Dicussion

Hello, I will tell you if you should add “Current storm information” heading and add current and important information for Cyclone Biparjoy. Without that heading, everyone might not know the current wind speed and barometric pressure so add that please. Thanks for reading! - 72.137.123.223 (talk) 21:30, 11 June 2023 (UTC)

I said on the article talk page, not my talk page. 📖 (💬/📜) 21:30, 11 June 2023 (UTC)

Just a reminder

I saw that you have been removing the |year= parameter on some infoboxes, but the parameter doesn't do nothing. As the doc for the effects of infobox weather event says, "Adding a |year= parameter will also indicate the year when displaying monetary values for contextualizing cost at a specific point in time." Basically, it communicates to the reader about what year the event occurred in and helps add context. It is more useful for events further in the past (without the parameter, readers may think the damages are in current year dollars) or events where the damages are calculated after the event. So this is just a reminder that the year parameter does do something. Cheers! RandomInfinity17 (talk - contributions) 16:19, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

@RandomInfinity17 Yeah, I just saw that it do something. Sorry for the mishap, I was just blind. 📖 (💬/📜) 16:24, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, I figured that you just didn't see that. RandomInfinity17 (talk - contributions) 16:40, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

Typhoon infoboxes

Hi, please don't remove the |basin = Wpac parameter from the {{Infobox weather event/JTWC}} subbox for typhoons - it makes the box display "Category X-equivalent typhoon/super typhoon" instead of just "Category X-equivalent tropical cyclone". (Removing it from the {{Infobox weather event}} box is fine though, since that one's not meant to use that parameter.) ~ KN2731 {talk · contribs} 10:42, 26 June 2023 (UTC)

@KN2731 Alright, I'll remind myself to keep the basin parameter for the JTWC. 📖 (💬/📜) 16:21, 26 June 2023 (UTC)

Your signature

Please change your signature to comply with WP:SIG. Specifically, your username must be visible. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:54, 29 June 2023 (UTC)

@Bbb23 Do I only need to change my username on my signature or is there more? 📖 (💬/📜) 17:19, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
Well, I personally don't like icons in usernames, but I don't think you have to change things because of my personal druthers. :-) Anyway, I'm not an expert on signatures, but I believe just making sure your username is visibly spelled out will probably be enough. Why don't you do that and we'll see how it looks?--Bbb23 (talk) 17:30, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
I tried it out, and I'm not so sure about it. It's good enough for me to use it, though. 📖TheBigBookOfNaturalScience📖 (💬/📜) 17:46, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
Definitely better, but the way you did your username makes it a little hard to read, kinda blurry.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:24, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
@Bbb23 How about now? 📖 TheBigBookOfNaturalScience 📖 (💬/📜) 18:41, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
Wonderful, thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:46, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
Hey TBBONS, I had one more suggestion about your signature having to do with the icons. After your username, you have icons for your userpage, your talk page, and your contributions. That's fine. Before your username you have the same icon for your userpage. I'd eliminate that first icon so your sig starts with your username. Don't see the need to have two identical icons linking to the same thing.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:16, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
Done. TheBigBookOfNaturalScience 📖 (💬/📜) 15:43, 2 July 2023 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi TheBigBookOfNaturalScience. After reviewing your request, I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2023-08-04. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 23:08, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

I do not understand my warning

Hope you have a good day but I got a warning for adding some content to a page SSC I do not understand because I added a link to prove that I did not make it myselfAlex2278 (talk) 01:05, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

You probably didn't know that you didn't cite the evidence properly. See WP:CITE. TheBigBookOfNaturalScience 📖 (💬/📜) 01:10, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
So I need to cite the evidence not just a link? Alex2278 (talk) 01:11, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Yep. To learn how, click on the link I told you to see. TheBigBookOfNaturalScience 📖 (💬/📜) 01:13, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
How long does it take for the warning to expire Alex2278 (talk) 01:14, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
The warnings don't expire, however, you are allowed to remove them. TheBigBookOfNaturalScience 📖 (💬/📜) 01:16, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

