R. J. Ellory continued

Once again, two paragraphs of my biog have been removed from my wikipedia page. Please could you tell me who keeps doing this, and why? I have replaced them, yet again, and I really would apprciate it if they could remain there. As I've already said, to see who has made changes, why and when, go to the page and click on "View History" at the top of the page. Hereyou will see all the details listed. Esowteric+Talk 16:58, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I've read it all. Good work, on his article and trying to converse with him (Here's hoping.....) I read [1] this earlier, also about authors wanting control over their own article. It gives a good explanation for why we don't take people's word for it; RJE will keep adding unsourced stuff back in, but just because he says it's true doesn't make it right! So, am I not a reliable source about my own life? That biog has been there for a long, long time and - all of a sudden - it's been questioned as credible when I wrote it? I don't understand this at all. How do I speak to the person who is making these changes? I really don't understand the wikipedia protocol, nor your instructions about how to make changes. Please can you tell this person who is removing my biog that I am the most reliable source there is when it comes to my own life, and can he please stop deleting this. Thank you. Dear Roger, are you reading any of these replies? I am not phased or hazed by this, but it is deeply frustrating. As I said, I have already answered your question at Roger Ellory (talk · contribs). <-- Click on "talk". Or go to the page and click on "View history". All the details are there, and all users have a "talk" link after their name. Click on "talk" and contact them.

Good category, but you should know that unpopulated categories may be deleted. i populated it for you, but next time, remember to do so immediately. (one of mine was depopulated w/o my being aware, then deleted, which i then recreated and repopulated. dont know why it was depopped)Mercurywoodrose (talk) 04:47, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks a lot. It was populated with Rachana Shah, but that article was deleted for lack of notability. Not easy to establish notability for a book designer, as they're rarely publicly credited for their work. Regards, Esowteric+Talk 08:41, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi BlueLupine. I only know what I read at Talk:Tahir Shah. Seems like another, uninvolved editor saw the issue and decided to prune the article. Sorry, that's all I know. I do know what it feels like when this kind of thing happens out of the blue and you wake up to find drastic changes to an article you've been working on.
One thing I did notice was that the way the article links to your books is now messy. I can't see any reason why all the books should not be listed and clearly linked to. Regards, Eric: Esowteric+Talk 11:26, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Eric! That's what it looked like to me. Question...I need to get back to my latest version to create a backup (silly me, I didn't do that). What's the easiest way to do that? All I can think of is rolling back the changes, copying the article into a word doc, and then re-rolling back the changes to leave it as it is...but that sounds a little crazy. Hi again. All you have to do is click on view history, find your latest revision, go to edit that revision and copy and paste the contents, without saving. Eric: Esowteric+Talk 13:36, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Another thing that you can do is create a sandboxed user page like User:BlueLupine/Tahir Shah and paste the contents there. Make sure that you remove the categories, etc from the bottom of the page, though. Also, add {{userpage|logo=yes|noindex=yes}} to the bottom of the page. I agree about the list of works, and have restored it. Otherwise I think the article is much improved. BlueLupine, if you want to do further work on this or other articles, please make sure that any content you add is backed up by reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable, published secondary sources. Material based purely on primary sources should be avoided. Cf. WP:PSTS. Cheers, JN466 22:27, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
I was a little too bold there, as is my habit (sorry about that). I just spotted it on Jayen's Talk page and jumped in without reading all the context. Mostly I deleted stuff that used his personal website or YouTube channel as a source or promotional quotes (I am not a fan of quotes in general). As Jayen mentioned, it was a good cut.
Blue, my advice - just my personal advice as it were - would be to use {{request edit}} in the future to suggest changes from the Talk page. I could imagine this article going into an indefinite ping pong, where you keep adding stuff and it keeps getting deleted in cycles. This happens a lot with COIs and results in edit-wars, contention on both sides and a huge waste of everyone's time.
Using the request system will allow an impartial editor to make sure the edits are neutral, well-sourced and so on, creating a reasonable feedback system. I've been editing a lot of PR agency articles where they put promotional content into the page because nobody responded on Talk. Request edit provides a system for a clear "yes this is good" or "no, let me show you what it needs." Corporate 15:25, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
