Opinion request
When I first wrote the Flag of Puerto Rico article years ago, it was titled "The flags of Puerto Rico" and was intended to be just that, an article about the flags of Puerto Rico. However, with time someone (who made a mess with the edit history) came along and changed the title to the current one.
I am thinking of two options per consensus.
1. Leaving the current title, "spliting" the article, keeping only the story of the "Flag" and it's evolution and creating separate articles about the "municipal" and "political" flags and have them interwiklinked in the "See also" sections.
or ....
2. Changing the title back to "Flags of Puerto Rico", its original title and keeping the article as it is, which would be less troublesome.
or ....
3. Just leave it as it is.

- Mi hermano, I'm not going to deal with the shades of blue issue as Rob wants, that has already been settled per consensus as far as I'm concerned. It's the title. If we leave the title as it is, it seems as if we are only referring to "the flag" and not the municipal, political and sports flag. Chatter
Estoy de acuerdo contigo. I don't know what he is up too, but I'm not going to let him drag us into another controversy about the colors. What we did was keep the article complete as it is, rename the article and rephrase the introduction, which is the right thing. This is an article we all have made into one of the best articles ever about our flag, which has been read by thousands of readers without any compliants. Regarding flags inside infoboxes
Hi there, it came to my attention that a lot of the boxing articles have flags inside the infobox. Per MOS:FLAG flags should not be in the infobox of an individual. I would like to get your input on this since your an active member of the boxing project. Richard (talk) 05:08, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Fantastic pictures

List of boxing triple champions
I took a look at the List of boxing triple champions article and saw that Monkey, cluttered the article with images with the hidden goal of accomplishing the mission which he set out to do in the first place. The thing is, that in my opinion, that the article, with the clutter of images doesn't look good may distract the reader from the content of the article itself. I have a suggestion, if you like I can create a "Gallery" of these images, similar to this one: Gallery and post it at the end like in the case of El Grito de Lares. What do you think? Deletion of the gallery or any changes made to it, other then adding more images, will have to be discussed in the article's "talk Page" first and the person including El Mono, will have to provide a good rationale otherwise it may be considered vandalism since Wikipedia is not about what we like or do not like nor is it about what we want or do not want. - Caribbean, we need to forget about the 2004 USGS report, as the SDR report is more recent. Also, the statement you changed is an actual quote from the SDR; my fault for having overlooked placing the "s, but I've fixed that now. Also, we really can't say 'since the establishement of USGS', as we don't know that, right? (Do we know the USGS was in fact doing mudslide studies back in 1879?, we don't know.), and the President's report does in fact say "in US history", so why change what it is anyway. Check it out. - I think we are both fundamentally in agreement that there seems to be no infallible way of expressing this fact w/o giving the impression that it is still, up and until TODAY, 'The worst in US history.'
- One reason I have stayed away from supporting the "up to that year" approach is that it seems to be saying that it was -only- up until to 2005, but it ended in 2005, and it is not so any longer since then; that is, that *we know* there was one worse yet since 2005. (For example, we say 'Up until 9/11 you didn't have to take off your shoes at the airport' because we know FOR A FACT that SINCE then we must take them off. But we don't know for a fact that since 2005 there has been a worst one than Mameyes'). I am not supporting anything different than you are. I am saying that what I just described is the flip side of this coin. I am afraid there is no perfect solution to this.
- Your most recent edit could be read as such. That is, the "up to that year" could be read to mean that Mameyes "lost" (ufffff) the No. 1 spot in 2005. BTW, pretentiousness, I don't think can ever be an issue here, as we are reporting what it is, and by clearly providing the year up-front ("In 2005...") we are (seems to me) already saying, "reader beware." What purpose would that serve? Unlike NYC (haha), it is not a distinguishing characteristic of the city. I mean is the National Guard still in Ponce's caserios, but not in other towns' caserios? And, do users wanting to read an article about a town look for crime stats? I'd rather look for police protection, wouldn't you? - No, that primera hora article doesn't add any more value to the Ponce article. There is already a crime section in the Ponce article that San Juan doesn't have (and by my poking around, many other cities as well, in&out of PR). The Ponce already states the city has a high murder rate, there's no need to beat on it anymore. The Ponce article crime section is well-drafted, unbiased/npov, with verifiable citations, and long enough already. I wouldn't add anymore to it, though there may be some typos that still need correcting. Missing are also Ponce-specific crime stats - the closest I got was Ponce MSA. Regards, Mercy11 (talk)

