CSD G1

Hello, Capsulecap,

If you can understand the content of an article or draft, it isn't "incoherent gibberish". Examples of incoherent content would be "flying wastebins colored night ALL THE TIME" or "dkj$803Nid". That is considered gibberish. The pages that you tagged CSD G1 were just bad drafts. They can be left alone and they will either be improved by the editor or, if abandoned, they will be deleted in 6 months.

You might take a moment to review Criteria for Speedy deletion so you understand them a little better. They are intentionally very specific and limited so they have to fit the articles and drafts or the tagging will be declined. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:36, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

I understand. I marked those as G1 because they had grammar problems, sounded like ads, and were on nonexistent topics. On that note, are there any cases in which I should tag a draft space page with G3 (as a hoax)? Many draft pages I encounter are about obviously invented topics, but I'm not sure whether they should be left alone or G3ed. Capsulecap (talkcontribs) 02:05, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

Five references is a great starting point for articles. In most cases you should be fine. Capsulecap (talkcontribs) 17:01, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

Hello. I’d like to make the Frank Morano (media personality and radio host) page permanent, so I can add back any deletions made by his political opponents. I don’t really know what I’m doing, but I did set up a nice page a few weeks ago, then someone else ruined it by deletion. --RobotUSA (talk) 07:32, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

Question from Nelco3d (06:53, 26 August 2023)

Please, I'm a new registered Editor, I haven't done any publication yet. I want to write an article for brand, it's a new brand. how can I get to write it to get it approved on Wikipedia. --Nelco3d (talk) 06:53, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

User:Nelco3d, if it's a new brand, it's likely it's not yet a suitable topic for an encyclopaedia. All Wikipedia articles are based on reliable published sources that are independent of the subject and talk about the subject in some depth. Newer brands typically don't meet this requirement, since most of the information published about them tends to come from the company with which they're affiliated, press releases, etc. See the specific notability guideline for details and examples. You may also find the essay WP:BACKWARD informative, and WP:42 as an easily memorised summary of the important policy considerations.
If you do think the published sources you've found about the new brand are sufficient to establish "notability" (which we use as shorthand meaning "suitable for encyclopaedic inclusion"), WP:YFA has further guidance for article creation, but please do be aware that Wikipedia is not a platform for promoting brands, and unsuitable drafts of a promotional nature are typically deleted rather quickly. All the best, Folly Mox (talk) 13:12, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

Question from Paleolithic Science (21:11, 12 October 2023)

Greetings Capsulecap: My goal is to create an article focused on Paleolithic cave drawings; to reveal a secret of the "doodles" which will change the understanding of our ancestors. Who traveled from South Africa leaving rock carvings (Rupestre in Spanish) that reveal much more than simple drawings. They were tracking the movements of heavenly bodies. I've visited a cave in Puebla Mexico, am scheduled to visit two more in 2024: Nayarit Mexico and Bomblos South Africa. To confirm the finding of an Artist who has resisted publishing his findings (which I'm pledged to respect) by researching and investigating three caves in person; then on-line visits to others to compare my construction of early science reaching back 90,000 years (or more). I'm looking forward to this adventure and hope that Capsulecap will be able to contribute valuable guidance: By balancing my enthusiasm with realistic guard rails, as I make suppositions about the value of Rupestre. Greetings from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: The best vacation spot in the world (according to several travel organizations and my enthusiastic underscoring of their comments). Welcome along for the journey into the past. QUESTION: How would you suggest we begin? The basic underpinning of my writing has already been graphically supported by the Artist; so it is possible to construct a summary (while visits to Nayarit and Bombloss are pending). Thanks for any help you can offer. October 12, 2023. --Paleolithic Science (talk) 21:11, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive

Hello Capsulecap:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 2900 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:23, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

Question from WendlingCrusader (01:21, 24 February 2024)

Hi. I made a sequence of edits to the same article, most of which seem to have been accepted, but in one case another editor made further improvements and flagged up a lack of citations (by me). I was almost expecting this, but I am surprised the request wasn't bounced back directly to me, in order that I could correct my own oversight. Instead I have only found out 'by accident'. Is this normal, or am I missing something? Is there a way to discuss it with this editor? Secondly - I would like some help with the citations themselves, as in two cases the source for my statement is something that is already stated within the same article, more than once, and I have merely re-expressed the same information. I probably need to identify the specifics for this to make sense to you, but I will leave that for now. Del --WendlingCrusader (talk) 01:21, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

Please ignore the above; I believe I have sorted it out for myself now. WendlingCrusader (talk) 01:06, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
