Happy Independence Day 2007[edit]

Happy Independence Day !!!
Dear Dwaipayanc,
India is celebrating 60 years of Independence, a joyous day for all Indians to celebrate. Lets make a resolution to make India beautiful and fight against terrorism and anti-social corruptions. Follow the steps of Mahatama Gandhi. On wikipedia do the following on this occassion:

Being a proud Indian I take this as an occasion to wish you and your family the best in the days to come on Wikipedia and in real life. Happy Independence Day 2007!!! and Happy Wikipediaing -- Amartyabag TALK2ME 05:28, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tagore Castle[edit]

Tagore Castle is at 26 Prasanna Kumar Tagore Street. Please see Pathuriaghata. The present state of the Castle is disappointing. The Mullick Bari next door still is in fairly good shape. Unfortunately, I could not take pictures of either. Maybe, I will try again later. Regards. - P.K.Niyogi 02:08, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Blnguyen and I were talking about minimum time to making a solid DYK article, and I ventured I could do one in 15 minutes. It took about 40, but we still got a great article. How are you my friend? I started a new job, but I miss all the good things about Canada! Take care -- Samir 23:18, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Benoyendranath Sen[edit]

Boricuaeddie has marked the article on Benoyendranath Sen for NPOV and weasel words. I have revised it but you are better at these things. If you have the time, please have a look. Regards. - P.K.Niyogi 07:36, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the edit. The tags have been removed - P.K.Niyogi 05:48, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Featured topicb[edit]

Hi. Got back last week from India. I like the idea but not sure how to go about it. Does a featured topic feature a series of FA's at the same time? How does it work?Dineshkannambadi 17:38, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Netaji[edit]

I am looking for the date/ year of installation of the statue and also the sculptor. I should have looked around the statue but I missed it. For working on Chittaranjan Avenue and other roads, I need a book by P.Thankapan Nair. He has done a lot of research into this. The book is available and I hope to get it. I am thinking about developing Maidan a little more and then put it up for Peer Review. I will have to get photos and expand on statues and sporting events. I have started working on articles around the Maidan. I have added pix to Chowringhee Road. With regards - P.K.Niyogi 03:42, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

KOLKATA MAIDAN[edit]

Hi Dwaipayan: Would you know where to get comprehensive data on the size, perimeter, co-ordinates etc. related to the Kolkata Maidan?

Wikipedia has extensive information for London's Hyde Park and New York's Central Park. But tried Google for Kolkata Maidan's comparison to the abovementioned park and came up with little.

I believe that the Kolkata Maidan is much larger than New York's Central Park (and also much badly funded and managed too), but could not dig up any conclusive data.

Regards

Hi Dwaipayan. I'm doing fine. I'm now somewhat active. I think, I'll be active sporadically. How do you do? -- Sundar \talk \contribs 06:18, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I noticed you made a very helpful comment in the discussion. I have tried to make it a succing summary that tries to address most views. Would you care to have a look and contibute to the discussion again please, I am getting the feeling there will be objection and it seems to be more of an NPOV issue that is stopping from improving the article. Your views will be aprreciated.Rueben lys 17:45, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article 'Bagha Jatin/Temp3'[edit]

I have moved this article into your user space as User:Dwaipayanc/Bagha Jatin/Temp3. Temporary pages such as this are not proper in the main article space but should be kept as part of your user-space until they are ready for placement in the main article space. If your intention was to release this as an article, the title should not include the '/Temp3'. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:13, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

These current event pages seeem to follow the rule of the jungle. I don't feel that the effort is ultimately satisfying, except that it is on the main page for a very long time. It's a good experience once in a while. Regards - P.K.Niyogi 00:56, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One last section on Hinduism to compress[edit]

Hi Dwaipayan! I must thank you for your efforts so far in shortening the article. When you have the time, could you take a look at Hinduism#Society, which seems to be the only bloated section left. After that, demographics and criticism sections can be added, a few and of the sections will have some more citations added. Then, only a thorough copyedit will be needed to finally WP:FA the page. Thanks GizzaDiscuss © 05:00, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Critical Attention[edit]

Kindly give a quick look at the Kolkata, Kalimpong and West Bengal article, in some places and large sections have gone without citations and references. Kindly help to return both the articles to its former glory. Remember Chennai is in FAR, so these may be someone's target. Amartyabag TALK2ME 12:52, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added some citation needed tags in the Kolkata article and even added some. I will request you to add as many as possible references (if needed per line) in the History section. Though may not be easily challenged, the sub article doesn't have much. In Economy part try to add a ref which connects the fact with look east policy and opening of Nathula. Hey, there, good to hear from you. I didn't even remember it was "your" article ! I just try to run through anything coming up for the main page (hope I didn't mess anything up). I'm fine, and you? I've been busier than usual, trying to rescue Asperger syndrome at FAR; it's been in trouble for years, but rewriting it is daunting because I don't know the territory as well as I do TS and there was accumulated years' worth of inaccurate and biased text in the article, so I basically had to start from scratch. Several others are helping, but it's still rough going. If you have a moment to bring any of the wisdom you brought to TS to the AS talk page, it would be appreciated. Congratulations on the main page! Kind regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 11:42, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is flight BG2007, calling the tower for help[edit]

