I work with the industry trade group that represents manufacturers of electronic cigarettes. Am interested in making sure the e-cig related articles are updated and based on reliable, sourced information.

What can I do now?

Request reason:

I am writing to appeal the block, as it states I was promoting a product or advertising. This was not the case. I am transparent in my bio that I was working on behalf of a trade organization that represented the makers of electronic cigarettes. In the interest of avoiding accusations of conflict of interest, the edits I made were solely based on the market size of the industry and recent acquisitions, all important information previously not included in the article. The numbers and information added is sourced to the Wall Street Journal. Where I believe I made a mistake is in making the edits directly, instead of suggesting the edits on the talk page. If the account is reinstated, I will only propose changes to the article on the talk pages and not directly edit the page.

Decline reason:

In additional to electronic cigarettes, I am also interested in editing pages related to government regulations, health, wellness and technology. If allowed to change username, I will not directly edit any articles where there may be a COI, but will instead only propose new information or changes on the talk page of sites. I recommend you retain a statement of your conflict of interest on your user page (as you have done at the top of your talk page). Also, check out Category:Requested edits.
