Thanks for taking the time to talk to me, and a second thanks for (mostly) ensuring correct grammar in your post. To answer your question, I noticed that the second part of Beagle Internet used possessive "we" instead of the more neutral "they" or "Beagle Internet" which led me to believe it was posted by an advertiser. However, it appears that I was wrong. The "we" was in there because at least a section of that article was copied in violation of copyright, and the decision to delete it was Speedied, as Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Beagle_Internet will show. Also, please take the time to sign your comments by typing four tildes (~) after your post, as that will allow me to identify you and respond on your talk page, instead of my own. What's wonderful about this is the blatant use of bad grammar in (is it 'in' or 'on'?) your own page! "and a second thanks for (mostly) ensuring correct grammar in your post."In the context you have used 'ensuring', it makes no sense, as the defition is: 'to make sure that something will happen', which of course refers to an event or action. therefore, you can not ensure correct grammar, however you can ensure that correct grammer is used. --Alex 02:25, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yo. Regarding Tuff boxx, I just thought it might be helpful to you to know that as of a few days ago, the template {{db-band}} can be used to speedy delete non-notable bands, under CSD A7. Hi. Wow, it looks a lot nicer now, nice job cleaning it up. I originally requested deletion because of "fancruft" - that is, the page looked like it was made by a serious fan of Lost as a fan page, not an encyclopaedic entry. However, looking at it now, I think that I will change my vote. My suggestion to you is to take the source of your article and save it somewhere in case the vote goes to delete. Traditionally, when an article is put up for deletion discussion, the article will be subject to debate and discussion, and should not be moved or deleted while the discussion takes place. I probably would be allowed to move it, and if the discussion does not end in delete, I will move it as soon as the page is closed. Another user, I think Blu Aardvark, moved it to Oceanic Flight 815. Keep working on it and improving it - it's starting to look as if it won't be deleted. This may be an advertisement and inappropriate on Wikipedia. Nonetheless, that is not a criteria for speedy deletion. If you want to somehow devise a policy of speedy deletion of advertisements, I challenge you to write one and get it approved. But I think you'll find that things can be put up that look like advertisements that are rather the basis of articles that Wikipedia should have but doesn't yet. YTMND Hacks ebaums forum, redirects to ytmnd.com (for a short time)[edit]

It happened, forum.ebaumsworld.com/ was hacked, and after the hack, the page was redirected to ytmnd.com/users/profile/24045 then a few minutes later redirected to the newest ytmnd entries, then it just pointed to ytmnd.com, then it Bauman intervened and changed the permissions on forum.ebaumsworld.com... shortly afterwards ytmnd.com was attacked with a dos attack and most clients connected to ytmnd's irc server (irc.ytmnd.com) pinged out. The attack was shortlived (about 10 minutes) Now, ebaums forum is backup... all seems calm... but this is the calm before the real storm

As stated in the discussion page, this hack did happen, look at the "Completion" comment. As someone who was there in the channel, I can confirm that was how it happened. Their forums were hacked and then brought down for about an hour and a half.

Drum machine[edit]

Moving electronic drumming to electronic drum was an excellent idea. In the drum machine article, however, I kind of liked how "trigger pads" was linked to electronic drumming and think it should now link to electronic drum. I think electronic drum is currently the best destination for a "trigger pad" link. Granted, it is not ideal, but the trigger article is just a disambiguation page masquerading as an article. If someone wrote a trigger pad article, that would, of course, be ideal. What do you think? --Trweiss 04:40, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, sounds like a good plan. Indeed, it would be nice if there were a more technical page for drum triggers and triggers in general. It would also be nice if trigger and the disambiguation connnected to it were merged, but that's a topic for another day. Anyways, feel free to change that link. Planet Math project[edit]

Thank you for help with Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics/PlanetMath Exchange. And one small request. It is good if you follow existing guidelines for reporting the status of an article, and sign under it. In that way we know how many articles got reviewed, and that data will appear in the tables you see at Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics/PlanetMath Exchange. So I would like to ask you to go back to Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics/PlanetMath Exchange/94-XX Information and communication, circuits and modify the status line at Hartley function and its derivation. Just to let you know, don't add the list back to the Rolling Stones article. I'm the original creator of the article, and had added the list. But with ample precedent, Wikipedia strictly forbids lists from other sources to be listed on Wikipedia. If you add the list, it will be deleted. Thank you for attempting to fix the line in the Torchic intro (god knows how it wasn't fixed, I've had about three fact checks!) It generally means that the 3rd generation (including Torchic) has a more animal-type appearance than anthropormostic (like humans). Question about failure of Queen article[edit]

