I don't know what you are talking about--please explain. ElKevbo, are you aware of legal threats? Drmies (talk) 15:21, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think one of the unregistered editors made some legal threats in an edit summary but I've honestly lost track of all of the unregistered edit warring at that article. ElKevbo (talk) 18:42, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Drmies -- Yes, this IP user made legal threats on September 4th, 2017 at 18:48GMT. She stated the following "Do not delete this. I will keep puttin this up. I have multiple evidence from all 3 instituions that this information is true and verifiable. One more attempt to change this again and I will pursue legal action.". The IP is possibly a sock puppet of Pebblefire (see similarities in edit behavior on the page).74.108.157.211 (talk) 20:51, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello all. Thank you for your discussion and email. I think I have gotten the hang of how to use Wiki better after a few frustrating, yet helpful moments with Drmies and RegentsPark. I am rather new to Wikipedia's editing/policies/protocols since so far all I have been doing is adding or making new pages. I was unfamiliar with the wiki talk pages (or even where the tab was!), what they were used for, or how articles went from talk -> approved for actual edit, etc. RegentsPark pointed out to me the terms of such as sockpuppetry, meatpuppetry, and block evasion which are very foreign to those who are only making simple edits and are not familiar with the wikipedia community. Furthermore, Drmies stated, "While I have your ear..." and told me about the consequences of threat to legal action so I thought that was a warning that I was given and no further discussion was needed. It appears that all of you want to continue discussing the issue? When the edit was reverted the first few times, I just read the user names such as Drmies and RegentsPark and assumed that they were internet trolls who simply deleted edits continuously. I did not know how to look at edit histories and read all of the comments until... well probably about yesterday when I discovered that wikipedia had numerous functions. Then when Drmies states that I could get blocked for reverting another edit without explanation, I reverted the edit with explanation (to explain why I believe that the edit was important, justified, and had proper citation), but then was blocked for stating that I ignored an administrator's warning. I was simply trying to follow instructions to provide a revert with an explanation once I discovered how to read the edit histories with comments on each article. From my perspective, all I saw was my paragraph from the wikipage being deleted, which left me quite confused and frustrated. I also did not know "edit warring" was a thing (I had to look that one up as well). After I was blocked, I used my phone (I also did not know about block evasion as a policy) to communicate with Drmies and RegentsPark (who was extremely helpful on explaining why the edit had issues and how to use the talk tab on the Columbia page) in order to understand the situation clearly. I was later explained about the block evasion by both parties and I did not continue to message once I understood I should: 1) wait 24 hours and not continue any edits/message or face the consequences of permanent dismissal, 2) post the edit in the talk page so other wiki users can democratically support, edit, or make recommendations, 3) post up the edit in smaller chunks with section that I feel like has strong enough citations.

Finally, I'd like to state that Drmies, as an administrator, it is quite frustrating when a person who openly admits little to nothing about Wikipedia edit functions, policies, and HTML when you claim that just because I work at Columbia, the fancy, big name school reputation must also give me equal knowledge in Wikipedia policies and I should just "know" how to figure my way around the website is absolutely absurd! Perhaps the big name is a great smoke screen as to showing you that not every staff member, student, or faculty is a genius at an Ivy League institution that there are a wide variety of expertise in different fields. When it comes to HTML related internet activities, I consider myself a beginner. I feel that you, as an administrator (and also stated in Wiki's policies!) is that you should be guiding those who are confused, not humiliating them stating, "I don't believe you, really" when I told you about my lack of experience with wikipedia functions and policies. I just wanted to provide clear details for the students on the complex relationship between our university and the constituent schools since I believe that wiki is a source that many prospective students go to. I still felt that putting up the information was important despite my lack of HTML knowledge. I hope that this situation has been resolved fully. (Also the quadruple squiggle signature thing is something I was taught to by either Drmies or RegentsPark, please be sure to teach your new and clueless wiki editors better instead of having them go through everything I did!) Suspicious Account & New IP Addresses of the Notorious "RabidMelon" (Blocked Account)[edit]

Dear all (Bbb23, Smartse, Malik Shabazz, ElKevbo, Drmies), since you all had interacted with this figure recently or you are an administrator, I wish to bring to your attention the possible re-appearance of the notorious User:RabidMelon which had controlled (confirmed & blocked) around 10 sock puppet accounts . This account had been blocked indefinitely earlier this year by administrator Bbb23, and what's more it was first blocked in 2010 (but was somehow unblocked in 2011). However, earlier this year (2017) a new account User:Pebblefire was created and several IP addresses based on New York (probably Bronx) are possibly linked with this account:

74.108.157.211, 74.108.156.96, 74.108.153.85

Upon preliminary review, much of the editing behavior & language of User:Pebblefire and the possibly related IP addresses highly resemble that of the blocked account User:RabidMelon and its sock puppets. Like the old account User:RabidMelon, the new account User:Pebblefire along with the possibly related IP addresses seem belong to some individual related to Columbia University. For a direct instance, in the section above (User talk:74.108.157.211), the following claim was made:

"...because I work at Columbia, the fancy, big name school reputation must also give me equal knowledge in Wikipedia policies and I should just "know" how to figure my way around the website is absolutely absurd! Perhaps the big name is a great smoke screen as to showing you that not every staff member, student, or faculty is a genius at an Ivy League institution that there are a wide variety of expertise in different fields. When it comes to HTML related internet activities, I consider myself a beginner. "

He/she claims to be a "beginner", which looks like a big lie to me. He/she seems like an "experienced" Wikipedia editor, but often in disguise. And he/she appears fairly aggressive at some places and fairly "reasonable" at other places.

Finally, this is not a formal accusation against anyone, but a serious reminder. 205.208.120.206 (talk) 08:16, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That statement by PebbleFire above was in response to my claim that she made legal threats against me and other editors on the page. I'm the one who had her blocked. Further, you shouldn't be posting slanderous trash on my talk page. 74.108.156.96 (talk) 02:05, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
