Non-diffusing categories[edit]

Hello. I saw you removed categories from several film articles. Some of them are non-diffusing, which means that they should not be removed, even when articles are already in subcategories. These include categories like Category:American films and Category:1990 films. All relevant films should put in these categories. I know it's unintuitive, but if you see a category repeatedly included in a large number of well-developed articles, it never hurts to check the category to see if it's non-diffusing. Star Wars categories[edit]

You have removed many film categories which should stay per Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Categorization#General categorization. And WP:EPONYMOUS says:

  • Articles with an eponymous category may be categorized in the broader categories that would be present if there were no eponymous category (e.g. the article France appears in both Category:France and Category:Western Europe, even though the latter category is the parent of the former category). Editors should decide by consensus which solution makes most sense for a category tree.
You need consensus to remove Star Wars films from Category:Star Wars films. Marking category removals as minor edits is against Help:Minor edit#When not to mark as minor changes. PrimeHunter (talk) 19:32, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted a series of your recategorisations as I don't consider them to be appropriate. If you wish to discuss the categorisation scheme of films such as the Star Wars saga films, you are welcome to bring it up at Talk:Star Wars. Also, please do not add the films to absurd categories like Category:Amputees in fiction. This is not a defining feature of any of the films and should not be used in these cases.
