Do not remove sourced content from articles. Especially as you have been paid to come here and promote the subject of the article. Even if it also appears further into the piece, the lede is a summary and introduction. While we appreciate your disclosure, you have COI on this article. - CorbieV 20:39, 13 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You assume I am here to promote Michael Harner, when in fact I am paid to monitor this article and to maintain a neutral voice as much as possible and correct/remove contentious and libelous information due to previous abuses.
I have been actively reviewing sources and found several criticisms of Noel's book, one of which was written by an anthropologist who feels the book is a personal attack of Harner, Mircea Eliade and Carlos Castaneda. Since no page number is given for the source I deleted there is way to verify that, in fact, Noel's book is a trusted source for the opinion that core shamanism is a "path of personal development for new age adherents of neoshamanism." I think such a contentious subject would best be undertaken in a separate section or in a new article (the current neoshamanism article being pretty poor) rather than dropped like a bomb in the opening paragraph.
I respectively request that my edit of the opening paragraph be restored (Noel's book is given as a source in a more appropriate context under the section Development of Core Shamanism) and that possibly we could work together to create a more meaningful discussion with good sources of the differences between what is known as neoshamanism, core shamanism, and contemporary shamanism which would include both Harner's detractors and his supporters.
Thank you.--Bashamfour (talk) 20:30, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