You asked my opinion and I agree. This my statement:
"You know the sad thing is that I like both of you and that this couldn't have worked out in a civil manner without the name calling. Mercy, you must understand that Caribbean is being fair with you with his comment on your talk page. On one hand he has gotten along well with "Mercy", on the other he was attacked and responded to your other accounts without realizing that you and they were one and the same person. You should stick to one account and get rid of the other accounts since it is against policy. Caribbean is a respected administrator and a great guy to work with, he also offered to bury the hachet and not block you. From what I saw in the interaction between you and him, you both seemed to get along well in the beginning. Why not call it a truce, since you have so much to offer, and work out the differences as to the articles in the talk pages, without jumping at each others throats? At times I have been wrong in my assumptions and have been corrected by others and at other times I have corrected the assumptions of others. Yet, we have all remained friends because we communicated before making any changes in a respectful way. I hope that things can be worked out and that you Mercy, will continue to contribute to the Puerto Rican related issues of the project, but only with one account.' SubPage you created
Caribbean, how do other editors become aware of the subpage? How do they get to read and interact with it and become aware of the details of issues being discussed so they too can contribute if they wanted? I looked at the regular article's Discussion page, and saw no link to the subpage. As of yet I do not see any other way to get to the new subpage except through the link you put in my personal user talk page.
Please don't take this personal, but I have found some *minor* problems (broken links, not in citation given, etc) with BPA article which I have tagged as such. There are also what some might consider as *major* problems. I know you have an interest in this article, so I will enter the latter for discussion in the discussion page, which I trust you are watching. - Hummm, I think I see what you are trying to do, but I don't think my brain can work that way,,, but I'll try and see if I can. (I am not one for laying everything up-front in one shot.) Still I see no advantage to using this new subpage over the regular discussion page. Do I sense that errors (dead links, newer info making info in article obsolete, etc) could make this article vulnerable to being demoted from its current GA status??? This article is being changed considerably by an anonomous IP 74 user and a Seablade who are not leaving comments at all. I think it should be changed to the version by Pr4ever, at least until the anonymous user can start entering into the little comment line. But I don't know who to do that. Good idea, I'll do the ICP thing this coming week. Did you know that the PR Government years ago approved that the ICP transfer the remains of Manuel Rojas from Venezuela to Puerto Rico with the intention of buring them in Lares and that nothing became of it? Right now, remove all unsourced additions, I guess that would include the VP candidate mention since the only source is a "blog" and as such is unreliable, revert the "statehood" to " annexation" (NPOV) and warn him. If you go to the wikipedia definition of annexation you should notice that Puerto Rico was annexed to the U.S. on 1898 during the Hispanic American war.
Puerto Rico was annexed to the U.S. in 1898 on the Hispanic American War. Becuase Annexation implies an uniteral act that is recognized by the international connunity.
Kuwait was annexed to Irak in 1990. Refer to Annexation on the Wikipedia definition!
Golan was annexed to Israel in 1981. Jerusalem was annexed to Israel in 1980.
For more example just go to Annexation on this Encyclopedia, there are very clear of what Annexation means in the correct term in world-wide English at least to Wikipedia!

As a mid-step between the two extremes (wiki auto and wanted-version manual), (I discovered that), if the multiple changes are all consecutive, they can be undone if the undoing is done one at a time starting in order undoing the last one first I am sure you know the tricks, I just wanted to say I experimented a bit. For decades, the U.S. Navy conducted ship-to-shore bombing exercises and other live-fire training activities on Vieques Island and Culebra Island, located off the coast of Puerto Rico. In response to concerns about risks to public safety, human health, and the environment, Congress directed the Navy to close its training facilities on Vieques Island in 2003 and to relocate them elsewhere. The Navy has begun to investigate the presence of munitions and related contamination on Vieques to determine the cleanup actions that will be necessary to protect human health and the environment, and has begun the surface removal of munitions in some areas. In 1974, Congress had enacted legislation that required the Navy to cease its training operations on Culebra Island, in response to similar public concerns. The Army Corps of Engineers has removed some munitions on Culebra to address safety hazards in publicly accessible areas, but has not begun a comprehensive cleanup of the island. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board are responsible for overseeing these actions. There has been rising public interest in the degree to which the Department of Defense (DOD) will be required to clean up both islands. The scope of the cleanup will depend on the type and extent of contamination found, and whether a pathway of human exposure exists. The National Defense Authorization Act for FY2002 (P.L. 107-107) prohibits public access within the Live Impact Area of the former bombing range on Vieques. Public access also may be limited in other areas due to the presence of munitions hazards. Since denying public access is intended to reduce safety threats, DOD may be allowed to remove fewer munitions than would be required otherwise. However, if contamination has leached from munitions and migrated to present a pathway of exposure, removal of more munitions may be required to protect human health. Possible pathways include the consumption of contaminated groundwater and contaminated fish or shellfish. At the request of the Governor of Puerto Rico, Sila M. Calderon, EPA listed Vieques on the National Priorities List (NPL) of the nation’s most hazardous waste sites on February 11, 2005. Listing a site on the NPL does not affect the stringency of the cleanup that is required or increase the availability of funding for the Navy to perform the cleanup. Rather, it identifies Vieques as a site that warrants further investigation to determine actions that are necessary to protect human health and the environment. The Governor also requested that EPA list Culebra on the NPL along with Vieques. However, EPA “elected to take no action” on its final listing decision for Culebra at that time, and reports that the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Army are negotiating a Memorandum of Agreement to govern the cleanup. Regardless of the site listing decision, the degree of cleanup on either island will depend on threats to human health and the environment and the types of remediation that will be deemed necessary to address these threats. Whatever actions are required, the progress of cleanup will depend on the availability of federal funding to pay for the remediation. This report will be updated annually to track the status of cleanup on both islands.