Kiff

Hello, I noticed you reverted my addition to the Kiff article. I must say that I was being neutral of what I wrote. I was neither being positive nor negative about what I was writing. Red White Blue and Yellow (talk) 20:41, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

@Red White Blue and Yellow Not everyone thinks that the character has the voice of the person you typed. Everyone has difference views. foobarbaz 20:43, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

Trouted

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

You have been trouted for: Hey, the Sneeze source mentions the 3 sneeze responses. Why is that not a reliable source? It's been there since forever and it's the biggest science and language hub for Iceland and Icelandic. Cheers :)

@Avalean, When you added the three sneezes, I didn't see a source next to the text, so I reverted it as unsourced. That should answer your question. foobarbaz 18:06, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
So if I move the source to the end that should be good enough? Because it covers everything I mention. I even say that in the edit comment. avalean (talk) 18:08, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
@Avalean As long as you call the source, It'll be fine. foobarbaz 18:09, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
Thank you :) And feel free to yell at me if there's anything. avalean (talk) 18:11, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Reverted image of "window keypad"

Hi, can you tell me why you reverted our image of a keypad being operated through a shop window last Sunday. Although this image was taken from a "flier" advertising the product at the time, we do not make or sell them now, so it is not advertising. The product did exist at the time and was for sale to the general public (see the 1991 Farnell catalogue). Although this was a new technology at the time, I think it made an important contribution to the subsequent development of "Capacitance Sensing" keypads and merits entry in Wikipedia. Kind regards Ron Binstead (Touchscreen1) Touchscreen1 (talk) 10:21, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

@Touchscreen1 The revert was a misclick. I meant to revert this edit only, but I was editing too fast. Sorry for the confusion. foobarbaz 10:43, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
Is it okay if I put the image back again? Touchscreen1 (talk) 11:50, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
@Touchscreen1 Yes. foobarbaz 12:43, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
Thanks. Touchscreen1 (talk) 13:10, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

Your vandalism backlog template

Hello, is it okay if I might copy it and credit you and the original owner, or do I add your template and update the vandalism information documentation about that your template looks similar to the pending changes backlog? Thanks. 64andtim (chat) 21:15, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

@64andtim I am completely fine with whatever you plan doing with it. foobarbaz 21:18, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

Edits on Pachacuti

Hello. I have seen that you have reverted my edits on Pachacuti, because of a lack of sources. Of course it is possible that some of the claims I added to said article aren’t sourced enough.

But this edit tried to restructure the confusing presentation of the article, and I was just about to leave a message on the discussion page. Let me explain. The first title is « biographie », so far so good. It’s a short biography of Pachacuti, just like on any other wikipedia page. However then there is « succession » after biography. My first thought was that it explains the succession of Pachacuti. But it actually just explains his rise to power in more detail. My second thought was that it generally explains successions at the time of Pachacuti, since it also extensive speaks about Pachacuti’s own succession. But after thinking about it the section « succession »of the article also includes biographical details with no filiation to any sort of succession. On another note it is extremely uncommon to have such a section on any Wikipedia article. So I decided to remove succession and add it to biography (while also adding a few additional claims you may want to remove if you believe they are unsourced). Reman Empire (talk) 18:45, 12 August 2023 (UTC)

@Reman Empire Oh. Now I see. Apologies for the revert, feel free to edit. foobarbaz 18:50, 12 August 2023 (UTC)

@FooBarBaz Sorry for not overriding the image you uploaded. I didn't notice that you uploaded it until it was too late. TheWxResearcher (talk) 02:56, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

@TheWxResearcher No worries. I completely understand your reasoning. I'll try to slow down on the uploading to make sure no similarities exist. Cheers, foobarbaz 03:01, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

An article you recently created, National Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Peru, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
