Carlos C Reis, founder of BANNED®, and BANNED® Skate Shop. Established in 1993, he introduced skateboarding to City culture and lifestyle in Redlands, California. Also in the early stages of the internet, even before e-mails, he secured a powerful single word domain: banned.com nowadays an influencing website in the skateboard community.
Currently one the oldest Skate Shops still in existence in the Inland Empire, Southern California. Having survived many cultural changes, BANNED is still very much rooted in skateboarding. A cultural influence in skateboarding in California, with approval of many respectable skateboarding pros.
Along the years, BANNED grown to a large family of former staff. Old employees who embraced BANNED as their own. Who remember with nostalgia the fun times when working at the various BANNED stores since the early 1990's.
Early staff with passion for skateboard include Alex yang, Richie Cassaway, and many others.
Forward thinking business model. A very age sensitive field of retail. Carlos Reis from BANNED Skate Shops early day, introduced a business model where the young staff were be the buyers and influencing the shop direction. As such, it identified with the young consumer base. Inventory products purchased were more relevant and reflected the youth' latest street fashion. Run by skateboarders for skateboarders.
