It clearly states, on the official Ryder cup website that Stenson holed the winning putt. I'd take that over the BBC website --Shuyin05 16:09, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

As may be. They haven't counted the half-points secured by players already lying dormie. See the sorder of events I posted on the talk page. Before Howell's match-winning putt, Europe had 12 points from finished matches, plus Stenson and Clarke lying dormie; i.e. Europe had secured 13 points. Howell won the 14th and the match, 13 on the board plus Stenson and Clarke's (minimum) halves, 14 points, tie and retention of the Cup secured. Donald won the 17th and the match, 14 points from completed matches but Stenson and Clarke's halves still apply, 15 points total, guaranteeing the overall victory.
