Warren G. "Freckles" Brown was a rodeo star from Wheatland, Wyoming and his career was active during the years 1937 to 1974. He was the youngest out of his 10 brothers and sisters. He was a tiny man with a big hand. He always ran to where he was going instead of walking. He would carry a big load when he was going down the road. Freckles had a wife named Edith, and a daughter named Donna Harrison. Freckles also had two grandchildren.[1]In the year 1937 Brown has entered the rodeo in his life at Wilcox, Arizona at the age 16. When it got to the year 1941 he rode his horse all the way to Cody, Wyoming, where he had won his first bull trophy. After he was done he rode back home on the horse.[2][3]

Freckles Winning the World Championship[edit]

Freckles had been injured badly in the month of October in the year of 1962 at the rodeo in Portland, Oregon. The injury was caused from riding a bull name "Black Smoke" for 8 seconds, the bulled flipped freckles when he had landed on Black smoke head, it caused Freckles to fall on top of his head. The fall had made him paralyzed so they had taken him to the First Aid Room.</ref>[4][5] The doctor pulled on his head and it made the feeling come back to his right side and left foot. Freckles had been operated on in Portland that putted him in traction for 34 days. It had made him miserable. They had putted a cast on him after the traction from the top of the waist to the top of the brow for more than 2 months. Nonetheless, he had enough money that he saved before he got hurt that was enough to win the Championship.[6][7] His earnings in the year 1962 were $18,675. During that year he won the award "World Champion Bull Rider" at the National Finals Rodeo while he was on the sidelines watching.

Ride With Tornado[edit]

[8] On a cold December night freckles had rode a bull named "Tornado". A guy named "Jim Shoulders" had owned tornado. Tornado was the ultimate challenge that was on the bull-riding circuit, but Brown had stayed on for the 8 seconds that was required.[9]He had rode Tornado front of 6,000 people. Tornado had died in the year 1972 as unridden for 220 professional riders, and he was buried near to the Cowboy Hall of Fame.

Freckles and World War II[edit]

Freckles had enlisted to join the U.S. army. He had done the basic training in Fort Sill. He had attended a school of horseshoeing school while he was station staying at Fort Riley. He was recruited by an Officer of Strategic Services. The Office of Strategic Services had done activities behind the enemy line, and Freckles was doing his part of duty by helping paratroopers in secret. The war ended in the spring of 1946, and Brown had returned to China to finish Red Cross-sponsored event in which U.S. pack mules that had replaced saddle-broncs and barebacks and native cattle that was rounded up for the bull ride. Freckles left with the all-around title when he was done over in china.

Freckles Return to Home[edit]

Freckles had retired at the age 53 years old, and he returned back home to the 600-acre ranch that he owns in Soper, Oklahoma. He had settle down from the bull riding to work with the animals on the ranch, and teach the young ones his techniques that wanted to follow in his footsteps. On March 20, 1985 Freckles had passed away from having cancer.

Freckles Cancer[edit]

Freckles cancer was found in the month of November. They had advised him to go to Houston to get a 6 weeks of the radiation treatment, but he was determining to go to December finals before he would have to start the treatment. A guy named Clem had announced at the December 1983 Finals that Freckles was diagnosed with prostate cancer. His friends gave him a fund raiser dance at the end of the Finals that would help with cost of the medical supplies he needed. By March 1983 he had returned home to give interviews, and he was showing good attitude while he was giving his quotes. His cancer had returned back in the year 1987, after being in remission for 4 years. In the same year by month of March he was back in the hospital in Houston at the age of 66. Clem that announced Warren G "Freckles" Brown cancer came back at the Finals, so they had pulled together a fund raiser auction to help to pay for the medical bills again. It was going to take place on March 22, 1987. However, Freckles did not make it to the day of the fund raiser, for he passed away two days before on March 20, 1987 on his ranch in Oklahoma. That Sunday the fund raiser had still went on at the Holidome in McAlester, Oklahoma. There was a total of $41,000 that had been gathered up to help with Freckles medical bills.
