The Texas Longhorns football team competes as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, representing the University of Texas at Austin in the Big 12 Conference. Since the establishment of the team in 1893, Texas has appeared in 50 bowl games.[1] Included in these games are 29 combined appearances in the traditional "big four" bowl games (the Rose, Sugar, Cotton, and Orange) and 7 Bowl Championship Series (BCS) game appearances, including one in the BCS National Championship Game.[1]
