Disambiguation link notification for April 11[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Arlen Ness, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Knucklehead. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi, thanks for the e-mail. I've read it, but I can't reply right now because I'm going out (on my own) in 10 mins and my dad is fussing like mad. I'll reply when I get back. Thank you :) Linguisttalk|contribs 09:00, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, mate. I do get you point on not customising navboxes though, especially if it gets too distracting or unnecessary like the navbox for a Filipino singing contest or GTA at one time. That's where reverting it to a more standardised design comes in. Blake Gripling (talk) 23:14, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Harley-Davidson: Wheels of Freedom[edit]

Hello. I appreciated your contribution to the Harley-Davidson: Race Across America page that I initiated. I would like to ask for you contribution again for the newly created page, "Harley-Davidson: Wheels of Freedom". I look forward to reading your content. Thanks! Orphaned non-free image File:Sony Vegas 13 icon.png[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Sony Vegas 13 icon.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:42, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Harley-Davidson: Race Around the World[edit]

"Third times a charm, eh?", I once again initiated another wikipage, Harley-Davidson: Race Around the World. I'm leaving this article in your hands. Thanks. Videogameplayer99 (talk) 01:02, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry my man, since you're a fan of those Harley-Davidson games, I trust that you'll in good faith and good spirits, re-create this article and save it from deletion. Thanks for the support. Videogameplayer99 (talk) 21:12, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, sorry if I didn't get to you sooner and edited the article; I was a bit preoccupied with countless errands at home lately. Blake Gripling (talk) 21:52, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, I understand. Yeah, whenever you have spare time, feel free to create the article. I look forward to reading it. Videogameplayer99 (talk) 23:36, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see what I can do, though as it stands the games appear to be barely notable. Race Across America and Wheels of Freedom did receive some extensive reviews, but it was by and large a run of the mill, bargin-bin title that didn't gain much notoriety. Blake Gripling (talk) 00:26, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's okay if you don't end up writing the article, no pressure man. If gamers really want to know about the game they can google it or even purchase the game themselves. Yeah, notability is a very important thing to abide by. Videogameplayer99 (talk) 21:15, 8 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Halloween cheer![edit]

Hi. My view is that because Official Mascot is a title, it should be capitalised. Also, we are discouraged from using "U.S." and "USA" instead of "United States".

Hence why I thanked you for the edit. :) Blake Gripling (talk) 08:18, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Tropical Hut, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:34, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Nicky Grist, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mark Higgins (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Your draft article, Draft:Tropical Hut[edit]

Hello, Blakegripling ph. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Tropical Hut".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JustaZBguy (talk) 22:07, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:16, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio-revdel[edit]

As requested on IRC, you can use the template {{copyvio-revdel}} to request revision deletion of copyright violations. The standard syntax is {{copyvio-revdel |url= |start= |end= }}.

  • |url= paste the URL of the source of the copyvio here
  • |start= include the "oldid" number of the oldest revision to contain the copyright-violating text here
  • |end= include the "oldid" number of the most recent revision with the copyvio text (you can omit this parameter if there's only one revision)

2019 US Banknote Contest[edit]

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run[edit]

Last night, I entered the facts of the fan outrage of the movie skipping theatres in the film's article. I used those five YouTube videos from fans expressing disappointment as reliable sources. I also tried to use the petitions from Change.org and Care2 as sources, but for some reason, Wikipedia won't let me. What should I do? -- Cody Fearless-Lee (talk) - 4:08PM - July 16, 2020 —Preceding undated comment added 20:08, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:UGC, YouTube videos are generally considered as unreliable except in cases where the person or organisation who uploaded it is deemed reliable by the community. To top it all off, unless if you could prove that the outrage has seen widespread news coverage (which it apparently isn't the last time I checked), I doubt that your passage is worth adding at least for now. Mini 4WD[edit]

I guess the tags removed were removed correctly as there is no discussion on the talk page. I'm not clear myself about the issues. Doug Weller talk 14:52, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, though as I said on your talk page I tagged the article as it is clearly leaning towards fancruft and is littered with nonfree images. It would have been better if the article was more concise and within the scope of the project as any more intricacies would have to be on a dedicated wiki or explained in brief along with reliable references. Salbakuta moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Salbakuta, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Please specify the source[edit]

