April 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Tarl N.. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, 50000 Quaoar, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Tarl N. (discuss) 22:49, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tarl N, The first detections of a dense arc in the Q1R ring were published in the 7 Feb 2023 Nature paper. I'll assume you made a mistake and aren't part of a cover-up. I reply here because your talk page was retired last month. Feel free to ask anything you don't understand about the Australian observations. Cheers. @Astronut247: Hello, it seems like Tarl N. is concerned that you didn't add a reference/citation directly next to the sentence that you added to the article. The paragraph which you added the sentence in only has two sources attached to the very end of the paragraph (<ref name="Devlin"><ref name="Morgado2023">) instead of being consistently attached to each sentence, which makes it unclear which sentences are being verified by which reference and such. Usually, the Wikipedia referencing policy recommends attaching a reference to each sentence--that's not to imply that people don't know how to look at references, but it's simply to make it easier to show where each line information comes from. To remedy your issue with Tarl N.'s removal, I've added a reference to your sentence. Hope this helps!
Also, I very much appreciate your detailed contributions to the Quaoar, so thank you for your time. I'm sorry to hear that Tarl N.'s warning sounds discouraging to you--they don't mean it. Nrco0e (talk) 01:37, 22 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Nrco0e, Thanks for the tip. I didn't add a reference because I thought there might be a problem in repeating one that is already at the end of the paragraph. My earlier edits about the ring's discovery were replaced by a paragraph under the heading "Discovery" that appears designed to sweep under the carpet any mention of discovery circumstances and discredit those involved. This is a serious matter. Please keep an eye out for more interference in my last edit and act if there's no credible justification provided. Thanks, Astronut247 (talk) 04:43, 22 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