This is me calling in from the days when you were making wonderful contributions to take the article Bengali Language Movement to FA status, and I was at the sidelines appreciating you. Now the article Biman Bangladesh Airlines is in need for your help. It is almost ready for an FAC, but the current Bangladesh lot still doesn't have a good copyeditor. Preston McConkie is helping out. But, it needs you. Please... pretty please... If you need to ask any question, or want someone to do a bit of research, I promise to help with everything I have. Munnabhai was yours in a large part? Wow! Thanks for all the help. With Ragib busy and Nirav gone, you are probably the only person I can turn to for high-end help with Bangladesh articles. Thanks again. Aditya(talkcontribs) 03:20, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dwaipaya, I noticed you wikilinked the Jugantar plot with relevance to the German assistance to the Indian movement during WWI. If you look at the 1915 Ghadar conspiracy, you will notice that the case led to the opening of the Hindu German Conspiracy Trial in the USA, is this the same conspiracy as the Indo-German conspiracy that the Jugantar plot mentions? In which case, is the Jugantar plot linked to the Ghadar Conspiracy? If you at all know anything, will much appreciate if you let me know. CheersRueben lys 10:41, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:India[edit]

Just dropped by to say that I like the approach you have taken at Talk:India with regards to the Indian Independence Movement prose. Hopefully, concentrating on molding a specific proposal will help bring editors together and prevent the discussion from becoming more adversarial than it has. Also, it would be good if all the recent discussion leads to concrete and consensus-based improvement in article-space!
My wikipedia time may be limited in the next day or two, but I will try to add my two bits as the discussion proceeds. Cheers. Abecedare 22:48, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dwaipayan da, have a look at the Bangali River. Do you think it's good for a DYK. If so, then I need your help in this. All the informations of that is taken from Prothom Alo, should be reliable (that is for others), and the topic is really important. It is necessary for people to know about the disaster that could happen and take steps to stop it. I think we can definately highlight on that conjugation probability with Jamuna. If you are familiar with the english terms about river, help me with that too.

By the way, hope you are alright, you don't need to consider my point if you're busy. Regards --Tarif from Bangladesh 20:09, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know the Geography section is difficult. Do you need a photo of the bengali report, may be you can get help from there. --Tarif from Bangladesh 14:54, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok then, I am going for a launch. The sentence would be something like "... that Bangali River, a main river of the northern part of Bangladesh is threatened to get merged with river Jamuna, which might lead to major changes in the geography of the region?" Good luck to us:) --Tarif from Bangladesh 15:33, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
thank's for copyediting my user page ;) --Tarif from Bangladesh 16:32, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
there's a long story behind it. But anyway, i've added more info on formation of the river from the same source (told you, it's a long story). please use c/e talent to give it a final touch. Who knows, we might still have a chance. --Tarif from Bangladesh 03:11, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Dada, it's nice to get assured from you. Actually I lost my bag with that copy (of Prothom Alo and my computer insurance card as well :(, the day I managed broadband. So I was unable to post those informations. Today morning I got an extra copy from my Hawker and posted them. These days you have to give money to read older versions of Newspapers from the internet. So... Anyway I saw an article being selected which was written on 13 September this evening, but I am more relived to hear from you. Regards --Tarif from Bangladesh 13:52, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

is it clear enough with this It is speculated that the Bangali River formed after 1787 with the Teesta and Jamuna as its major sources, and had a different direction of flow prior to the flood of 1787 sentence that Jamuna and Teesta had different directions, Not Bangali? --Tarif from Bangladesh 11:23, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
it's because of you, I'm very much illeterate about the terms used for rivers (shatrateo janina) and sorry for not detecting that mistake before. Thanks again and keep in touch. --Tarif from Bangladesh 13:45, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bangladesh?[edit]

Nice to hear you. I am planning to go Bangladesh just after Puja. There are lots of hassles and I don't know if plans will mature. I will let you know if things mature. Regards - P.K.Niyogi 14:38, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

West Bengal is having some of the important tourist spots but still lacks an article. If u r interested pls create an article. I was thinking of adding a section on tourism to West Bengal aricle. what do u think about this??? Karnataka article have it. Amartyabag TALK2ME 12:08, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure who to ask, so adding this here. Jatayu's name is spelled as "Lalmohan Ganguli" in the two volume Complete Adventures of Feluda published by Penguin. In several of the Feluda articles here his name appears as Ganguly and Lal Mohan (two words). Is it alright to change everything to the Penguin spelling, or are there other English editions around which use different spellings. Tintin 04:24, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
