Nomination of Green Oasis for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Green Oasis is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Green Oasis until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Green Oasis[edit]

Hello, David! I got your email; I hope you don't mind if I prefer to reply on your talk page. You were asking for restoration of the page Green Oasis, which I deleted in January as per the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Green Oasis. I also saw your recent comment at the deletion discussion, but I then removed it, because we aren't supposed to comment on a discussion once it has closed. (Of course it is still visible in the page history.)

I re-read the discussion and did some research myself. I very much doubt that the article can be made to meet Wikipedia's requirements at WP:GNG and WP:ORG. It looks as if that one court decision had only a temporary effect on regulation in Los Angeles [1] and no effect statewide. I also gather that the place (also called Westside Green Oasis) is now out of business.[2][3]

The only way this article could be restored is if there are now additional references sufficient to meet the requirement of significant coverage from independent reliable sources. Your original references were from independent reliable sources, yes, but they were all about that one court case, not about the clinic itself. And the court case does not appear to have had a lasting or significant impact on medical marijuana law or implementation. It probably looked more significant in 2011, when you wrote the article, than it actually turned out to be.

Please take a look at the Wikipedia requirements for an article that I linked above. I know you think this clinic was important. But Wikipedia is an international encyclopedia, and so it has to have fairly high standards for what kinds of subjects have articles here. Ask yourself: would Green Oasis qualify for an article in the Encyclopaedia Brittanica? I appreciate your interest in contributing to Wikipedia, and I'd be glad to hear your thoughts here.
