The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Dogah~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. In regards to non-English names and their uses in the NHL, please read WP:NCIH and take up your cause at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (ice hockey). In short the NHL uses the English alphabet so on NHL pages so do we. Otherwise there would also be lots of Cyrillic names such as Александр Овечкин. - There is no cause to be taken up, because 1) Wikipedia:NCIH talks about diacritics, but the name Kekäläinen does not have any, since Finnish ä is an independent letter and not the letter a with diacritics, 2) Wikipedia:NCIH talks about player names, but Kekäläinen is not a player but a general manager. "Otherwise there would also be lots of Cyrillic names such as Александр Овечкин." No, there would not be. Cyrillic script is a totally different writing system, and that is why Ovechkin's name is transliterated. Both English and Finnish use the Latin script. --Dogah (talk) 16:05, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
- NCIH implies personnel involved with the league as well, but you are correct that it does explicitly only mention players. Possibly another good reason to bring it up at the talk page there. And by Cyrillic, I was merely pointing out that by using a different alphabet for one person, it sets a precedent to use it everywhere (since Cyrillic is both a different script and a different alphabet). But if you want a hard reason why, here is his bio page on the NHL site, note the use of a instead of ä. Since this is universal throughout the NHL, the NHL pages use only the English alphabet.
