Freddie Mercury, a Parsee like me, are from India. Our ancestors settled in North India, State of Gujerat, 1400 years ago to escape religious persecution from spread of Islam. It is noted that our ancestors escaped from Azerbaigan/Georgia region, through Iran, down to Central Asia thereafter all Parsees have DNA connection to the Indian subcontinent. Local Maharaja in the Sanjan area of current state of Gujerat is where displaced ancestors, received sanctuary- "Just as sugar melts with Milk so will we melt with your people".
To be identified as Persian is incorrect; our correct identification is Zorastrian, Parsee from India. Zororastrianism is an ancient religion, began before Christianity, Islam and Judaism.
