Commas[edit]

Please see User talk:2600:1004:B104:29C2:A01D:3215:4019:3311 and User talk:174.212.98.103 where I have left messages for a shifting IP who inserts commas inappropriately. As this IP is in a range that has been partially blocked from editing certain pages (Pennsylvania Railroad class GG1 + talk + Ulster and Delaware Railroad + talk) I won't take further action at the moment. However, the disruption has to stop. Please respond to allow a discussion to occur regarding commas. Johnuniq (talk) 02:10, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have been inserting some commas per the NY Times style manual. And I resent being blocked on the Ulster and Delaware article with a new section called “Early Preservation Efforts”: deleted with no reason given. AFTER that deletion, I slammed two vandalizing editors under Talk. If you wish to discuss this, (Redacted). 2600:1004:B114:5E9B:7581:95A1:A10C:A8F7 (talk) 04:31, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but at Wikipedia, people have to adapt to the procedures used here. That means discussion happens in public, on talk pages. For your own benefit, I removed an email address and phone number because they will not be used by editors, but they might be used by trolls. Thank you for responding but you need to look at some of the problems mentioned in the links given above, and then respond to those issues. Some of your comma insertions are simply wrong (and they occasionally break templates) but if you want an explanation you will need to take the trouble to read the previous discussions and engage with what has been said. Questions can be asked at WP:Teahouse. Johnuniq (talk) 05:55, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Will no longer change commas. But you did not address at least one editor (“Wizzito”, it looks like) just reverted my entire new section on “Early Preservation Efforts”, with zero reason followed by blocking (!). I was the first person to launch any such effort, way back in 1974, and spell this out in the deleted section while giving the credit overall to many others since then. I did lose my temper as to 2-3 of these editors, who duly removed my angry Talk replies; just delete any that are still up. Please reply ASAP on Talk. Thank you. 2600:1004:B114:5E9B:7581:95A1:A10C:A8F7 (talk) 23:46, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Same goes for GG1 article block, and any others out there. I have only been editing for 8 months or so, but the number of self-appointed “Edit Czars” out there who spend 12 hours every day imposing their iron wills editing THEIR way is astonishing and very disappointing. 2600:1004:B114:5E9B:7581:95A1:A10C:A8F7 (talk) 23:55, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Understand your point on commas and public chats. However, you did not address some tyrant editor’s just deleting a new section I added to “Ulster & Delaware RR” with no reason; then blocking me. Suggest you go to that article’s Talk and Edit pages, and fix what I consider to be vandalism and a personal insult. Feel free to delete my angry comments to “Wizzito” and any others that are still visible when looking at specific deletions on this article site—including my email and phone number. Delete these messages from me, please, as I am a computer novice and don’t know how to manipulate the Wiki site other than editing and..sometimes..Talk. 2600:1004:B114:5E9B:7581:95A1:A10C:A8F7 (talk) 00:02, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

(This comment edit-conflicted with your edit) It would be much better if you created an account so there was one place to discuss issues and one set of contributions that I could look at to see what you mean by Early Preservation Efforts and by a block (this IP has never been blocked). There is no drawback to having an account, ask at WP:Teahouse if interested. If there is something wanted, please spell it out. I suppose I could search for an example of a comma problem, but why not look at the links I've already given and see if there is something specific there. Then, you could present a WP:DIFF and ask me or at the Teahouse what the problem is (as I recall, apart from some commas being just wrong, others broke templates giving error messages in the article). SEE “Wallkill Valley Railroad” article Talk section. Some editor blocked me here too. Please unblock me AND made the change in my Talk item of yesterday. Thank you. 2600:1004:B114:5E9B:7581:95A1:A10C:A8F7 (talk) 00:08, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Do not understand the technical jargon at all. Can you try to just look up the deleted messages from me as well as the prior deletion edits of the past few days only? Do not know how to reach you other than in Talk on any article. 2600:1004:B114:5E9B:7581:95A1:A10C:A8F7 (talk) 00:11, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I used to have a user name some months ago. A cabal of 20-year-plus editors resented some of my sourced edits and blocked me on all of Wikipedia. It took me a few months to learn that I could edit without a Wiki Address, which gave me great satisfaction. However, I assure you that I would much rather have my old address back AND be unblocked when using it than be forced to play these games. Can you convene an Arbitration panel that will work this issue out with me, that is NOT a pack of self-appointed “Thought Police”? (Thanks to George Orwell and his landmark book, “1984”.) 2600:1004:B114:5E9B:7581:95A1:A10C:A8F7 (talk) 00:20, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I see your comment at Talk:Wallkill Valley Railroad#Samuel Decker Coykendall: Correct inaccurate description, and I see that Wallkill Valley Railroad was semi-protected due to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/DonPevsner/Archive. This greatly complicates the issue because if you are DonPevsner (talk · contribs), you are also 16ConcordeSSC (talk · contribs) and that account was indefinitely blocked last July for personal attacks. That means you are blocked and attempts to edit Wikipedia as an IP would be block evasion, and that would lead to your IPs being blocked. Regarding your comment at that article talk, saying "See Google listings for Samuel Decker Coykendall" is not adequate because other editors are busy and will not want to do searches with subsequent hit-and-miss investigation of what is found. If you have a link to a reliable source, you should add that link. If you don't know how, you should ask at WP:Teahouse (all that's needed is to paste a copy of the link into your comment). See the top of the article talk where it mentions "WikiProject Trains". The way to ask for help correcting a mistake would be to post a new section at the WikiProject's talk with a polite request providing the details. If you want to continue editing Wikipedia you will have to use much milder comments—stuff like "Thought Police" is wrong and is disruptive. Johnuniq (talk) 01:27, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Forget about the entire matter. I am done wasting my time with a horde of obsessive “tyrant-editors”. If you prefer leaving obsolete facts up that are wrong, after being given sources to prove it, then I view your entire modus operandi as ludicrous and destructive. Period. -DLP- 2600:1004:B11E:328D:F561:6CBC:62AC:3D69 (talk) 21:56, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