You criticized it for being "nowhere near the level expected of a featured article." But isn't that missing the point? A good article isn't the same as a featured article. I think your standards are too rigorous. And concerning the language of the article, I would argue that contractions and parenthesis help readability, as, even though articles are suppossed to written as encyclopedic as possible, making an article (especially one as large as Queen's) filled with dense, turgid, boring prose seems like a bad idea to me. - Articles in the Main namespace are expected to be "brilliant prose," not simply boring words on the page. I would say that as an encyclopedia, the most important aspect of any article is the arrangement and selection of the words with which we express information. If we write informally, we become an informal source of information. If we elevate our diction, we become an exemplary source, a shining beacon of information and authority through which we share our knowledge. However, the elements of style which we have in our hands, namely voice, word choice, phrasing, and presentation, do not have to present a boring article. Indeed, we want to present an amazingly well-written article that is easy and pleasurable to read, as well as unambiguous identifying the information which it presents.
- Secondly, the Good Article and Featured Article processes are two very different systems meant for two different purposes. Good Article Evaluation and Status is meant to be an extreme form of peer review: One Wikipedian, who is not at all connected with the article, evaluates it on an impartial scale, seeing if it meets his personal expectations for what an article should look like. The result is an in-depth look at what one Wikipedian thinks of the article.
- However, Featured Article Status denotes a community who, having examined the article, consider it a good example of both their own handiwork and also the expectation that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Since it is a communal process, it is not graded or scored on a rubric, but instead is discussed and analyzed via discussion. The resulting article, once qualified, is fit to be put on the Main Page.
- It is sad indeed that the two processes are often linked. They are meant to be different simply by their nature. Nonetheless, I do not feel as if I should have to retract or discuss my grading: I carefully weighed my words, and meant every single one of them. I would, however, like to remind you that I am a Grammar Nazi, and as such have a history of pedantically singling out large numbers of small problems in order to justify a complaint. I have a feeling that with a bit of work, Queen (band) will quite easily make Featured Article Status. Please don't take my words as a personal insult — you have done quite well with the article. It is one of the better articles in the encyclopedia. Never have I nominated any page authored by myself for Good Article or Featured Article Status — I am not foolish enough to hope that any of them will qualify. If you would like, I can examine and attempt to correct grammatical and Manual of Style-related problems with Queen (band). I bear you no ill will, but I do not slant towards you either. It is necessary, if we are to produce neutrally honest prose, that we be as impartial as possible.

I would very much like it if you would go over and fix any grammar and MoS problems. And no need to throw in those "bear you no ill will comment"; you haven't said anything rude, provocative, or ignorant, I can't imagine a reason to begrudge you.

One other thing, though; the Beatles main article is featured, and has been for several years. It uses several pictures that are all claimed under "fair use", including the cover of Abbey Road. Yeah, don't worry about it. Edit wars happen everywhere on Wikipedia. The thing to remember is that there's always some sort of middle ground. Leyasu is, from experience, very knowledgeable about metal music and the modern metal scene, and she tends to have very predetermined desires for development of articles. Okay, in Preferences, in the first tab, there's a field called Nickname, and below that, a checkbox marked Raw Signature. Check the checkbox, and then C'n'P this into the Nickname box:

Could you head to the Something discussion page; currently, it's nominated to have it's Featured article status removed. Right now, the voting is deadlocked at 6-6 (or was it 7-7?) and there hasn't been a new statement made on the page in days. Could you go there and vote? In the Queen article, there is this: "In England, they were named the second most popular band of all-time in a Channel 4 poll.[1]. On separate occasions, the songs "Bohemian Rhapsody"[2] and "We Are the Champions"[3] have each been voted as the world's favorite song." I think the article might be improved if we simply cut those sentences out. Who gives a damn about polls? I say we cut it, which will make the article more concise. Your opinion?
