I gave you the warning about English variants because "flautist" is predominantly used in the United Kingdom and "flutist" is predominantly used in the United States. I despise unexplained changes of English dialect, in either direction. "Flutist" is the earlier English term - see the flautist page. However the Jean-Pierre Rampal page uses the term "flautist" far more often than "flutist", so I'll change all of the unquoted uses of "flutist" to "flautist" for consistency.
