Orphaned non-free image (Image:Stlseal.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Stlseal.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:22, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Mainolin.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mainolin.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:48, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

list of US law schools

Hi, I just wanted to thank you for converting the article into a wikitable, it must have take a while to get through such a huge list. Are you active on other law-related articles? Wl219 23:12, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, actually I haven't really been involved in the other legal articles, although I would like to be more active- thank you Astuishin (talk) 00:39, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:C98dann.png

Thanks for uploading Image:C98dann.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigΔT 22:58, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Jennifer Martz

I find it hard to believe you are contesting Jennifer Martz' notability. If you are trying to prompt me to rewrite the article, the world is sparse on details about her as she excelled just prior to the real boom in the internet. I would welcome credible help. I will remove your tag without reply in the near future. TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 21:39, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

She is a high ranked former D3 vollyball player, how does that make her relevant? I did a google search and very hits came up. Yes she's on the internet but how does that make her notable?- thank you Astuishin (talk) 21:45, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Google hits don't accurately measure the notability of the 90s athletes as well as the do 21st century athletes. We can go to AFD if you want. I will contest any suggestion of removal and want the tag removed. My guess is that she is considered important enough by her accomplishments to stay. Reply to my talk page. TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 22:02, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
By virtue of all the athletic awards she has won she is notable. If you are not willing to take the tag off lets replace it with an WP:AFD tag and get a broader opinion. TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 14:08, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Public Relations

Keen to understand the reference you added to the Public Relations page - can you explain why you have added it?

I simply added the template box and corrected the names within it, so to better link the topic's of propaganda.- thank you Astuishin (talk) 15:15, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Construction of Chicago Spire

Just so you are aware the construction of the Chicago Spire has not yet officially begun. They have started digging at the site, but Shelbourne and the rest of the community don't consider the building "officially" under construction yet. As soon as they start inserting caissons into the earth construction will begin. Because this is supposed to happen July 9th I won't change any of your edits, but I thought I'd let you know. Chupper 12:59, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I just made a assumption from the pictures that construction has started, and the "end of June" statement. My mistake.- thank you Astuishin (talk) 19:51, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Chicago, Illinois (disambiguation)

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Chicago, Illinois (disambiguation), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have perfomed a web search with the contents of Warren Henry Cole, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.whonamedit.com/doctor.cfm/2918.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 07:11, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Copyrighted text from other websites

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Southern_California University for Professional Studies article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page. ×Meegs 11:13, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

In light of the Warren Henry Cole article that you contributed just two weeks ago, I strongly suggest that you conduct a careful and thorough review of all of the contributions that you have made to Wikipedia in order to find and remove any other violations of copyright that you have introduced. This may take a very long time, but please make it your top priority, ahead of all new contributions. Be aware that you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia altogether upon any future copyright violation. ×Meegs 11:33, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

More copyright violations

Your articles Lieutenant Governor of Missouri and The Washington Manual of Medical Therapeutics were also completely copied from other websites, and I have deleted them both. Now that the magnitude of the problem is clear, I must insist that you stop all other editing and begin a thorough review of every one the contributions that you have made since joining Wikipedia. As I said in my last message, which has mysteriously disappeared, the process may take a very long time, but is extremely important.

Also, it would be nice if you did not selectively archive your talk page. It makes you very hard to communicate with. ×Meegs 12:08, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

More copyvios:
The last one, you just recreated with much of the same copied content! Rearranging the order of sentences and changing a word or two is not sufficient. You must contribute your own words, and only your own words to Wikipedia. Now, seriously, please assist in finding and removing your past violations. You can not expect others to clean up you mess. Writing new content and replacing deleted content is not nearly as important as making sure the project complies with copyright law. ×Meegs 12:51, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Hank Klibanoff and Asia Pacific Management Institute were also completely copied and are now deleted. I'm not going to look much more; the rest is on you. I see that you have just removed some offending content from Michael E. Phelps. That's great, keep it up. ×Meegs 13:11, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

One more thing, also fairly important. When you need to copy content from one Wikipedia page to another, such as when you are splitting a large article into two, you must indicate the source of the material where you do the pasting. An edit summary noting the name of the source article is sufficient. The GNU free documentation license, which covers all of the text in the project, requires that we keep track of all of the contributors. If you do not indicate the source of the material, it there is no link the the text's earlier history and the earlier contributors do not receive the attribution that the GFDL requires. ×Meegs 13:19, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