Deletion of Puerto Rican images
As you all know, certain situations among which are included my personal health, have led me take a leave of absence from Wikipedia, however I believe that the idea proposed by Angusmclellan is an excellent one. Instead of nominating Puerto Rican related images by the masses, the images which have problems will first be listed in the page which I just created: Wikipedia:WikiProject Puerto Rico/Images with problems. We will be given more then sufficient time as a "team" to find sources and make what ever fixes need be in order to keep them from being deleted. This is a Wiki-community team effort regardless of who uploaded the image. I ask all those who really care about the images related to Puerto Rico to post the link "Wikipedia:WikiProject Puerto Rico/Images with problems" in your "watchlists". - I know, it is an interesting twist. It came about as a result of the protests against of the mass deletion of images. I'm still firm about not making any more contributions, but with the burden and stress off my shoulders, I will be able to take my time and try to fix some of the images. I sent the message to the other "Boricuas", hoping that as a "team" we can work together to save or find substitute images, now that we have over three months before they are deleted. If you check the articles on Pacquiao, Mayweather, and Mosley, for example, you will notice that they all have more headings than just "Welterweight". It is useful to have headings to help break up the text and for when there is a main article for a certain fight, such as Pacquiao vs. Cotto.

PR Images
Hey my brother, how's it going? Even though I decided to not make any more contributions tto the project< I am still checking to see if I can fix most of the images which I uploaded anyway. The system is fine since we have more time, but I expected a little more team work from the others (I know that you were busy with your exams). I have solved some, but we need sources for some others. There are some cases where the nominator in my opinion is downright wrong. For example, there is no reason for the Esteves image to be there since it is PD, punto y se acabo, and the one of Jesus Colon shouldn't be there at all, but he wants it to be eliminated from to articles using the same ridculus arguement, to no avail, that he used in the Ponce Masscre Image. Reversal
Let me start by saying that there should be more communitacion between administrators. I know there is no bad intended, but the extra work is really annoying me, although not with you or anyone in particular. Let me try to explain for the third time.
1. Since there are possibilities for an integrated men´s, women´s and junior´s national basketball team page, I thought a move was not the best idea. That is why I created the "Puerto Rico men's national basketball team" article and made a redirect with possibilities in the original "Puerto Rico national basketball team" article. I was planning to work on that when I finished updating the men´s and find more time.
2. Two reversals to my changes were made and unmade by admins, both of them finally approving the changes. I include here links to their talk page for my conversation with them.
3. If you decide to finally leave only the "men's" page without the redirect on the original article, please revert it at least to the latest. The current one is an old version, after which I did many changes. Looking at the page history, I see that the many hours I spent this weekend are lost since you reverted to a previous version and my updates don´t appear any more in the history. If you can, at least, revert it back to my update from "21:33, 29 January 2010" which, although not the lastest version, is at least not as old as the one you reverted to.
I know it is not your fault. I do see you that didn´t read the discussion page of the new article, where I had copied the discussions from the original article so they wouldn´t be lost and has started a new section explaining the problems I had. --Coquidragon (talk) 23:41, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

