From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am currently a student at Marysville Arts & Technology High School and at Everett Community College. I am majoring in computer science. I am a member of the FIRST Robotics teams, the 2660 Pengbots and the 2903 Neobots. Some of my interests include science, technology, gaming, and reading. My favorite genre of games and books is fantasy. I listen to a lot of music during the day, some of my favorite artists are J Cole, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Tupac, and Kanye West. I listen to a lot of different artists, there are too many to list, so those are just a few. My political beliefs are generally moderate, so I don't get into politics much.

Article Critique[edit]

I visited the Social System page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: lack of information, Lack of citations, and the quality of information present.

Lack of Information:[edit]

While on the social systems page, I noticed that there was almost no information about the topic. Considering this article is used as a link in other articles, such as the patriarchy article, it should include more information. The three heading that are included in the article are all about people who have “contributed to” social systems. None of these headings had more than one line of information. There were no examples of what a social system is, or how they function. This could all be very useful information.

Lack of Citations:[edit]

This page has three citations for one person, and that is about it. Although there is not much information, what is there should have citations. I have no idea where the two other bits of information are from.

Quality of Information:[edit]

There is not much information on this page, but what is there is questionable. The definition was taken straight from a dictionary, but it is short. The next bits of information seem weak to me. There are three people mentioned, the last heading about Niklas Luhmann says “Niklas Luhmann believes in the significance of communicative processes…”, which does not explain anything about social systems.

Summary:[edit]

Overall,  would rate this article as very poor. Since it is used as a link in other articles, I would expect it to include a larger amount of information. The lack of citations on this page is also concerning. Lastly, you can’t have an article about social systems and not include information about social systems. During this page’s lifespan, many people have made edits, but most of them have been reverted or changed. This article could definitely use some new information.
