Hello

My husband is the actor Paul McGann. We are fed up with the inaccurate information on the wikipedia page. The inaccuracies are repeated all over the internet and repeated by lazy journalists. I request that the personal information about me and his children and anything concerning our marriage be removed. We have been together since April 1982 and married in July 1992. We are still married and celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last year. We live together and have children together but I can't see that it is anyone's business but ours! It's true that he had an affair (more than one) but that's nobody's business either. Sorry if I am not writing in the code and so on that you want but I am not fluent in computer symbols and I don't want to spend hours arguing with Dr Who fans who like to think they know more than we do. I have tried to get these things corrected for years but someone always puts them back. SO ANNOYING! I can't give references because it's our lives and apart from doing a webcam from our house I don't know how (or why) I would prove the negative which is the private information on the wiki page! It has nothing to do with his career and it is tiring to see these things repeated in newspapers. Paul is about to appear in a soap for a year so there are bound to be journalists calling repeating the nonsense on the page in their coverage of his appearance. We are not divorced - we have been married for 26 years - end of. Stop invading our privacy!!!!!

Thanks for your attention.

Annie McGann (Mrs)

Hello. To resolve this you will need to email info-en-qwikipedia.org which will go to our WP:OTRS team. They will be able to sort out your issue. Have a wonderful day! Bobherry Talk Edits 16:15, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Hello Mrs. McGann and welcome to Wikipedia. I am an adminstrator and after reading your request for help I am going to refer you to our Volunteer Response Team who I believe are in the best position to help sort out your concerns. Please follow the link and you will find a page with instructions on how to contact them as well as a great deal of "about" information. Before heading off to their page I would like to gently remind you that while we do try to be as sensitive as possible to legitimate privacy concerns, this is an encyclopedia. Assuming that the subject of a given article meets our criteria for inclusion which broadly speaking can be termed encyclopedic notability and that the information in the article is accurate and referenced to independent reliable sources and relevant to the subject, then removing it is usually problematic at best. One of our core policies is that Wikipedia is WP:NOTCENSORED. Still there circumstances where articles can be tweaked. You will want to contact our Volunteer Response Team for a more detailed discussion of your concerns. I hope this helps. Please be assured of my best regards... It is outrageous that wikipedia writers can rewrite someone's history and the people written about have to prove the things written as 'facts' are not facts. Again, how does one prove a negative? Have I got a certificate of not being divorced? No, of course not. I realise that there's not a thing you can do about it because of the wikipedia sacred rules BUT just know how we feel that when people who have a wiki entry whether they like it or not are badly hurt by the utter rubbish written on wikis about individuals and that when our lives are over it will be these misquotes and tittle tattle lies that will remain as the real facts of a life are not known. It is currency for those who care to write about other people. I'm sure they feel a sense of accomplishment and do not give it another thought but we have to live with it or engage with the circular arguments of editors as they cite references to articles which were quoting the wiki untruths in the first place. So annoying and this is why wikipedia can never be a reliable source for any information. Writing rubbish about individuals takes away from the good work done by writers on wikipedia who cover more important subjects.

Mrs. McGann, if I may, this is why we would like you to reach out to our Volunteer Response Team. If there are facts on the page that are in error, then this team may indeed be able to assist you with having this corrected. We take articles written about living figures extremely seriously, and documentation is a key for facts listed on the page. RickinBaltimore (talk) 20:46, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I will contact them Rick but can you see my point that the information, being untrue, can't have been verified from a reliable source in the first place and so this random wiki writer has written this and not been challenged whereas it is my marriage you are talking about but I am not qualified to verify my own life. So the answer is that I have to engage with a load of rigmarole to try and sort it out. Very boring.

WHOEVER SORTED THE PAGE OUT AND LINKED IT ALL UP - THANK YOU SO MUCH!