I know what you mean. The good thing about the concept is that we are allowed 100 days to work on the images. The only thing is that the at times the situation gets a little ridiculous.
I noticed that Damiens is not targeting Puerto Ricans after checking his current nominations and that it is his/her way of doing things. But, it seems as if there is always something that he/her finds wrong. First it may be the source. If you provide a source, then it maybe who is the creator of the image, if you provide the creator, then it is the rationale. It seems to never end. Wikipedia will never be nor will it ever be considered a reliable encyclopedia as long as anyone can edit it. I mean for example, there are a lot of serious people among us who have put in a lot of time and effort in making this an educational project to educate others about the true history and contributions of our Puerto Rico and then we have to put up with all the vandals who mess up our work. Policy is lenient on them because everyone can edit, but on the other hand we also have to put up with those people who are inventing exaggerating rules and conditions (such as in the images), targeting us (by "us" I mean every good-faithed editor), the people who have made this project what it is. I have a question. I have updated all the tables in the article with data directly from the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) page. [3][4] Yesterday, someone modified the wiki article citing a newspaper without internet link. I don´t doubt the correction might be correct, but I have no way to double check the information. The author of the change states that the Official FIBA page has an error. I am talking about the 1988 FIBA Americas tournament. I really don´t know who won. Only the written work of the ICP is copyrighted since it is an original, but not the images. Some of these people here think that I am a stupid clown (you know who I mean) and do not realize that I am appreciated by the people of Puerto Rico for my work. I also recieved this mesage with goes in tone with the question in regard to the pictures of the former Secretary of the Puerto Rico Senate:

Something is wrong
Caribbean, in the List of Governors of Puerto Rico article, something seems to be wrong. There was a governor around 1898 called General Ricardo de Ortega y Diez. When I look at the article, for the photo of General Ricardo de Ortega y Diez, it is showing what seems to be a young track and field athlete in full color, but when I click on that photo, it shows this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ortega.jpg, which is the picture of an older man with a mustache and dressed in a military outfit. I'm just keeping an eye on things, but so far it seems as if the devils have backed down some. My featured article, Puerto Ricans in World War II is up for review and I'm not going to do anything about it. I mean here is an article that went from GA to FA to the Main Page and has been reviewed before. An article that in the past passed all reviews and has been read by thousands. I couldn't care less if it were demoted, no more headaches. The same thing is happening with the Sylvia Mendez article which may be demoted from GA. I often respect your way of handling conflicts, and wonder if you'd provide an independent view here but also go to talk: Christ myth theory and just use your "find" function for "holocaust" and see how often it comes up, and how. Are we doing anything with the Salsa article? How come the majority of the founding Salsa interpreters were Puerto Rican but they are being excluded from the article as founders?
I always thought Salsa was a genre that came to life in New York with multicultural influence from the Caribbean including Puerto Rico. Saying it is merely Cuban would be like saying "Reggaeton is from Jamaica because it has influence from Jamaican music".

I noticed that the new Wiki format began yesterday, May 13th. I don't like it too much. I don't know if it is just me, but in my computor it is much slower then the "old" format. I didn't know about Javier Culson. Just goes to show you, our nation, Puerto Rico is "la cuna" of a great people. Memorial Day
Thank you for your message. You know, Memorial Day was created so that the American people will honor and remember their fallen soldiers. However, with the exception of those who have a family member killed in action, that is the least that they do. Memorial Day, instead has become another insignificant day of celebration for those who are greedy. For most Americans, it has become one less day of work, a day to have a party and to get drunk, a day for business owners to put on sale whatever it is that they can't normally sell.I heard a DJ in the radio say "Happy Memorial Day." Iask myself, what is so happy about remembering a lost loved one?
I feel sad not only for the hundreds of Puerto Ricans who have died in combat and their families, but also for all those who have died in senseless wars which are a result of greedy people and/or nations who want to expand and impose their influence upon others regardless of the cost of lives.
When I was to leave for Vietnam, I was very gung-ho and naive. I remember meeting some of the Marines who had finished their tour, who were returning home. One of them was a Puerto Rican whose name I can't recall. His face was disfigured from a grenade and he had a bullet in his chest that the doctors could not remove it was too close to his heart. WP:PUR revamp
Hey, I don't know if you'd recall me, but I've gone by the names "Lex94" and "Raaggio" on Wikipedia. I've had very small conversations with you in the past, and some on WT:PUR and WT:PW. The recent I'm posting is because I'd like you to take a look at the design changes I did for WP:PUR and WT:PW plus the section I posted at WT:PUR.
Because you're an admin and I've always considered you "The Godfather" of WP:PUR, I'd like your insight on everything. Also, I'd like your help in trying to make WP:PUR as successful as possible. I'm going to dedicate myself fully to WP:PUR in the near future and try to take it to new limits.

Mi mano derecha, I'm glad to see back here. I'm happy that things have gone fine with your university studies. Right now, I am not doing much because my computer is out of order and I am using my daughters, but once I get it fixed we will team up as "El Duo Dinamico" and work on some articles. I did expand Antonio R. Barcelo, Liberal Party (Puerto Rico), Rio Piedras massacre and the "History" section of the Yauco articles before my computer failed. I think that they look much better now.
