Steve Brunt is an Electronics Engineer and Physicist who grew up with the machine readable card industry, playing a pioneering role in (amongst several) the development of the magnetic stripe ticketing technology that provided intermodal ticketing between London and the BR network. Along the way, he became involved in the manufacture and application of Watermark Magnetics (R) and ended up taking a major (and mostly voluntary) role in standardisation. Currently, he is Secretary of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC17/WG1, who are responsible for physical properties, magnetic stripe and test methods for "machine readable cards", and Project Editor for several of the standards under their jurisdiction.