Hi - you added the {{copyvio-revdel}} template to Nora Aunor - could you please specify the URL/source of the copyrighted material? ~TNT (she/her • talk) 14:26, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nora Aunor[edit]

You've tagged this article a requiring revdel due to copyright infringements but the revisions you've identified, as far as I can tell, are he revisions where the offending material was removed, not those where it was added - which is where the revdel needs to start. Can you identify when the material was added as I can't see it? Nthep (talk) 19:45, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, looks like I have to comb through the page history as to where the violations first appeared. Blake Gripling (talk) 03:17, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Just ping me when you've found it and I'll sort it out the REVDEL. Nthep (talk) 08:31, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why the Category:Obscenity controversies in music addition? The article does not mention obscenity or controversy. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 01:19, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The song was subject to the Satanic Panic of the 80s which put a great many pop and rock songs under conservatives' crosshairs where they spuriously alleged that the music in question contained diabolical messages. Having such subliminal messaging would have construed some form of obscenity. Blake Gripling (talk) 01:27, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But nothing in the article indicates that in any way. If you've got a WP:RS connecting some "obscenity controversy" (which the Satanic Panic wasn't), and mention it in the article, the category might be suitable; as it is, including the category in that article simply makes the reader grasp for connections that aren't presented at all. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 02:41, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I sourced it from a thesis which in itself was well-cited and contained a LOT of info on the religious/occult obscenity controversies around the time. Blake Gripling (talk) 02:44, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The word "obscenity" does not appear in that thesis at all; the word "obscene" only appears in reference to a 1937 history of witchcraft, in reference to Voodoo. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 14:19, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! Blake Gripling (talk) 05:34, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that you blanked the whole LTA page of him because of WP:DENY rules. I think I'm starting to do the same thing here with WP:LTA/BMX. When I woke up I went to Wikipedia on my phone and saw one of the revisions of my user talk page got edited by the vandal and an admin had to RevDel it all of a sudden. I've seen enough of this troll, so the only options are to request an MFD nomination for that user, or just completely blank on purpose.

I have two questions regarding this matter.
1. What should I do. Is it better that I just blank it or just nominate it through MFD right away?
2. Would it actually help more if I do either of those things?
That's all I wanted to ask. Have a great day. kleshkreikne. T 21:41, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Given the fairly blatant vandalism by BMX I'd say blanking and/or MFDing the LTA page would be more advisable; any such noticeboards seem to serve more to give BMX attention and incentivise them into trolling even further. Blake Gripling (talk) 21:49, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, it's gone now. We all have a few of the most severe cases of LTA's, for example: MRY and SGK. They both will not be as bad this one. This case of LTA has gone off limits now that's it's come to the point where I'm starting to get PTSD because of this. What I've seen from this user has gone too far. Thank you so much, thank God it's gone now. And now I have another question. Would an MFD nomination for his user page and all of his sockpuppets' user pages work, like you did with User:Supreme Genghis Khan work? kleshkreikne. T 22:26, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It depends I guess. Blake Gripling (talk) 22:30, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We have WP:DENY, so... Blake Gripling (talk) 03:44, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again. Apparently my page blanking got reverted because it actually hurt more than it helped, the user made death threats to me with an inappropriate username and now because of that, my user talk page got protected for a week. So in my opinion you shouldn’t be too harsh on vandals because this might not help with the vandal either. Before blanking, I think it’s better to form a discussion that meets clear consensus first than do it altogether. See the MRY LTA talk page for further information. kleshkreikne. T 08:22, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In that case bring it to the Wikimedia Legal Department as this is definitely crossing the line and should addressed with swiftly. Even if the user does not actually have a credible intent to harm anyone, any and all death threats should be taken SERIOUSLY. Blake Gripling (talk) 08:28, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we should have like an open discussion about the blanking of the LTA pages and how it might help with WP:DENY. See WT:Long-term abuse/My Royal Young for further information. I’m doubtful that it might not be worth it. Apparently we’re also not supposed to courtesy blank LTA pages (per this thread), even if you wanted to do it per deny. It’ll actually gain more recognition to the vandals rather than denying it though. kleshkreikne. T 21:14, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
