Orphaned non-free media (Image:Bad to the bone cover.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bad to the bone cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. This is a legit band, while obviously not a signed band or famous, to the members, it feels like an accomplishment to have something like this, and think it's a great addition to furthering the band's popularity. There are many other articles on Wikipedia, that have one sentence pages, that don't even really need a page on here. This page is an accomplishment and for it to be taken away just because someone deems it "not important" enough really makes this place not seem too friendly. We really feel that this page should be given fair consideration, as I think this is the coolest way to help promote the band and can get people to be somewhat interested and I personally don't know of a better place to write a biography on a band.

I hope you understand that kids want to have fun as this page harms no one and it would mean a ton to the the people involved in this project.

Hi Bryan,

Although Wikipedia is huge and has articles on many things, it does have minimal criteria regarding notability (see WP:BAND for information related to bands and other musical groups). Further, WP is explicitly not designed for publicity, but rather to report on things that others have already reported elsewhere. If you find other articles that you feel are not worthy, by all means report those pages. Make sure they really are not up to WP standards though...many "stub" articles are viable because the short content does assert some sort of notability in the Wikipedia sense. "This other short article exists too!" is not a reason to keep your very short article. DMacks (talk) 05:11, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should read WP:COI (judging from the repeated use of "we"). Also, it looks like (from the article history) you put the {{db-band}} tag there when you created the page. Can anyone clear this up for me? Finally, you're not supposed to remove db tags from articles you created. License tagging for Image:Topathehillband.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Topathehillband.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

I have a feeling that it will be deleted this time as it is a copy and paste of the web site you gave as a reference. If deleted all you have to do is rewrite the article in your own words and it should be ok, please ask me any questions you like regarding this and I will help you all I can. If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