MSA Template

Your changes to Template:Infobox Metropolitan Area are not displaying correctly in many MSA articles. See Kansas City Metropolitan Area and Atlanta Metropolitan Area for examples. Notice that the second section of the infobox is displaying "[[Image:{{{image}}}|200px|center|Map of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area]]". Does something need to be altered in the articles, or in the template itself? Thank you for your help,

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Rudragpic.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Rudragpic.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Library template

Caution, though Wikipedia does encourage editors to be bold when editing, that is actually cautioned against with templates. I'm all for improvment, but it needs to be done correctly, and with the library template it was not done correctly. If you click on the "what links here" link for the template you will see that the template is used on more than 50 articles, which means you have screwed up everyone of those articles that had an image using the previous text field. Either revert your edits, go through all the articles and update the infoboxes, or re-add the "library logo" field to co-exist with the "image field" you have added. I personally prefer the "image field" over a logo, so that is an improvment, but we can just screw up all the other articles. Aboutmovies 06:49, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Presidential Administrations

I changed from Administration to Presidency because it reflects a larger subject matter. The "Administration" only reflect those officials that served under a President during his term of office while "Presidency" includes all officials, events, and other matters relating his tenure as President. Rougher07 (talk) 04:09, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Please stop adding POV to Alan Colmes entry bio

Atsuishin, I think you are wrong to keep changing the first paragraph of the Alan Colmes article to reflect the views of his critics. I'm a little newer to Wikipedia than you but I am sure that it's unfair to the article's neutrality for the opening paragraph to state that the subject of the article is wrong. Your version also includes 3 links to establish this and they all go to websites of his critics. Again, this is anything but neutral. I do agree there is a debate about whether Alan Colmes is a true blue liberal, and that's why there is a section for critics. That's fine. Let's please agree that the first section doesn't need to make Alan Colmes look like a liar. --Faldo57 (talk) 23:44, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

I include both Colmes side of the story and his critics. I don't see how that is pov. And I will continue to change the article. thanks Astuishin (talk) 00:18, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Within the context of the whole article, yes is important to have those things. However, your version makes it seem as if his critics' opinions of him are just as important as the basic biographical details about him. If it was truly without POV maybe you would include Colmes, his supporters, and his critics. Or maybe, as I think, the first section should include just the basic facts, and as I already pointed out, there is a criticism section to deal with those things you noted. Just because they're well sourced doesn't mean they belong in the first paragraph. Your version even omits his radio show. It's pretty clear you don't like him and want negative opinions in the first paragraph. That is POV. And I will keep correcting the page, too. You're welcome. --Faldo57 (talk) 06:36, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
1) what supporters? I doubt there are many people outside the Fox News PR office that would describe Colmes at best as a moderate democrat (DLC), if you can provide some other prominent critics on the left, however I'd by open to changing my mind. 2) on the basic facts; I very much agree with your desire to stick to the basic facts and if questions of ideology are removed I wouldn't mine supplanting the disputed edits to the criticism section. 3) I can tell you're not quite as familiar with wikipedia as you could be, otherwise you probably would have refrained for stating that "I don't like Colmes", prehaps you examine the Assume good faith policy, your superstitions of my bias not withstanding (and mine of yours) shouldn't lead you to assume that I have malicious intentions.
Unfortunately and obviously your arguments have failed to persuade me to change my views so my initial response to your comment stands. thanks Astuishin (talk) 07:22, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Maybe I haven't persuaded you just yet, but you haven't persuaded me either. I think your personal arguments about where Colmes stands are all fine and I don't even completely disagree... but they simply don't belong in the first paragraph. There is a criticism section, and that's where it goes. I refer to my point about how the intro section should be limited to factual information and not be colored by views of his critics. There is a place for that. And again, your version leaves out his radio show, which he has done for longer than Hannity & Colmes. Reverted, you're welcome.--Faldo57 (talk) 21:57, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm unclear about your argument, introductions are suppose to include the most notable thing about a person or subject, so for instance Jane Fonda is a Oscar winning actor but her article mentions the role she played during the Vietnam war. Colmes would probably not be very notable, save of the response the he has from his critics commenting on his employment at fox news, there are plenty of radio talk show host. I have a subject view that Colmes ideological Claims are not very accurate, however that does not make any opposing argument objective simply because it is in opposition. You state the intro section should be "limited to factual information" which of course is obviously why I have been editing the current articles state. It is not a fact, in my view that Colmes is "Liberal". Fortunately its is also the view share by many critics who self identify as liberals. furthermore nothing in the opening section is not factual, I present, as a stated above, the fox news version of events and then I present the critics, both are clearly denoted and both are sourced. You state that you feel the articles criticism has a place and should be lumped to together at the end, but you don't seem to be changing the article to reflect those beliefs. Perhaps you can offer a more complete argument. thanks Astuishin (talk) 23:27, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
The most important thing about Alan Colmes is that many liberals don't believe he is liberal enough? Well, that's a subjective interpretation. I would argue you wouldn't even know who Colmes is if he wasn't a TV and radio personality, so the TV and radio personality aspects of his career should go up top. I further disagree that something that's listed in his Fox News bio is so important that it belongs in the primary facts about him. And as for your citing the Wikipedia rule that one should Assume Good Faith -- well, one doesn't have to assume good faith forever. You clearly want the entry to be negative toward Alan Colmes. That's not good faith. One reason I say this is that you attach 3 sources to that sentence. Really, if you need 3 sources then it's obviously pretty contentious. It is a *fact* that Colmes does radio and TV. His relative liberalism is a matter of *opinion*. Therefore it belongs in the following paragraph, and that's where it stays now. You say I am not changing the article to reflect that belief? Excuse me, I haven't erased the Criticisms section. --Faldo57 (talk) 19:39, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
1) I will have to ask you again to refrain from using negative attacks, it is against the spirit of wikipedia. 2) its true an important fact about Colmes is that many liberal media critics reject his idealogical pronouncements, there are almost no media stories on him that do not include this controversy close to their opening phrases. And really there is no dispute about this. 3) I think you have misunderstood me, I didn't state you removed anything from the criticism sections. I stated that you have not altered the article to reflect your views on the article(as opposed to keeping the inadequate status quot). 4) i will try to re-word the opening sentence if you like. But i still don't really understand the grounds that you object to my edits of the article. thanks Astuishin (talk) 00:57, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
I apologize for not commenting again, but I have been traveling. Anyway I thought your last version was much more fair, removing even the left vs. right aspect of the show makes sense to me. My grounds are just that including facts about subjective opinions are best left out of the main paragraph. For example, the first paragraph of Oliver Stone's entry does not say "many critics argue he blends fiction with fact in a way that does disservice to popular conceptions of recent history" although this is undoubtedly true. Instead, this is in a "Controversy" section on his page. Anyway, glad we could resolve this. --Faldo57 (talk) 23:00, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Agreed thanks Astuishin (talk) 06:40, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:North douglassc biophoto.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:North douglassc biophoto.jpg. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 17:36, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: WU profs

