I've given you rollback and reviewer rights. Seems like you could use them, although please read Wikipedia:Reviewing#Reviewing_process and WP:Rollback. All the best, Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 17:42, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks - these look useful. I've read the documentation and will use these facilities with care! --Deskford (talk) 23:21, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

permissions re NMC copyright

Dear Deskford,

I've had some information removed from the Wikipedia page re Simon Holt which I put on last night. I am monoliths21 and also Simon Holt. I was wondering which bits were under copyright and so could remove those and put the rest back. I actually wrote the biography myself and sent it to NMC for their site.

best wishes, Monoliths21 (talk) 19:03, 10 May 2011 (UTC) Simon Holt

Many apologies for the delay in replying. I've been away from Wikipedia for a while. The copyright issue is often a tricky one, and I'm no expert, but the fact that the NMC website asserts copyright over the text in question generally means that it cannot be used on Wikipedia. There are ways of donating text text to Wikipedia - see WP:DCP - but it's usually safer to write from new. This also makes it easier to ensure encyclopedic neutral tone, rather than the promotional tone that might be used elsewhere. Another point I should make is that Wikipedia generally discourages people from editing articles about themselves - see WP:AUTO - and doing so runs the risk of another editor slapping a "conflict of interest" notice on the article. If there are changes that you think need to be made, corrections, removal of out-of-date information, addition of new information and so on, your best option would be to request the changes on the article talk page Talk:Simon Holt and leave another editor to make the changes. You could also drop a note on the Classical Music Project discussion page Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Classical music or the Composers Project discussion page Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Composers to make sure someone notices that the change needs doing. Hope this helps, and sorry again that I took so long to get back. Best wishes! --Deskford (talk) 17:00, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
