Trouble Brewing[edit]

Crboyer, there's trouble brewing. Those vandal users are vandalizing Wikipedia. Did you leave all those messages on their talk pages? Bobbyjennings (talk) 05:16, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Which vandals to be specific? Crboyer (talk) 05:22, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's User:2601:2C0:8600:49C0:882A:8C92:86A5:FB3A. He's been vandalizing Spider-Man 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012 film). Please block this user permanently. Bobbyjennings (talk) 05:26, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As I am not an administrator, I am unable to block others, only warn and report. If I was an administrator, I can't block IP addresses like this one permanently. User's last edit was a few hours ago. If they resume, I will start the warn cycle. Crboyer (talk) 05:29, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, you can only warn and report all the users, and not block IP addresses. That is going to be the start of the warn cycle. Bobbyjennings (talk) 05:35, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

138.204.25.183 ‎[edit]

Hi just to let you know the person you warned is a serial block evader so no warnings are really needed, just report them to AIV. See this page for more information. Sakura CarteletTalk 03:19, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm aware of who I'm dealing with. Crboyer (talk) 03:21, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh? I thought you might've not have known so I told you about him. Well as long as everyone's on the same page, I guess it's okay then. Sakura CarteletTalk 03:24, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And Crboyer, you might could assume that I didn't mean to revert just the block notice. Drmies (talk) 00:39, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Deleting the block notice, but leaving Speed's latest tirade seemed odd. Thanks for clarifying. In any event, I've also reverted Speed's one-millionth threat. And I'm working on tagging their latest IPs as socks. I hope I'm doing something right. Crboyer (talk) 00:42, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:05, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year Crboyer![edit]

Happy New Year!
Hello Crboyer:
Thanks for all of your contributions to improve the encyclopedia for Wikipedia's readers, and have a happy and enjoyable New Year! Cheers, Donner60 (talk) 00:03, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Send New Year cheer by adding {{subst:Happy New Year fireworks (static)}} to user talk pages with a friendly message.

Thank you for reverting that edit on Brandon Lee's page.[edit]

Thank you for reverting that edit on Brandon Lee's page. I am simply appalled that someone on New Year's would do such a mean spirited edit. Filmman3000 (talk) 23:38, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Wizard of Oz[edit]

You've just reverted an edit of mine on the film of the WIzard of Oz. Given that Arlen wrote all the musc for the songs, providing the material that Stothart used for his underscore, I'd be grateful if you could explain why you believe Harold Arlen should not be credited, at least in part, for writing the music for the Film. Thanks.David T Tokyo (talk) 20:11, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please read Template:infobox film. Under music, is this: "Insert the name(s) of the composer(s) of the original music score. They are usually credited with "Music by". Composers credited for "additional music" and songwriters should not be included. […]." Arlen counts as a songwriter.Crboyer (talk) 20:43, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks - appreciated. I struggled to understand why songwriters should not be included but recognising that many modern films have huge numbers of songs, the vast majority of which were never written for the film, I can see an opportunity for complete chaos in the Infobox and I wouldn't mind betting that's what ultimately led to the current definition. However, this is clearly an occasion where Wiki's definition results in a wrong answer. Stothart was not the sole author of the music for the WIzard of Oz - Arlens' name is listed as a co-author on all Stotharts' scores for the piece. Obviously so, given that so much of the source material was Arlen's.
I've checked a few other examples within Wiki. Richard Rodgers is correctly credited as the composer for the Rodgers / Hammerstein musicals - despite the fact that the underscores were all written by Bennett, Rittman etc. The same can be said for many other composers from that period. Under this definition some of the most famous songwriters Broadway has ever seen would simply not be credited for having written the music - a ridiculous state of affairs. Wiki's entry for A Hard Days Night is interesting - The Beatles are given an entry there, alongside George Martin.
I don't know the best way forward with this. The issue really lies with Wiki's definition. I'd be grateful if you could point me to the best way as to how to deal with that, although I'm not sure I've got the stomach for a long protracted discussion. Let's see. Thanks again. David T Tokyo (talk) 04:57, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This is to let you know that I am adding Arlen's Name to the Music section in the Info Tab. I've read through the discussion on the Template: Info Box Film Talk Page it's clear to me that his name is warranted. The key comments are are 1) "The consistent theme of comments, both pro and against, is that credit should be provided where practical without overwhelming the infobox template", 2) " there is a rough consensus to judiciously credit additional composers" and 3) "For musical films, however, the songwriter is the predominant composer of music with the score composer, when there is one, somewhat secondary and supporting to that. Both should be listed." Arlen is, without question, the predominant composer of music for the Wizard of Oz. If you have a problem with any of this, please let me know, if not, I'll make the change tomorrow. Regards. David T Tokyo (talk) 10:40, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Warner Bros., HBO Max, & Zack Snyder’s Justice League[edit]

Look, I understand where you’re coming from about this being solely theatrical films. but if you look on the page there are two movies clearly listed on there that are going to be on HBO max. Those two films being ‘An American Pickle’ and ‘Charm City Kings’. So I don’t understand why you removed my section for the Snyder cut of Justice league, which also has factual sources behind it, while others are doing doing the exact same thing and you don’t take those films. July 2020[edit]

Thank you for your work in protecting Wikipedia against vandalism. I can see that you are an experienced editor and that you think your actions were justified, but you are going about things in the wrong way. Your actions came to my attention at WP:RFPP where you were asking for protection for Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2. A single IP editor was involved and was expanding the plot section. You reverted his edits 21 times over a period of two days. Your edits were not covered by any of the exemptions mentioned here and you could be blocked for breaking the three revert rule. You should have interacted with him on his talk page and reported him to the appropriate noticeboard if necessary. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:31, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The user did more than expand the plot section: [They also removed the Reception section. Compare this difference between their edits and a reversion]. And I'm pretty sure this is not the last IP they edited this page under. See [this one from 2012] and [this one from 2017]. You'll find some similarities between this new IP's edits and the old ones. Crboyer (talk) 15:31, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And on the plot, their edits sound more like someone piling on the adjectives than expanding it with useful info. Compare the original "After the Kingdom of Zephyrus was rescued by Sparkster from the Devotindos Empire..." to their "After the old legendary Zephyrus Kingdom was once previously saved and eventually restored to everlasting peace by the ever fearless, valiant and heroic Rocket Knight Sparkster from the formerly terrible Devotindos Empire..." Crboyer (talk) 15:35, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that IP is a real pain! He might be the same as the 2017 one I suppose. I see that you did indeed post several warnings to his talk page, and reported him to WP:AIV, but not until you had reverted his edits an excessive number of times. If you come across a similar situation in the future, please warn and report. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:34, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My bad[edit]

Sorry a website I regularly check for celebrity deaths called Who's Alive and Who's Dead, mentioned that Regis Philbin passed away today, July 25. Thank you for pointing out he actually died yesterday. I didn't read the source for his death close enough and added him to the wrong list, July 25. My apologies. Sorry[edit]

Crboyer, sorry about edit of AD to BC. I did not read the section closely enough. Rob. PS A good summary of this interesting Movie — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.69.41.22 (talk) 06:15, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback on RPP[edit]

Did you mean to do this? Jackmcbarn (talk) 21:46, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No. No! A thousand times no! My finger slipped again. How can I avoid this problem?!

"bloody morons"[edit]

I blocked them--but I think many of their edits are actually improvements. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 16:10, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
