I am a Japanologist and historian, currently working towards a PhD at the University of Cambridge. I previously studied for my BA and M.St. in Japanese at the University of Oxford, with periods of study spent at Kwansei Gakuin University and Osaka University of Foreign Studies (now merged with Osaka University).
I am currently researching the evolution in Kōyasan's land holdings in Kii Province in the late Heian and medieval periods, but my research interests also include the interaction between centre and periphery in tenth-century Japan and the lives of Fujiwara no Sumitomo and Taira no Masakado.
