Hello there, Sending a friendly message your way. I was wondering if you know how to do the online student training as a student. Hopefully this site is more user friendly for you. I am having a little difficulty navigating around. Also, which class time are you in?

Cheers, Lynsey

Hey! If you type in wp:student up in the search bar of Wikipedia it will take you through student training. I have had some trouble too, it seems the best way to learn for me is just to keep experimenting with it! Also, I am in the 11:50 class time :)

All the best, Amyhallstrom (talk) 04:04, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the Wikipedia Education Program![edit]

Hi, Amy!

On behalf of the Wikipedia Education Program, I wanted to thank you for taking the orientation. It's really helpful for us to know that the videos are useful, but some of the information is too repetitive, so we can make it more useful for other students like you. I hope you'll feel free to refer back to the orientation while you're making your first edits, and please don't hesitate to reach out to your Ambassador for any help or advice. Welcome to Wikipedia, and I hope you enjoy your unique assignment! JMathewson (WMF) (talk) 21:25, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for Topic of World Music[edit]

These are the articles that I am looking to research further for my topic, looking into how world music is being used to teach children musical culture.

Thoughts on Intercultural Project[edit]

I keep changing which page I will be editing as I keep discovering more and more pages that narrow in on my topic. I had decided to edit the Music Education page, but then found a page directly about Music Education for younger children that hasn't been worked on very much. I am in the process of reading through all of my sources and gaining more information to more accurately describe the benefits of incorporating world music and culture into a child's musical education. Amyhallstrom (talk) 01:40, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent! Please embed the wikilink of a page you reference - what is the link for your new topic page? Ajungle (talk) 07:49, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Music education for young children is the page I will be editing. I have already contributed to the talk page and seen that other users want the page to be improved. Hopefully I can help to add more information and make the page better.

Summary of Edits-Wiki 6[edit]

On the Music education for young children page, I will be adding one or two new sections on the page regarding the following:

  • World Music being used in young children's education
  • Current trends in music education
  • Benefits and areas of improvement

It seemed like the common statement on the page were that other users were unhappy with how few citations were being used, so I will continue to back up all of my information with citations of every article I quote.Amyhallstrom (talk) 05:15, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Using Sources-Wiki 4[edit]

For this assignment, I edited Japanese Gardens under the section titled "Japanese Gardens in the English Speaking World". I added two sentences quoting a book by David Slawson talking about how Americans have changed the true beauty of the natural Japanese garden. Amyhallstrom (talk) 05:14, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Help us improve the Wikipedia Education Program[edit]

Hi Amyhallstrom! As a student editor on Wikipedia, you have a lot of valuable experience about what it's like to edit as a part of a classroom assignment. In order to help other students like you enjoy editing while contributing positively to Wikipedia, it's extremely helpful to hear from real student editors about their challenges, successes, and support needs. Peer Review[edit]

Hey Amy, I'm from the 11:50 Class. For the assignment 9 we are supposed to give feedback so I went and looked at what you've been doing and it looks great! Interesting subject choice and you have a lot of good sources to work with it looks like.

Wiki 9[edit]

I looked over Cweber10 and Lodeo's pages and reviewed the new information they had put up. It all seemed to only improve the article. Amyhallstrom (talk) 05:00, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review Comments[edit]

Hi! I was reading through your page on music education for children and I have really been enjoying it! I saw an alert on the top this page that says that the page looks too much like an advertisement. Maybe to fix this you could add some information about why it is important for students to have musical education. Keep up all your good work! Kellyflips (talk) 00:27, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Amy, I really enjoyed reading about your page on music education for children. I think the things you have done will be beneficial for children. I have had some experience in children's music education so I think your work will be beneficial for lots of teachers as well! Rodmer Lomboy (talk) 21:41, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki 10[edit]

I read through the comments that were left on my page and took action to fix what people had suggested. I added more information on the page so that it might look less like an advertisement. I also looked through the article and tried to fix anything that would make it look that way.

Feedback[edit]

Good job on your article, Amy! I really liked the part you added about how schools in Connecticut used music to educate children about other cultues. Lodeo (talk) 03:52, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
