Peter Lee Foster is a hall-of-fame aviator and record-holding pilot who has flown 83 aircraft types. Born September 26, 1950, in Woodriver, Illinois, Foster graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in 1968. He began his aviation career, becoming an airline captain, test pilot, and instructor pilot for various companies, including Boeing. In his career, Foster has set 16 aviation records www.naa.aero, including two altitude records in 1988 that still stand. https://www.fai.org/athletes-space In December 1988, the International Pilots Association recognized his world aviation records and other work on safety issues within the aviation and aerospace industry. It named Foster one of the world's top 10 pilots for 1988. A dossier on Peter has been placed in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and he became a member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame. He was later appointed to the HAHF's board of nominees. Wanting to give back to the industry, Foster worked on making the skies safer. The Los Angeles Office of the Federal Aviation Administration designated Foster as an FAA safety counselor and gave him Aircraft Inspection Authorization. In 2004 and 2005, he was awarded FAA Safety Counselor of the Year.

Wanting to share his years of knowledge in aviation and aerospace, Foster (in 2005) was awarded a full professorship at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in California, and 2008, he was appointed the college's president of international studies. Peter holds a faculty position as an adjunct professor at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology and teaches and lectures on Aerospace engineering at San Bernardino Valley College.

In 2023, Foster was inducted into the National Society Sons of the American Revolution.
