May 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Genetic genealogy has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4wSSXML2bg. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 22:06, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Another welcome[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, and sorry your introduction has been a little rough. I'm afraid it takes quite a while to get used to the procedures used here. As you can imagine, there are many attempts to add links to articles and it is very hard for other editors to work out which links are warranted (the guideline is WP:EL with more egregious cases being covered at WP:SPAM). Also, it is standard for edits to be drastically changed or reverted, so please do not feel that anything unusual has occured at Genetic genealogy. Please also bear in mind that we try to discuss only the merits of a particular case, and avoid commentary on what might be motivating other users. You may like to add a comment at Talk:Genetic genealogy#TED video of Dirk Schweitzer (click "edit" at the right margin). Johnuniq (talk) 04:18, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 04:10, 26 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