I got the list at the National Academies of Science Web site. There is a directory form where you can search for members of the academies by name, institution, field, etc. Unfortunately I don't have bios for any of the ones without Wikipedia articles. Information on those profs is difficult to find, as many of these professors retired long before Wikipedia rise to prominence.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Chucknorfox.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Chucknorfox.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Commercial use of Image:Wustlspic.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Wustlspic.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Wustlspic.jpg has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[5][6]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Wustlspic.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. Image copyright problem with Image:Civ2TOT.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Civ2TOT.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Those fun titles

Funny how Schafly is the "conservative, anti-feminist activist" Schafly, yet you decided it was prudent to scrub Harry Belafonte's page of the link to a list of American liberals. WP:CHICAGO leadership

This month you have indicated new or continuing interest in WP:CHICAGO as either an active or semi-active member. The response to the project membership survey was strong enough that we should attempt to organize it in a more fully functional way. Please sign up at Wikipedia:CHICAGO/leadership if you would be willing to serve as a leader of the project from September 1, 2008 to February 28, 2009. The various leadership responsibilities are listed there. The roles will be somewhat similar to the roles of Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Coordinators. We are a less mature and developed project than WP:MILHIST however, so our division of roles will be slightly different. Please respond by the 23rd.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 18:52, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:MoyersPressC.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:MoyersPressC.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:MoyersPressC.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. user:Everyme 04:00, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of William Shaw (businessman)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article William Shaw (businessman), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Wash U image

I've been in touch with the Wash U administration, and we've come to a compromise. As you know, they object to the official seal being used. The administration has agreed to use their "more unofficial" seal on Wikipedia. Of course, the compromise means nothing if Wikipedia editors want another image. Hopefully we can settle this issue. Also, the administration uploaded the image to Commons under a free license, so we could add it to Template:WUSTL. Let me know what you think. Shubinator (talk) 23:30, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
