Truth

Some of the people I introduce to wikipedia have difficulty with factual information being changed. Here is my take on Truth.

• Observable Truth

An idea or concept which can be independently verified. e.g. The number three.

The word three is an invention but the number concept of an integer one bigger than two is an observable truth.

• Agreeable Truth

An idea or concept that a group of people agree to be The Truth. Other groups may have a different view.

The symbol for three i.e. 3 (a line with three end points) is the commonly used symbol in modern times. In the past (and today?) other symbols have been used.

Wrong Accusations

Thanks for your support, how can one tell between a bot and an actual user, I would think that human administrators are capable of distinguishing between vandalism and cleaning up. I noticed that when I logged in, and stopped editing under an anonymous IP, the accusations stopped; is there a bias against people without accounts?Storms991 (talk) 01:17, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Some editors have noted that most vandalism is done by anonymous users so they habitually check those edits. Sometimes they get it wrong. Vandalism is a big problem but it does not excuse the false positives that careless editors make which can cause a lot of ill feeling. Good bots like ClueBot (talk · contribs) have details on how they are used and seem to make few mistakes. Real people sometimes use tools to help them like Huggle; indiscriminate use can lead to mistakes. --Brian R Hunter (talk) 06:52, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Brian R Hunter! I'm just leaving you a message in response to the AIV report you filed for this user account. First, I'll start by saying that the user's edits were definitely vandalism and the report you filed at AIV was a good one - I've blocked the user as a vandalism-only account. I just wanted to let you know about this section of Wikipedia's policies on user pages. Specifically, users are allowed to remove messages, notes, warnings, and notices from their own user talk pages. There are some notices and tags that they cannot remove from their own user talk pages (they are listed at the section I linked you to), but these weren't present on the user's talk page. No worries, though... I didn't know about this policy until someone messaged me about it after seeing me do the exact same thing that you did. ;-) Anyways, if you have any questions, just let me know and I'll be happy to answer them. @41.202.241.5: Hi Gary, I left a message on the talk page of an IP user, that is an unregistered user at the IP address 41.202.241.5

is probably a shared IP address so is not necessarily you, just someone using the same IP. To avoid problems like this, please create yourself a registered user. They are free and it ensures the posts you make do not get confused with someone else.

Also, note that your message was unsigned by you (there is more than one Gary on here). You can sign any comments automatically by adding ~~~~ at the end of your message.

Hi, while there maybe some excess detail; I felt it not warrant an 'undo'. If you want to refactor the page by changing some of the additional information, I would see it as a better way forward. Anthony Daniels

Is this the talk page? Just asking, I'm not exactly sure.

Anyways, If wondering about that minor change in Anthony Daniels, it was something that needed to be fixed up. As A Star Wars, and a C-3P0 fan, I know for any factor he did in fact NOT appeared in a Lilo and Stitch cartoon. I've checked the episode and nether was he or his character appeared in it.

I really wasn't finding the appeal for that to be untrue to other who read it, so it really had to be changed.

reverting a short description?

I have absolutely no idea why you reverted my addition of a Wikipedia:Short description to ICL VME. It's not the slightest bit controversial. Every article should have a short description of less than 40 characters. Secretlondon (talk) 19:48, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

The wikidata description is one additional word and only a few characters over the 40 'limit' (which is allowed) but I have reverted back to your revision after re-reading Wikipedia:Short_description.
