Keep.com is an online social bookmarking platform that allows consumers to keep online products for future use.[1][2]

Features[edit]

Keep.com offers the means to select items from various web sites and choose to maintain them in a personal area on the site. Items kept on the service are meant to be products available for purchase. And the Keep.com selecton tools work only on retail web sites. Users may follow other users or click on their own or others kept product to navigate to the retail web site from which the product was originally kept. Some third party services or content providers may use Keep.com to maintain their own custom areas for promotion.[3]

The parent company of Keep.com, Keep Holdings was oringally founded as AdKeeper in March, 2010,[4] by Scott Kurnit, who serves as Chairman and CEO. Kurnit is best known as the founder of About.com, which grew to a public market value of $1.7 billion, and was sold to Primedia for $724 million, in 2001. About is now owned by IAC. Keep Holdings has added products such as TheSwizzle.com and Keep.com. The company was ranked by The Wall Street Journal among the Top 50 Start-ups in 2012.[5]

Finances and governance[edit]

Keep.com is a division of Keep Holdings, which also produces TheSwizzle.com. In March, 2010, the company raised $8 million in funding from DCM, True Ventures, Spark Capital, First Round Capital,[6] Betaworks, The New York Times, Lerer Ventures and several individual investors. In December, 2010, the company raised $35 million from Oak Investment Partners,[7] DCM, and other previous investors.[8][9] The Board of Directors consists of Scott Kurnit, Fred Harman (Managing Partner of Oak Investment Partners), Dixon Doll (Co-Founder and General Partner, DCM), Jon Callaghan (Founder, True Ventures) and Ron Unterman (scientist and former Managing Director, Slater Technology Fund).
