by placing a leading colon at the beginning of each category declaration like this for example:

[[:Category:American male journalists]]

or, by bracketing all category declaration(s) with Template:Draft categories like so:

[[Category:American male journalists]]
[[Category:1955 births]]
[[Category:New York City-related lists]]
[[Category:Czechoslovakia]]

At least some of the sources do not support the content. I updated one to support the Pelikán quote, but then also found the source for the next paragraph did not support the content as it's WP:SYNTH. Simply citing a list of articles he wrote is not sufficient to support "While at RFE/RL between 1996 and 2003, Naegele focused primarily on the Western Balkans,...". You need sources that explicitly state that. Also, interviews or what he has written are primary sources and not independent so should only be used very sparingly and for only very basic facts, like date of birth. If you have questions or need help, you ask at the Teahouse.

Well done on creating the draft, and it may potentially meet the relevant requirements (including WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO) but presently it is not clear that it does. As other reviewers have noted, Wikipedia's basic requirement for entry is that the subject is notable. Essentially subjects are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. To properly create such a draft page, please see the articles ‘Your First Article’, ‘Referencing for Beginners’ and ‘Easier Referencing for Beginners’. Also, if you have any connection to the subject, including being paid, you have a conflict of interest that you must declare on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please click the link).
