User group

Eric: Have you ever set up a Wiki user group? I notice that on the menu on the left side of the page. Setting up a user group may prove to be a useful tool in developing these pages and working as a group. Woodmai (talk) 15:58, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

That's not something I've come across, Woodmai. Sorry. Will have a hunt around. "View user groups" refers to user access rights. Esowteric+Talk 15:59, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
There are WikiProjects. Esowteric+Talk 16:01, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
And there are talk pages, like your user talk page, or maybe even the sandbox talk page. Esowteric+Talk 16:05, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
You could maybe create a project page in your own user namepace, like Idries Shah project group? Esowteric+Talk 16:18, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Shah page

Thanks for pointing out that we could use the Shah page as an example - template - style guide. I also agree with your assessment that it may be too comprehensive for book articles. I am working on reviewing articles on other books by other authors. I may place these examples in a sandbox for others to review. This recipe book (if you will) will allow us to steal the best examples from others. Also, it will allow us to best present the book as the style of the book changes. For example: "Learning How to Learn" is a different type of book than say "Reflections". As always, I love your thoughts and ideas please feel free to chime in anytime. Thanks a lot, Woodmai. Great to see you getting into the swing of things!
One more item to add to your rapidly-growing storehouse: In headings (with the exception of things like book titles), Wikipedia uses sentence case, not title case, so it would be "Shah page" rather than "Shah Page". Feel free to ask away, any time. Regards, Esowteric+Talk 14:46, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
Rules - So many f____ing rules.  ;-) Woodmai (talk) 15:29, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

Article Review: Magic Monastery

Eric: Can you review Ulrika's article on the Magic Monastery. The draft is in her Sandbox. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Wikullis If you have any suggestions let her know. If it is fine then leave her a message telling her to publish it. My biggest concern is the Wiki police and their requirements. Thanks as we get more experienced we will learn the pitfalls and traps and be able to avoid them on our own without so much oversight on your part. Again, thanks for the help and guidance, it is really appreciated and helps us get through the learning curve much faster. Woodmai (talk) 14:20, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Cheers David, will take a look and suggest changes after dinner. Esowteric+Talk 14:28, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Sandbox help

Thank you so much,Esowteric. It was the red links that was bothering me. Wikullis (talk) 08:47, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

You're welcome, Wikullis. Esowteric+Talk 08:49, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
I'm Eric, by the way, and feel free to call me that. Is it okay to call you by your real name (as it's against Wikipedia policy to "out" people's real names, unless they're perfectly happy with that). Regards, Esowteric+Talk 08:57, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Esowteric and thank´s again. I didn't know this. Wikullis (talk) 12:12, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks Eric, you´ve been so very helpful! I've copied and included your text now. Where and how did you find it all? I really have to learn to search the internet!! By the way, when I answer you like I do now, shall I do it here or under New section? Wikullis (talk) 05:33, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

You've done really well, Ulrika! Thanks a lot.
If it's the same topic, you can just add it to the same section, Ulrika. If it's a new topic, just create a new section. Don't worry too much.
I think I googled "asian affairs" "october 1972" "journal of the royal central asian society" (now known as Royal Society for Asian Affairs).
I think you can go ahead and create the page now, if you like, Ulrika. Just click on The Magic Monastery and paste into that, remove the "<!--" and "-->" from around the categories (they were there to stop the sandbox page showing in the categories), then save. After that, someone will upload and add a book cover. Well done, and thanks again! Esowteric+Talk 05:59, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
Finally, when the article page is saved, click on the "Talk" tab, just to the right of the "Article" tab, and create talk page. Just add something like {{Talk header}} (a template) at the top, add an edit summary like "Created talk page for article." and save the talk page. Esowteric+Talk 06:12, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

What do I choose? This sandbox is in the article namespace. Either move this page into your userspace, or remove the {{User sandbox}} template.Wikullis (talk) 06:27, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

Remove {{User sandbox}}. Sorry, forgot that was there! That's at the top of the page.Esowteric+Talk 06:29, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
Have done that for you. Esowteric+Talk 06:31, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
